1 loving REFLECTIONS JULY/AUGUST 2014 PUBLICATION DORMITION OF THE VIRGIN MARY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH 29 Central St., Somerville, MA, Tel.( 617) Fax (617) Web : office@dormitionchurch.org The Church was apostolic (missionary) from its earliest times and continues to be missionary to the present, and it is our essential task to continue the Church s mission and make it our priority. The very roots of her life are in the commandment of Christ: Go Ye therefore and teach all nations. (Matt. 28:19). For many parishes, the «nations» that Matthew references are right at our own doorsteps; yet they are ignored. They are the potential converts into Orthodoxy who will turn around the sinking numbers, solely by us opening the doors and recovering our Church s apostolic identity. Open the doors and let the people come in and teach them about the Orthodox Love through your actions and not merely your words. People are searching for precisely what we have to offer. Allow community groups to use the wonderful facilities that have been built in our Church in a way that will serve our Church s apostolic mission, by establishing a weekly «Table of Love». Help the surrounding community and feed the poor among them, knowing that they are extremely grateful for the help and support. Show your love for your neighbors by being the shining light on the hill. For this has also been the Lord s commandment: Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in (Matt. 25:34 35). I know that many among us are filled with doubts and queries. It is understandable; it is no easy task to invite strangers into the Church and feed them. Many issues must be taken into consideration. Many issues however have already been solved thanks to the efforts of the Parish Council and the offers from kind people outside our community. If we undertake this endeavor we will also have the support and knowledge of an experienced non profit organization next to us. Now is the time for us to act: If you wait for perfect conditions you will never get anything done (Eccl. 11:4) You and your ancestors have worked hard to keep this Parish alive for the future generations. Now, you are being asked to undertake a different task, but one that is very agreeable in the eyes of God with the apostolic mission of our Church. You may ask: why go through all this trouble trying to setup a Table in our Church for all these strangers who are not even Orthodox? Because like Paul, we do it all for Jesus sake (2 Cor. 4:5) Because the goal in feeding them is not to glorify ourselves but to glorify Jesus Christ. The Lord has a vocation for us to accept, a life to live; He needs to expand His Church, His Body on earth, and the only way to do so is by opening the doors of the Church to those most in need of its shelter. Our life has a purpose, a Divine meaning given by God, from all eternity. He created us to carry out a specific, awesome set of tasks to work with Him in saving and transforming the universe. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ (Col. 3:23 24) Fr.Konstantinos Manetas

3 Σκεψεις ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΙΚΗΣ ΑΓΑΠΗΣ Η Εκκλησία υπήρξε Αποστολική (ιεραποστολική) από αρχαιοτάτων χρόνων και αποτελεί καθήκον και προτεραιότητά των Χριστιανών να συνεχίσουν το έργο της. Οι ρίζες της ζωής της είναι θεμελιωμένες στην εντολή του Χριστού: «πορευθέντες μαθητεύσατε πάντα τα έθνη» (Ματθ. 28:19). Για πολλές ενορίες, τα «έθνη» στα οποία αναφέρεται ο Ματθαίος βρίσκονται ακριβώς στο δικό μας κατώφλι, κι όμως μας είναι άγνωστα. Τα αποτελούν οι υποψήφιοι προσήλυτοι στην Ορθοδοξία, που ο αριθμός τους είναι τόσο μεγάλος ώστε να μπορεί να ανατρέψει τα αρνητικά δημογραφικά μας δεδομένα. Η κλήση τους όμως προς την Ορθοδοξία εξαρτάται αποκλειστικά από εμάς και από την αναζωπύρωση της αποστολικής ιδιότητας της Εκκλησίας μας. Ας ανοίξουμε τις πόρτες αφήνοντας τους ανθρώπους να μπουν μέσα και ας τους διδάξουμε για την Ορθόδοξη Αγάπη μέ τις πράξεις μας και όχι μόνο με τα λόγια μας. Ο κόσμος ψάχνει ακριβώς για αυτό που έχουμε να προσφέρουμε. Ας επιτρέψουμε στις ευπαθείς κοινωνικές ομάδες να χρησιμοποιούν τις εγκαταστάσεις μας, με τρόπο που θα εξυπηρετήσει το αποστολικό έργο μας, με τη δημιουργία μιάς εβδομαδιαίας «Τράπεζας αγάπης». Ας βοηθήσουμε την κοινότητα μέσα στην οποία ζούμε και ας ταίσουμε τους φτωχούς αδελφούς μας. Θα διαπιστώσουμε τότε ότι εκείνοι είναι εξαιρετικά ευγνώμονες για τη βοήθεια και την υποστήριξη μας, ενώ εμείς θα δεχθούμε πλούσια τα ελέη και την ευλογία του Θεού. Ολα αυτά μας τα ζητάει ξεκάθαρα ο Κύριος: «Ελάτε οι ευλογημένοι του Πατρός μου, να κληρονομήσετε τη βασιλεία που ετοίμασε για σας από τη δημιουργία του κόσμου: γιατί ήμουν πεινασμένος και μου δώσατε τροφή. Ήμουν διψασμένος και μου δώσατε να πιω. Ήμουν ξένος και με μαζέψατε στο σπίτι σας» (Ματθ. 25:34 35). οργανισμού στο πλάϊ μας. Τώρα έφθασε η ώρα να δράσουμε: «Οποιος παρατηρεί συνέχεια τον άνεμο, δεν θα σπείρει ποτέ, και όποιος συνέχεια εξετάζει τα σύννεφα, ποτέ δε θα θερίσει» (Εκκλ. 11:4). Εσείς και οι πρόγονοί σας έχετε εργαστεί σκληρά για να παραδώσετε αυτή την ενορία ζωντανή στις μελλοντικές γενιές. Τώρα καλείσθε να αναλάβετε ένα διαφορετικό έργο, ένα έργο πολύ ευάρεστο ενώπιον του Θεού. Μπορεί να αναρωτιέστε: γιατί να υποστούμε όλα αυτά προσπαθόντας να οργανώσουμε μιά «Τράπεζα» στην Εκκλησία μας για όλους αυτούς τους ξένους που δεν είναι καν Ορθόδοξοι; Διότι όπως λέει ο Παύλος, τα κάνουμε όλα «για χάρη του Ιησού» (2 Κορ.. 4:5). Ο σκοπός της σύτισσης τους δεν είναι να δοξασθούμε εμείς, αλλά ο Κύριος ημών Ιησούς Χριστός. Ο Κύριος μας κάλεσε σε έναν άλλο τρόπο ζωής τον οποίο εμείς καλούμεθα να αποδεχθούμε ή να απορρίψουμε. Θέλει να επεκτείνουμε την Εκκλησία Του, το Σώμα Του στη γη, και ο μόνος τρόπος για να γίνει αυτό είναι με το άνοιγμα των θυρών του Ναού για την υποδοχή εκείνων που έχουν ανάγκη από καταφύγιο. Η ζωή μας έχει ένα σκοπό, μια Θεϊκή εντολή που δόθηκε σε μας προ αιώνων: να γίνουμε όμοιοι μ Αυτόν (κατ ομοίωσην). Ο Θεός μας έπλασε για να συμετέχουμε σε ένα συγκεκριμένο, ιερό σύνολο ενεργειών, κατεργαζόμενοι μαζί Του τη σωτηρία του κόσμου και τη μεταμόρφωση του σύμπαντος. «Και ό, τι κάνετε, να το κάνετε με την ψυχή σας, σαν εργασία προς τον Κύριο και όχι προς τους ανθρώπους, γνωρίζοντας ότι από τον Κύριο θα λάβετε ως ανταμοιβή την κληρονομιά, διότι ο Κύριος ο Χριστός είναι εκείνος τον οποίον υπηρετείτε» (Κολ. 3:23 24) π. Κωνσταντίνος Μανέτας Ξέρω ότι αρκετοί ανάμεσά μας κλονίζονται με αμφιβολίες και ερωτηματικά. Είναι κατανοητό. Δεν είναι εύκολο να καλέσει κανείς ξένους στην Εκκλησία και να τους θρέψει. Πρέπει να τακτοποιηθούν πολλά θέματα. Πολλά ζητήματα, ωστόσο, έχουν ήδη επιλυθεί χάρη στις φιλότιμες προσπάθειες του Ενοριακού Συμβουλίου και των οικονομικών προσφορών από καλούς Χριστιανούς μέσα κι έξω από την κοινότητά μας. Αν αναλάβουμε αυτή την προσπάθεια θα έχουμε την υποστήριξη και την τεχνική γνώση ενός έμπειρου μη κερδοσκοπικού

4 My dearest Parishioners, A NOTE FROM OUR PARISH COUNCIL PRESIDENT We have reached again the end of another Ecclesiastical year. What a stellar year it has been. We started with a record breaking festival in revenue and net profits. Thank you all for your help, contributions and participation. We welcomed, with a great reception, the Miraculous Icon of Axion Estin to guide and help us for years to come. Thank you to those who donated for the Axion Estin Icon, every dollar was important. We established the parishioner of the year luncheon and the Axion Estin Celebration. We are a small community but energetic, dynamic and very active. We do more fundraisers than many other larger churches. This year we had 7 events: Panagias, Ano Syros, the Kostas Mitsis Concert, Bakaliaro and Palm Sunday luncheons, Gyro Day, Parishioner of the year luncheon, and Axion Estin Celebration, in addition to the festival and the formal Axion Estin Reception. All these do not happen by accident. These events could not take place without you. You are constantly offering your valuable time, treasure and talent to our community. Working together we are making a difference. The star of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church shines brighter every year. Thank you all very much. I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Father Konstantinos for his exceptional vision, leadership, guidance and tireless work. Thank you Presbytera Anna and Eleni for your great support. We have many church ministries which facilitate and support our church activities and they are vital to our existence and success. A big thank you to St Catherine Philoptochos, the back bone of our church, to its board and every member for their love and unconditional support on everything we do. Thank you to our choir, Sunday school, Greek School, 100 th Anniversary Committee, PTO, Goya, Joy, Altar Boys and Golden Club. Thank you to our chanter, sexton, secretaries and the cleaning teams. Thank you to our outgoing youth director, Eleni Raschi. She has been serving our church for many years and in many capacities. We will miss her. I would like to also thank Carol Salvo, who was our former Parish Council secretary for almost 2 years. She has resigned from the PC, but is still an active member of the choir and the 100 th Anniversary Committee. Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to every single member of our parish council for their great support, commitment and hard work. Our 1 st VP Petros Tsourianis, our 2 nd VP Diane Karavitis, our treasurer Taso Dres, our assistant treasurer Cookie Caulfield, our house committee chair person Nick Boulas, Guy Bressette, Phillip Dres, Andy Galbadis, Danny Kourafalos, Paul Loutraris, Teddy Menounos, Stelios Sfikas and Kostas Tomadakis. They are the driving force behind every event and our success. They have been working hard for many years. I am very blessed to be a part of this great team. Thank you all very much. Our work however is not done. We need to continue building our youth school programs. Our kids are the future of our church and our tomorrow s leaders. We are very proud of them. Our Greek School is improving every year in quality and size. Congratulations to the Greek School & Sunday School teachers and parents. This is the second year our church has been able to send all the children who are interested to go to the Metropolis Summer Camp. I would like to thank the Philoptochos Society, PTO, GOYA and George Tsardounis for their monetary contributions to this program. Our church faces many challenges and it has great needs in many areas. The Heating System and the Altar ceiling need repairs. The Community Hall and the Kitchen upstairs need to be renovated and the AC needs to be replaced. Our greatest challenge is to generate additional streams of revenue for our church and community. This will be the major objective of the PC for the next few years. This will secure the future financial stability of our church. We need to continue working hard together as a family and making good decisions and implementing them for our church and community. I wish you all a very enjoyable and relaxing summer. 5 ΚΑΙ ΣΤΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ... Πολυαγαπημένοι μου ενορίτες, Έχουμε φτάσει και πάλι στο τέλος ενός άλλου Εκκλησιαστικού έτους. Τι καταπληκτική χρονιά ήταν αυτή η χρονία. Ξεκινήσαμε με ένα φεστιβάλ πού εσπασε το ρεκόρ στα έσοδα και κέρδη. Σας ευχαριστώ όλους για τη βοήθειά, την προσφορά και τη συμμετοχή σας. Υποδεχθήκαμε, με μια θαυμάσια δεξίωση, την θαυματουργή εικόνα του Άξιον Εστίν που θα μας καθοδηγεί και θα μας βοηθεί για τα επόμενα πολλά χρόνια. Ευχαριστώ αυτούς που εδώρισαν για την εικόνα, κάθε δολάριο ήταν πολύ σημαντικό. Καθιερώσαμε το γεύμα του ενορίτη της χρονίας και τον εορτασμό του Άξιον Εστίν. Είμαστε μια μικρή κοινότητα, αλλά πολύ ενεργητική, δυναμική και δραστήρια. Κάνουμε περισσότερες εκδηλώσεις από πολλές άλλες μεγαλύτερες εκκλησίες. Φέτος είχαμε 7 εκδηλώσεις εκτός από το φεστιβάλ και την υποδοχή της εικόνως του Άξιον Εστίν. Της Παναγίας,τις συναυλίες της Άνω Σύρου και του Κώστας Μήτση, το γεύμα Μπακαλιάρου και της Κυριακής των Βαΐων, την Ημέρα Γύρου,το γεύμα του ενορίτη της χρονίας και τον εορτασμό του Άξιον Εστίν. Όλα αυτά δεν συμβαίνουν τυχαία. Αυτά δεν θα μπορούσαν να πραγματοποιηθούν χωρίς ολους εσας. Συνεχώς προσφέρετε τον πολύτιμο χρόνο σας, τον οβολόν σας και το ταλέντο σας στην κοινότητά μας. Δουλεύοντας μαζί κάνουμε μια μεγάλη διαφορά. Το αστέρι της Εκκλησία της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου λάμπει πιο φωτεινά κάθε χρόνο. Σας ευχαριστώ όλους σας πάρα πολύ. Θα ήθελα να εκφράσω την ειλικρινή εκτίμηση και ευγνωμοσύνη μου στον πατέρα Κωνσταντίνο για την εξαιρετική όραση, την ηγεσία, την καθοδήγηση και την ακούραστη εργασία του. Σας ευχαριστούμε Πρεσβυτέρα Άννα και Ελένη για τη μεγάλη υποστήριξή σας. Έχουμε πολλές Διακονιες στην εκκλησία, οι οποίες διευκολύνουν και να υποστηρίζουν τις δραστηριότητές της εκκλησία μας και είναι ζωτικής σημασίας για την ύπαρξη και την επιτυχία μας. Ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στην Φιλόπτωχο της Αγίας Αικατερίνης, την σπονδυλική στήλη της εκκλησίας μας, στο διοικητικό της συμβούλιο και κάθε μέλος της για την αγάπη τους και την άνευ όρων υποστήριξη σε οτι κάνουν. Ευχαριστώ την χορωδία μας, το Κυριακάτικο και Ελληνικό σχολείο, την Επιτροπή εορτασμού της 100ης επετείου, τον ΠΤΟ, το Γκόγια, το Joy, τα παιδιά του Ιερού και τα Χρυσα Νιατα. Ευχαριστώ τον ψάλτη, τις γραμματείς μας, τον νεωκόρο και τις ομάδες καθαρισμού. Ευχαριστώ την απερχόμενη διευθύντρια της νεολαίας μας Ελένη Raschi. Έχει υπηρετήση την εκκλησία μας για πολλά χρόνια και σε πολλές θέσεις. Θα μας λείψει. Θα ήθελα επίσης να ευχαριστήσω την Carol Salvo πρώην γραμματέα του ΔΣ μας για σχεδόν 2 χρόνια. Έχει παραιτηθεί από την θέση της γραμματέας, αλλά εξακολουθεί να είναι ενεργό μέλος της χορωδίας και της Επιτροπής εορτασμού της 100ής επετείου. Τέλος, θα ήθελα να εκφράσω τη βαθύτατη ευγνωμοσύνη μου και την ειλικρινή εκτίμηση για κάθε μέλος του ενοριακού μας συμβουλίου για τη μεγάλη υποστήριξη, τη δέσμευσή τους και τη σκληρή δουλειά. Στον 1ο Αντιπρόεδρο Πέτρο Τσούργιανη, την 2η Αντιπρόεδρο Δήμητρα Καραβίτη, τον ταμίας μας Τάσο Δρε, την βοηθό ταμία Cookie(Παξιμαδι) Caulfield, τον πρόεδρο της επιτροπής κτηρίων Νίκο Μπουλά, τον Guy Bressette, τον Φίλιππο Δρε, τον Ανδρέα Γαλβάντη, τον Διονύσιο Κουράφαλο, τον Παναγιώτη Λουτράρη, τον Θεόδωρο Μενούνο, τον Στέλιος Σφήκα και τον Κώστα Τωμαδάκη. Αυτοί είναι η κινητήρια δύναμη πίσω από κάθε εκδήλωση και πιτυχία μας. Έχουν εργαστεί σκληρά για πολλά χρόνια για τα προγράμματα μας, την συντήριση κτηρίων και να εξασφαλίσουν οικονομικη σταθερώτητα στην εκκλησία μας. Είμαι πολύ ευλογημένος που είμαι ένα μέλος αυτής της ωραίας ομάδας. Σας ευχαριστώ όλους πάρα πολύ. Η δουλειά μας, ωστόσο, δεν έχει τελειώσει. Πρέπει να συνεχίσουμε να οικοδομούμε τα προγράμματα για τη νεολαία μας. Τα παιδιά μας είναι το μέλλον της Εκκλησίας μας και οι αυριανοί ηγέτες. Είμαστε πολύ περήφανοι γι 'αυτούς. Το Ελληνικό Σχολείο μας βελτιώνεται κάθε χρόνο ποιοτικος και σε μέγεθος. Συγχαρητήρια στους δασκάλους του Κατηχητικού και Ελληνικού σχολείου και τους γονείς. Εφέτος είναι η δεύτερη χρονιά που η εκκλησίας μας είναι σε θέση να στείλει όλα τα παιδιά που ενδιαφέρονται να πάνε στην κατασκήνωση της Μητρόπολης. Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω την Φιλοπτώχο της Αγιας Αικατερίνης, τον ΣΓ+Κ, το Γκόγια και τον Γιώργο Tσαρδούνη για τις χρηματικές συνεισφορές τους σε αυτό το πρόγραμμα. Η εκκλησία μας αντιμετωπίζει πολλές προκλήσεις και έχει μεγάλες οικονομικές ανάγκες σε πολλούς τομείς. Το σύστημα θέρμανσης και η οροφή του Ιερού χρειάζονται επισκευές. Η Κοινοτική αίθουσα και η κουζίνα στον επάνω όροφο θα πρέπει να ανακαινισθούν και να το σύστημα κλιμακισμού πρέπει να αντικατασταθεί. Η μεγαλύτερη πρόκληση είναι να δημιουργηθούν νέες πηγές εισοδήματος για την εκκλησία και την κοινότητά μας. Αυτό θα είναι ο κύριος στόχος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου εφέτος και τα επόμενα χρόνια. Αυτό θα εξασφαλίσει τη μελλοντική οικονομική σταθερότητα της εκκλησίας μας. Πρέπει να συνεχίσουμε να εργαζόμαστε σκληρά, μαζί ως οικογένεια και να λάβουμε θετικές αποφάσεις για την εκκλησία και την κοινότητά μας. 7 TRIP TO THE HOLY PROTECTION MONASTERY IN PENNSYLVANIA JUNE 23RD THRU JUNE 25TH, 2014 (CONTINUED) We want to say Thank You to Gregory & Patricia Evangelis for contributing the additional $ to cover the added expenses for our transportation to the Monastery, in White Haven, Pennsylvania. The monastery was founded in 1993 by former Abbot of Philotheou on Mt. Athos. The monastery follows the ancient way of monastic life, which consists of common meals, common prayer and church services, common work and rest periods. Daily program begins at midnight with keeping vigil with prayer and spiritual reading. The purpose of the monastic life is attaining to the Kingdom of Heaven.

8 Fr. Konstantinos along with the Parish Council would like to once again congratulate Themis for all her hard work and dedication to our church. Even though she needs no introduction, below is a brief biography. This year, the award recipient is our Parish Council assistant treasurer, Themis Caulfield aka Cookie. Cookie was born in New Jersey, moved to Somerville in 1968, and has 2 sons & 3 grandchildren. She has been on the Parish Council for a few years and currently serves as the assistant to our Treasurer. You will always find her at the Pangari on Sundays, and she organizes the monthly Pangari schedule for PC members. She always assists in setting up any function or service we have at Church and she is one the last ones to leave. She spends the Festival weekend helping to organize, count and keep track of all the money, as well as handling the money for other PC events. She spends countless hours in the office working, assisting, or researching many projects or issues. She always has a smile on her face, is always ready to volunteer, and never refuses to undertake any task. She is a loyal and very humble servant of our parish. Congratulations to her and her family! 9 Every year we ask our Parishioners for donations that are needed in order to beautify our Church for Panagia s Feast Day, which is also the Name Day of our Church celebrated on August 15th. 10 As we all enjoy the summer weather, keep in mind that your 100 th Anniversary Committee continues to meet and plan for the next two years. In May we ran a very successful Plant Sale and Rizogalo Sale on Gyro Day. In fact, we sold out of Rizogalo! Thank you to Angie Good and her helpers Mary Limberakis and Hope August for making all the rizogalo, and to Mike Ververis for donating the ingredients. We also thank everyone who helped run the Flower booth, and to Peter Tsourianis who supplied all the plants. The brainstorming of ideas for the 100 th Anniversary Album is coming along very well. If you have experience in the literary field or would like to help with ideas, please join us. Check our website for future meeting dates. The majority of time has been spent working on accumulating information for a 100 year timeline and opinions on possible styles of book covers. We are presently researching different publishers. Save the date! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25, 2015 for the next Brickbottom Reunion! Dance the night away to The Makredes Ensemble. More information to follow. Musical Composition Parameters for a musical composition contest are in the works to introduce to the public this September. The 100 th Anniversary Committee would like to invite musicians to enter an original instrumental piece between 3 10 minutes long, with no limit to style of music, to commemorate our Church s Centennial. We plan to introduce this piece to the public around Christmas time of This Contest will be posted on our website, the Church s Facebook page, and in flyers this Fall. 11 Koinotis Receipe Corner ASPARAGUS WITH PROSCIUTTO (Submitted by Presvytera Anna) 34 medium asparagus spears, ends trimmed (about 1,5 lb) 1 tablespoon olive oil Freshly ground black pepper 17 thin slices prosciutto, cut in half lengthwise (about 7 oz) INSTRUCTIONS INGREDIENTS Heat the oven to broil and arrange a rack about 5 to 6 inches below the heating element. Set a large plate aside. Place the asparagus on a baking sheet, drizzle it with the olive oil, and season with pepper. Using your hands, toss until the spears are evenly coated with the oil. Transfer them to the large plate and set the baking sheet aside. Starting just under the scaled tip of the asparagus, wrap each spear with 1 slice of prosciutto in a downward spiral toward the cut end, just barely overlapping the seams of the prosciutto. Place on the baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining asparagus, leaving as much space as possible between each spear while still fitting all of them onto the baking sheet. (Make sure the spears don t actually touch, or the asparagus and prosciutto will steam and won t crisp.) Broil for 3 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven, and flip the asparagus over. Return the baking sheet to the oven and continue to broil until the asparagus is charred in spots and the prosciutto is crisped and browned, about 3 minutes more. ΥΛΙΚΑ 34 σπαράγγια μεσαίου μήκους με κομμένα άκρα (περίπου 1,5 lb) 1 κουταλιά της σούπας ελαιόλαδο Φρεσκοτριμμένο μαύρο πιπέρι 17 λεπτές φέτες προσούτο, κομμένες στη μέση κατά μήκος (περίπου 7 oz) ΟΔΗΓΙΕΣ Ζεστάνετε το broil και βάλτε μιά σχάρα περίπου 5 έως 6 ίντσες κάτω από το θερμαντικό στοιχείο. Τοποθετήστε τα σπαράγγια σε ένα ταψί, περιχύστε τα με το λάδι και το πιπέρι. Χρησιμοποιώντας τα χέρια σας, αλείψτε τα ομοιόμορφα με το λάδι. Μεταφέρτε τα στο μεγάλο πιάτο και βάλτε προσωρινά το ταψί στην άκρη. Ξεκινώντας ακριβώς κάτω από την μύτη του σπαραγγιού, τυλίξτε κάθε ένα με 1 φέτα προσούτο λοξά προς το κομμένο άκρο, επικαλύπτοντας μόλις και μετά βίας τις ραφές του προσούτο. Τοποθετήστε το στο ταψί. Επαναλάβετε με τα υπόλοιπα σπαράγγια, αφήνοντας όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερο χώρο μεταξύ τους. (Βεβαιωθείτε ότι δεν αγγίζουν μεταξύ τους, διότι δεν θα γίνουν τραγανά.) Ψήστε τα για 3 λεπτά, αφαιρέστε το ταψί από το φούρνο και γυρίστε τα πάνω κάτω. Επιστρέψτε το ταψί στο φούρνο και ψήστε τα μέχρις ότου τα σπαράγγια και το προσούτο να γίνουν τραγανά και να ροδίσουν, περίπου άλλα 3 λεπτά ακόμη.

12 Greetings from the GOYA! The school year is wrapping up and so is the GOYA year. This spring Katrina Raschi, our GOYA Fellowship leader, submitted a poem for the Metropolis Oratorical Festival. She answered the prompt about when she experienced the presence of God and wrote about how she feels him all around her. ΤΑ ΝΕΑ ΤΗΣ GOYA Το σχολικο έτος κλείνει, και της GOYA επίσης. Την άνοιξη, η Κατερίνα Ράτση, Fellowship Leader της GOYA, έστειλε ένα ποίημα για το φεστιβάλ της μητρόπολης, απαντώντας στην ερώτηση, πως νιώθει έχοντας την παρουσία του Θεού γύρω της. Γράφει για την εμπειρία αυτή. In May, the GOYAns had a successful Mother's Day Dinner Dance. They organized it, managed it, and cleaned it up. Thanks go out to them for all their hard work and all those GOYA family members and friends who also helped out. Thanks also to everyone who came. We hope you enjoyed yourselves. Also in May, a few of our GOYAns attended a dance held by the Arlington GOYA. Thanks go to them for supporting other GOYAs. After schools close this month, the GOYAns are planning a fun trip to Kimball Farm. They've worked hard all year, now it's time to relax. Looking back we have had a successful year with everyone trying on changes to enrich the program. Thank you for making the effort. Thank you to the GOYAns who stepped up as leaders, to the GOYAns who came to so many meetings, events, and church services. We are proud of the Somerville GOYA and thank the families for supporting them.
