The parish is, pre-eminently, the means of assuring the faithful, through the sacraments, and especially the Eucharist, are spiritually nourished and saved. 2 ADORATION During June, July and August we will have Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of the month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the church. The Meditation Room is available for Eucharistic Adoration during parish office hours or with fob access. Funeral Receptions A BIG THANKS to everyone who has provided food and helped in the kitchen for the recent funeral receptions at Christ on the Mountain many of you multiple times! We are pleased to be able to offer receptions after funerals but we couldn t do it without the generosity of our parishioners. You are invited to attend Faith Day at Coors Field on Sunday, July 29 The Colorado Rockies will take on the Oakland Athletics at 1:10 p.m. Following the game there will be a concert by PASSION. Tickets are only $ We will be sitting in section U329. Don t miss this opportunity to enjoy a day at the ballpark with one of the best bands in contemporary Christian music! See the order form below. Orders are due by July 10. We only have 30 tickets reserved so get your orders in ASAP. Items Needed! We re going to strap on our life jackets and get ready for a rip-roaring river ride with Splash : God's Promise on Life's Wild Ride. Items are needed to transform the JDM hall into our river rafting adventure land. If you have any of the following items that we can borrow please drop them off during parish office hours or contact Mary Ann to arrange an alternate time: Kayaks, Oars/Paddles, Rubber Rafts, Life Jackets, Life Preserver Rings/Inner-tubes, Large Logs (to sit on), Home Depot type 5 Gallon Buckets, Blue, Gray, Brown, White or Black Sheets/Fabric, Stuffed Animals: Trout, Otters, Fox, Geese, Raccoons, Squirrels, Skunks, Birds and Ducks. 3 Sewing & Knitting Group News The COTM Sewing & Knitting Group recently donated a large number of items to Mommy Rocks, including 80 blankets, 50 hats, and an assortment of burp cloths, changing pads, bibs and other items, a total of 147 items in all. We are so grateful to those who donated fabric and yarn to us for these items, and are very happy to support this wonderful ministry. We are excited to host the Denver Catholic Biblical School at Christ on the Mountain this fall! If you ve ever wanted to study Scripture from a Catholic perspective, learn the big picture and the various connections between every book of the Bible, then attend a summer information session to find out about the program! Information sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Joe Downs Memorial Hall on: July 31st, August 14th and August 28th. Brochures are available in the foyer and the office. Each week we give a percentage from the collections. This week 6% will be given to Outreach. Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Touch. That might be the most powerful thing we do in this world. The newborn, lovingly held and kissed and touched by mom and dad for the first few years of life, is developing neural pathways of confidence and security that will carry them for the rest of their life. I wonder why we can t remember those first years. Playing with my baby niece in the pool the other day, passing her from one adoring family member to the next, I had a flashback of my mom, holding my baby brother in a big towel while the rest of her confident brood splashed and swam laps in the pool. Marty would join us soon enough, but in that stage of life he needed nothing but the warmth of the sun, and the security of being held by mom. That s the core of what we all need, isn t it? Our Jesus knows that. Imagine that poor woman, unclean by every standard, so desperate for healing that she reached out to him just to touch his clothes. She d been roughly treated by her many doctors, and their touch had only brought more pain. But merely touching the clothes of The Compassionate One healed her immediately. Jesus could have healed Jairus s daughter with just a word. I think he traveled to her house because he knew that the whole family needed to be touched by him. And when we hear him say, Do not be afraid; just have faith we feel ourselves being touched by him, held by him, through the millennia, through the painful experiences of our lives, right through Mark s text. I just felt power go out from him. Did you? In what ways do you feel the powerful touch of Jesus in your life? Kathy McGovern Pilgrimage Plans are underway for our next parish pilgrimage, In the footsteps of St. Paul, A Spiritual Journey to Greece which will take place May 7-18, This 12 day pilgrimage includes a 3 night Greek Isle Cruise. Highlights will also include: Athens, Delphi, Kalambaka, Corinth, Epidaurus and much more. Assumpon of Mary Day of Obligaon) VBS Volunteer Opportunities (for Adults and those going into 7th 12th Grade) If you are available the week of July from 8:30am - 12:30pm we are in need volunteers to help make VBS a success and would love to have your help! Available positions are: small group leaders, bible story leaders, craft leaders, music leaders and game leaders. We could also use assistance with set up on Sunday, July 22 and clean up on Friday, July 27. Volunteer forms will be available at Youth Group, in the office and in the foyer. Some positions fill up fast so get your form turned in to Mary Ann as soon as possible if you d like to help out. Babysitters The Nursery will be closed during the summer months. If you are a teenager who has taken a babysitter training class and would like to work or volunteer in our nursery during the 10:15 a.m. Mass this fall, please contact Michele Weber. COTM is responsible for feeding approximately 120 adults on the third Sat. of each month at the soup kitchen sponsored by St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church on the Auraria campus. Our next opportunity for youth and adults to serve will be Sat. July 21. We are in need of canned potatoes, carrots, diced tomatoes and mixed vegetables to make the soup. The soup kitchen is also in need of cases of bottled water, men s socks, underwear, sweats, hats, undershirts, weather appropriate clothing, backpacks, multi-vitamins, small paper plates, plastic spoons, macaroni, rice, pasta (not spaghetti), plastic grocery bags, individual bags of chips and cookies. If you would be able to donate any of these items or if you are in 6th -12th grade or an adult and would like to volunteer your time to serve or make soup Mary Ann or drop your donations off at the parish office. If you are interested in volunteering please note that we serve OUTSIDE in the alley behind St. E s. You must be comfortable standing for 2 1/2 hours.

Space is Limited! Young Adult Summer Bible Study Crossroads What does it mean to have a relationship with God? Could He really love someone like me? What does a life lived in Christ look like? Crossroads is a summer Bible study for college-aged Catholics that explores these questions and more. Please join us for faith, fellowship, and friendship. Anniversary Mass Growing With Jesus You ve probably heard someone say, Don t be a sore loser, but have you ever heard, Don t be a sore winner? It s thrilling to be the winner, but it s something you should celebrate with a humble attitude. Sore winners brag and gloat. Humble winners are excited to have won, but they don t get a big head about it. They know that having a winning attitude is more important than having a winning score. Being humble means not to think more highly of yourself than you should. God made each person in a marvelously incredible way, and no one is more valuable than another.
