If more than one memorial is scheduled, donors will be sharing the coffee fellowship if more than one family wants to sponsor coffee that day. Please call the office to sign up especially if a special occasion is approaching for your family such as an anniversary, a birthday, a name day, etc. St. George Community, We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many people who honored the memory of my husband and our father with their presence, prayers, flowers and generous donations. Mari Smith ATTENTION PARISHIONERS Before making plans for baptisms, weddings or memorial services, please check with the parish priest first to see if dates and times are permissible. Also, please refrain from scheduling baby and bridal showers during the Lenten fast. This is not a time for parties or celebrations but of prayer and reflection. Great Lent begins Monday, February 15th and Orthodox Pascha is Sunday, April 4 th. When scheduling a Sunday Memorial Service, remember to bring kolyva, wine, prosforo, olive oil or a donation for the poor. Please follow our Orthodox practices! Memorial services will not be celebrated on the following Sundays: February 21 st, March 7 th, 28 th, April 4 th,11 th, and May 23 rd. If you need to commemorate a loved one, please do so during the Saturday of Souls in February or on Sundays when Memorials are allowed PARISH COUNCIL Elections for new Parish Council members were held on December 6, Oath of Office wase administered on December 20, The Parish Council members for the 2010 year are: Mr. Peter C. SUNDAY SCHOOL The Community of Saint George cordially invites all the Godparents of Saint George to join us for a special liturgy honoring all Godparents on Sunday, February 14, All Sunday School students are asked to be in Church with their respective godparent. There will be no Sunday School on Godparent Sunday. We ask the community of St. George to bake and bring sweets to enjoy during the coffee fellowship hour.

LADIES PHILOPTOCHOS SOCIETY- Friends of the Poor Our January Meeting was cancelled. If you have not paid your 2010 membership dues, please see Georgia Kelly or Helen Salatas. Our meeting will include updated reports from several events that took place between November and February. Please plan on being there to hear about those items and all of our upcoming events. Joanne and to all of the ladies who baked the beautiful vasilopites. Thanks to everyone who made monetary donations and gave to St. Basil s Academy. We made a donation of $1, to the children of the Academy. 21 ST ANNUAL ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM ORATORICAL FESTIVAL It is time to begin preparation for the Oratorical Festival in our Parish, which is scheduled for Sunday, March 7, 2010 after Divine Liturgy. Sunday School will be from 10:00 a.m.-11:05 a.m. At 11:10 a.m.-the end of Liturgy, all students are to report to the church. The Oratorical Festival offers our youth the unique opportunity to express their faith, to research Orthodoxy in a meaningful way, and to reinforce and exhort each other to remain faithful to Jesus Christ and His Church. For these reasons, all of our young people will prepare speeches, poems, essays or iconography this year, whether or not they ultimately choose to participate. In this way, we further one of the primary missions of the Festival, which is to help our children learn more about their faith. Therefore, we ask you as parents, to please support the efforts of the church and your child by encouraging them to participate in this year s St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. Enthusiasm is contagious!! Please do your part to spread it throughout our parish and especially to our young people. We thank you for your cooperation, and doing your part to make this program a huge success. The Oratorical Festival is open for grades 1 st -12 th. Application deadline is Wednesday, February 24, Refreshments will be provided at the program. We look forward to your child s presentation at the Oratorical Festival. GREEK SCHOOL P.T.A. Mark you calendars for Sunday, the 14 th of March-the date for this year s Greek Independence Day celebration. We are looking for donors for our annual raffle! It is our biggest fundraiser! Past prizes have been Kerasotes Theatre Tickets, DVD Players, MP3 Players, TV s, or anything else you think will sell tickets. In the past, we have had groups that pool their money to donate something, or single contributors. The kids will be selling these tickets, so let s make it great! Last, but not least, we would like to thank Keria Vula for this year s Three Hierarchs Program held in church on Sunday, January 31 st. Thanks, also, to the parishioners who gave an offering for the special tray that was passed in support of our Plato Greek School and the parents who baked for the Three Hierarchs program. The Greek School P.T.A. JR. GOYA The Jr. GOYA had a movie night with pizza, popcorn and ice cream on Friday, January 8 th. Everyone had a good time and is looking forward to our upcoming dance. Keep the date open for Friday, February 12 th in Banquet Halls B & C for the Jr. & Sr. GOYA Valentine Dance which is open to everyone. See flier insert in this publication. All are invited! Εαν λαβει µερος η καθε οικογενεια τοτες θα ειναι υπευθυνη η καθε οικογενεια καθε 2 µε 3 η 4 χρονια εξαρ τωντας ποσες οικογενειες θα συµµετασχουν. Αληθεια το να προσφερει µια οικογενεια τον καφε καθε τοσα χρονια δεν ειναι πολυ. Τηλε φωνειστε στο γραφειο να δηλωσετε ιδιαιτερα εαν πλησιαζει καποια ειδικη εορτη οπως ειναι µια επετειος, γενεθλια, ονοµαστικη εορτη, κτλ. Τα µνηµοσυνα θα εχουν προτεραι οτητα. Τι τιµη λοιπον να κερασει κανεις τους συνενοριτες του συµφωνα µε την ελληνικη µας παραδοση.
