Check posted flyers or Cathedral office for additional information. ARCHIVES The Archives Committee is sponsoring a raffle to raise funds for the continued conservation of our artifacts. The prize is the 1998 Michalopoulos Greek Festival print, which he created to commemorate our 25 th festival anniversary. The print is a limited edition, signed by the artist and numbered. Please see it in the foyer by the museum case. Tickets $5 for two or $3 for one can be purchased today in the Hellenic Cultural Center foyer and are also available through the Cathedral office, Parish Council Members, and Committee Members. DAUGHTERS Attention Community Members: The AHEPA Family Palm Sunday Luncheon will be held today in the Hellenic Cultural Center immediately following church services, and all members of our Cathedral Family are invited to attend. Our talented AHEPAN chefs have prepared a fish dinner, which will be served with potatoes, green peas, and salad. Apple pie will be served for dessert, and drinks will be included. Cost is $10 per person at the door. We shall take a group photo of all AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope members to be used for our District and Supreme Convention ads. We look forward to welcoming everyone in the Community to this annual event, which has been a tradition of the New Orleans AHEPA Family for generations! SPECIAL TRAY FOR MARCH 25 th RELIEF FUND, AGAIN! Only $204 was collected last month for the March 25 th Relief Fund that His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios organized to assist our suffering brothers and sisters in Greece. Consequently, another tray for this cause will be passed today, Sunday, April 28.

2 AGAPE SERVICE READERS NEEDED FEAST OF FEASTS EASTER DAY PICNIC The passage from the Gospel of St. John 20: will be read in various languages during the Agape Vespers celebrated on Pascha Sunday, May 5, at 11:00 am to show that the good news of Christ s saving Resurrection is for all people in the world. Father Maximos looks forward to having as many languages as possible during this service and encourages anyone interested in reading the Gospel in a different language to contact the Cathedral office at to give Vickie your name and the language you wish to read. Father Maximos and the Holy Trinity Cathedral Parish Council invite ALL parishioners to celebrate Christ s Resurrection at a picnic on the Cathedral grounds Sunday, May 5, The picnic will follow the Agape Vespers and HOPE & JOY Easter Egg Hunt, approximately 12:30 pm. BATON ROUGE GREEK FESTIVAL MYROFORES Don t miss the festivities on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, Town Square, 222 North Boulevard. PASTRY WORKSHOPS Pastry preparations for the 2013 Greek Festival will continue after Holy Week on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. The Pastry Committee Chairpersons invite all ladies and gentlemen to assist in the preparation of the pastries every Tuesday and Wednesday. Lunch is provided! PASCHA TSOUREKIA These traditional home baked breads will be prepared this Wednesday, May 1, and may be picked up at the conclusion of the Holy Unction service. Orders for Koulourakia and frozen items Tiropites, Spanakopites, Almond Rolls, and Galaktobourika can be picked up today, Palm Sunday, April 28. GREEK FESTIVAL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS Stacy at festival@holytrinitycathedral.org or call her at to sign up as a volunteer. Lots of workshops are underway, or soon to be scheduled, and extra hands are most welcome. Don t forget to ask your family and friends to join as well. GREEK LANGUAGE CLASSES After Holy Week both adult Greek School classes Beginner Level with Fay Kalergi and Intermediate/Advanced Levels with Father Maximos will continue each Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm through May 29. Please note that the children s class scheduled each Sunday was revised. Check the bulletin for weekly updates. HOLY WEEK EXCUSED ABSENCE PERMISSION SLIPS Students can contact the Cathedral office to obtain an excused absence permission slip for Holy Week or ask Viki Moustoukas at the Youth Choir practice during Sunday School. YOUTH MINISTRIES GOYA: Friday, May 3 Easter Egg Wrapping As is customary the GOYANS will wrap the red- dyed Easter eggs with netting and ribbon after church services on Friday morning. The office can provide excused absence letters. HOPE & JOY: Sunday, May 5 Easter Egg Hunt Bring your baskets for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt following the Agape Vespers at 11:00 am! Over 1,000 treat- stuffed eggs will be on hand for the children to fill their baskets. There will be three separate age groups 1-4 years, 5-7 years, and 8-11 years. After the egg hunt, stay for the Community Pascha Picnic. Plenty of food and entertainment will be on hand, and don't forget a change of clothes! What a wonderful day for our community family to share together! YOUTH CHOIR PARTICIPANTS Parents, mark your calendars, this Saturday, May 4, 8:45 am. During Sunday School in April, all students (First Grade and up) are learning the Hymn of Three Youths, which they will chant on Holy Saturday morning. ΤΟ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ Ἰωάννου ιβ 1-18 Πρὸ ἓξ ἡμερῶν τοῦ Πάσχα ἦλθεν Ὁ Ιησοῦς εἰς Βηθανίαν, ὅπου ἦν Λάζαρος ὁ τεθνηκώς, ὃν ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν. ἐποίησαν οὖν αὐτῷ δεῖπνον ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἡ Μάρθα διηκόνει ὁ δὲ Λάζαρος εἷς ἦν τῶν ἀνακειμένων σὺν αὐτῷ. ἡ οὖν Μαρία, λαβοῦσα λίτραν μύρου νάρδου πιστικῆς πολυτίμου, ἤλειψε τοὺς πόδας τοῦ Ιησοῦ καὶ ἐξέμαξε ταῖς θριξὶν αὐτῆς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ ἡ δὲ οἰκία ἐπληρώθη ἐκ τῆς ὀσμῆς τοῦ μύρου. λέγει οὖν εἷς ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, Ιούδας Σίμωνος Ισκαριώτης, ὁ μέλλων αὐτὸν παραδιδόναι διατί τοῦτο τὸ μύρον οὐκ ἐπράθη τριακοσίων δηναρίων καὶ ἐδόθη πτωχοῖς; εἶπε δὲ τοῦτο οὐχ ὅτι περὶ τῶν πτωχῶν ἔμελεν αὐτῷ, ἀλλ ὅτι κλέπτης ἦν, καὶ τὸ γλωσσόκομον εἶχε καὶ τὰ βαλλόμενα ἐβάσταζεν. εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ιησοῦς ἄφες αὐτήν, εἰς τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ ἐνταφιασμοῦ μου τετήρηκεν αὐτό. τοὺς πτωχοὺς γὰρ πάντοτε ἔχετε μεθ ἑαυτῶν, ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε. Εγνω οὖν ὄχλος πολὺς ἐκ τῶν Ιουδαίων ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐστι, καὶ ἦλθον οὐ διὰ τὸν Ιησοῦν μόνον, ἀλλ ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἴδωσιν ὃν ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν. ἐβουλεύσαντο δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἀποκτείνωσιν,ὅτι πολλοὶ δι αὐτὸν ὑπῆγον τῶν Ιουδαίων καὶ ἐπίστευον εἰς τὸν Ιησοῦν. Τῇ ἐπαύριον ὄχλος πολὺς ὁ ἐλθὼν εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν, ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ἔρχεται Ιησοῦς εἰς Ιεροσόλυμα, ἔλαβον τὰ βαΐα τῶν φοινίκων καὶ ἐξῆλθον εἰς ὑπάντησιν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἔκραζον ὡσαννά, εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου, ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ Ισραήλ. εὑρὼν δὲ ὁ Ιησοῦς ὀνάριον ἐκάθισεν ἐπ αὐτό, καθώς ἐστι γεγραμμένον μὴ φοβοῦ, θύγατερ Σιών ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεται καθήμενος ἐπὶ πῶλον ὄνου. Ταῦτα δὲ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ τὸ πρῶτον, ἀλλ ὅτε ἐδοξάσθη ὁ Ιησοῦς, τότε ἐμνήσθησαν ὅτι ταῦτα ἦν ἐπ αὐτῷ γεγραμμένα, καὶ ταῦτα ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ. Εμαρτύρει οὖν ὁ ὄχλος ὁ ὢν μετ αὐτοῦ ὅτε τὸν Λάζαρον ἐφώνησεν ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου καὶ ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν. διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ ὁ ὄχλος, ὅτι ἤκουσαν τοῦτο αὐτὸν πεποιηκέναι τὸ σημεῖον. THE EPISTLE Philippians 4:4-9 BRETHREN, rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you. THE GOSPEL John 12:1-18 Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazaros was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me." When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus also to death, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, and then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.
