3 Ανακοινώσεις Η Χριστουγεννιάτικη Γιορτή για τα παιδιά της Η.Ο.Ρ.Ε. θα γίνει στις 20 Δεκεμβρίου. Θα είναι μια ξεχωριστή ημέρα με παιχνίδια, τραγούδια, λιχουδιές και τον Αϊ-Βασίλη που θα φέρει δώρα στα παιδιά. Προσκαλούνται όλα τα παιδιά της Κοινότητας (νεογέννητα 5 ετών). 4 Epistle of St. Paul: Hebrews 11:9-10; Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers. Verse: For you are just in all you have done. BRETHREN, by faith Abraham sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked forward to the city which has foundation, whose builder and maker is God. And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets - who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated - of whom the world was not worthy - wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Announcements H.O.P.E. Christmas Party - December 20 th The children in H.O.P.E. Playgroup will enjoy a special morning of crafts, songs, delicious snacks and a visit from Santa Claus. Philoptochos Vasilopita Luncheon - January 8th The Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society s annual Vasilopita Luncheon will be held at the Banquet Centre on Sunday, January 8th at 12:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend our first gathering of the year as one family where Father Alex will Bless and cut the Vasilopita. Tickets are $25 for Adults, $12 for Children 6-12 years of age, and free for Children 5 years & under. AHEPA Comedy Night January 27th The Ottawa Chapter of AHEPA is hosting a Comedy Night featuring comedian Mike Macdonald with special guest Efthimios Nasiopoulos on Friday, January 27th, 2017 at the Banquet Centre. Doors open at 7:30 pm, with the show starting at 8:30 pm. Tickets are $35. 5 Announcements The Gospel Reading: St. Matthew1:1-25 The sisters from Panagia the Comforter Monastery will be selling their Christmas Bread and other goodies in the Church Hall following the Liturgy. GOYA 2017 Calendar Fundraiser Our GOYA is selling beautiful 2017 Calendars for $20 in the Church Hall today. The calendars are illustrated by Katerina Mertikas and have traditional Greek recipes for preserves, jams and marmalades. The money raised helps support our GOYA, the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Montreal along with the Panagia the Comforter Monastery. Please support this cause and buy one. They make excellent Chrismas gifts. So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife, but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.

6 Rabbi, where are you staying? Master, Where Do You Live? The question John and Andrew asked of Jesus is one we direct to God today. Master, where do you live? Where can we find you? God Himself answered this question in the mystery of the Incarnation. He became man in Christ. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father (John 1:14). When Mary bent over the manger in Bethlehem, God was there! For 33 years of human history it was possible to point to Jesus and say, There is God! For 33 years, all well and good, but afterwards? Where do we find Him now? Master, where do you live now? Where can we find you now? Pointing to the consecrated elements of bread and wine in the Sacrament of Communion, He says to us, Come and see. This is my Body This is my Blood He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him. Master, where do you live? Come and see, He says, as He invites us to look into ourselves, into our own souls. It is there that He has chosen to dwell. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, says Paul (Ephesians 3:17). The word used is dwell not pay a visit. He wants to settle down there, live there the year round. He Who had nowhere to lay His head seeks to make His home in us. This is why He has chosen to come to us so simply and yet so mysteriously under the forms of bread and wine. Abide in me and I in you. Master, where do you live? In you! He says. You have been outfitted to contain God. You are God s temple. He waits to take up residence in us. He has claimed us as His children. Τι έγινε όμως μετά από τα τριάντα τρία, αυτά, χρόνια; Πού θα βρούμε, τώρα, το Θεό; «Κύριε, πού μένεις τώρα; Πού θα μπορέσουμε να σε βρούμε;» Τον ρωτάμε κι Εκείνος, δείχνοντά μας τον καθηγιασμένο άρτο και οίνο μας λέει: «Ελάτε. Να το Σώμα μου. Να το Αίμα μου... ο τρώγων μου την σάρκαν και πίνων μου το αίμα εν εμοί μένει καγώ εν αυτώ». «Κύριε, πού μένεις;» «Ελάτε να δείτε», μας λέει, και μας προσκαλεί να κοιτάξουμε μέσα βαθειά στην ψυχή μας γιατί εκεί έχει διαλέξει να κατοικεί. «Κατοικήσαι τον Χριστόν δια της πίστεως εν ταις καρδίαις υμών» (για να κατοικήσει ο Χριστός μέσα στις καρδιές δια της πίστεως) λέει ο Απόστολος Παύλος στην προς Εφεσίους Επιστολή Χρησιμοποιεί τη λέξη «κατοικήσει» όχι «επισκεφθεί» γιατί ο Θεός θέλει να ζει μέσα μας. Θέλει να είμαστε η κατοικία Του γι αυτό και διάλεξε να έλθει σε εμάς μέσω του μυστηρίου της μετατροπής του άρτου και του οίνου «Μείνατε εν εμοί καγώ εν υμίν». «Κύριε, πού μένεις;» «Μέσα σου», μας απαντά. «Έχεις πλαστεί για να έχεις μέσα σου το Θεό. Είσαι ναός του Θεού». Ο Θεός περιμένει να κατοικήσει μέσα μας και δεν θα ησυχάσει μέχρις ότου κυριεύσει την καρδιά μας και να την κάνει θρόνο Του. Π.
