20 Office cabling Offices that will also be functional in the future thanks to flexible office cabling solutions Be it in industrial administration, in service or professional building applications today's working environments are characterized by the strong need for high variability. Office spaces are continuously being redesigned and refurbished and need an extremely flexible multifunctional layout to allow for their local network connection. This is the reason why already in the planning stage all possible use options must be accounted for. P Cabling offers a wide range of products for variable office cabling applications. Our modular connection components can directly be integrated into a wide variety of applications or also be installed directly as compact solutions. In doing so you may choose from fiber optic or copper solutions for the different performance classes. In the FO field we offer system solutions for the performance classes OS2 and OM 1 4 and in copper for the performance classes Cat.6 A, Cat.6, Cat.5e and Cat.3. Depending on your individual requirements these products can be installed individually or combined using surface mount or flush mount outlets or be integrated into cable ducts, floor sockets or office furniture. The office system is completed by the server connection up to the patch panel via METZ CONNECT installation cables and also by the connection of a multitude of end devices via patch cables. In addition, our office cabling products are also ideally suited for a wide range of private applications (smarthome). 22 System overview FO Performance classes f fiber optic cables The data communication via fiber optic cables is realized by the transmission of modulated light. Fiber optic cables stand out by their extremely high transmission rates that can amount to several billions of bits per second. The advantage of fiber optic cables consists in their resistivity against electro-magnetic interferences and their extremely low attenuation values. Frequent reflexions at the limit layer between core and enveloppe glass lead to light waves of different run times. These are the so called modes. If the signal transmission is made via several modes in a fiber optic cable this is designated as a multimode fiber. In monomode or singlemode fibers, however, only one mode is led through an extremely small core diameter (approx μm). Fiber optic cables are classified according to their quality as Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet cables. ISO/IEC assigns multimode fibers to four OM classes and singlemode fibers to the OS class OS 2. OM stands for Optical Multimode and OS for Optical Singlemode.
