Ήταν κάποτε μία κυρία η οποία προσήλθε με μετάνοια να εξομολογηθεί σε κάποιον ιερέα. Ο ιερέας την καλοδέχτηκε, έβαλε το πετραχήλι του και την παρότρυνε να αρχίσει να του λέγει τα λάθη της. Η γυναίκα κόμπιαζε.μετά από λίγη ώρα και μετά από τα πειστικά λόγια του ιερέως ότι δεν χρειάζεται να ντρέπεται ή να φοβάται να ομολογήσει τα λάθη της, η γυναίκα άρχισε να του διηγείται τα λόγια, τις κατακρίσεις και τα κουτσομπολιά που σε όλη της την ζωή έλεγε για ανθρώπους που είτε τους γνώριζε είτε δεν τους είχε συναντήσει ποτέ.ο ιερέας την άκουσε υπομονετικά. Όταν τελείωσε ο ιερέας σηκώθηκε όρθιος. Της διάβασε την συγχωρητική ευχή. Η γυναίκα νόμιζε τελείωσαν και πήγε να φύγει.ο ιερέας όμως την είπε: «Μην βιάζεσαι, θέλω να πας στο σπίτι σου, να πάρεις το μαξιλάρι σου και να ανέβεις στην στέγη. Εκεί, να πάρεις ένα μαχαίρι και να ανοίξεις στα δυο το μαξιλάρι. Θέλω να το κάνεις αυτό και να παρατηρήσεις τι θα γίνει. Έλα αύριο να μου πεις τι έγινε.η γυναίκα πήγε και έκανε ότι της είπε ο ιερέας.την επαύριον η γυναίκα ξαναπήγε στον ιερέα.«έκανα ότι μου είπατε», είπε η γυναίκα. Ο ιερέας λοιπόν την ρώτησε: «Τι παρατήρησες καθώς έσκιζες το μαξιλάρι»; Η γυναίκα χωρίς δισταγμό είπε: «Με το που άρχισα να σκίζω το μαξιλάρι άρχισαν να βγαίνουν τα πούπουλα που υπήρχαν μέσα του και να γεμίζουν τον τόπο...κάποια τα έπαιρνε ο αέρας και τα πήγαινε πολύ μακριά».ο ιερέας μετά την σύντομη αυτή περιγραφή της είπε: «Τώρα λοιπόν, θέλω να πας σπίτι σου και να μαζέψεις όλα εκείνα τα πούπουλα που υπήρχαν μέσα στο μαξιλάρι σου»!η γυναίκα τα έχασε. «Μα, τι λέτε πάτερ, πώς να τα μαζέψω όλα εκείνα τα πούπουλα; Ένας Θεός ξέρει που έχουνε πάει τώρα με τον αέρα. Αυτό που λέτε είναι αδύνατο να το κάνω».ο ιερέας την κοίταξε στα μάτια γεμάτος ηρεμία και τις είπε: «Να λοιπόν τι είναι το κουτσομπολιό»!!!η γυναίκα σάστισε. Κατάλαβε ότι αν και μετάνιωσε γι αυτά που είπε, τα λόγια της ακόμα και τώρα πληγώνουν ανθρώπους και γίνονται αιτία σκανδαλισμού κι άλλων. Να μην φοβόμαστε τον Χριστό! «Ἡ τέλεια ἀγάπη βγάζει ἔξω τόν φόβο, ἐπειδή, ὁ φόβοςἔχει κόλαση, καί ἐκεῖνος πού φοβᾶται δέν ἔχει τελειωθεῖστήν ἀγάπη» (Α Ἰωάννου 4, 18)Ὅταν ἀγαπᾶς τόν Χριστό, παρόλες τίς ἀδυναμίες καί τή συναίσθηση πού ἔχεις γι αὐτές ἔχεις τή βεβαιότητα ὅτι ξεπέρασες τόν θάνατο, γιατί βρίσκεσαι στήν κοινωνία τῆςἀγάπης τοῦ Χριστοῦ.Τόν Χριστό νά τόν αἰσθανόμαστε σάν φίλο μας. Εἶναι φίλος μας. Τό βεβαιώνει ὁἴδιος, ὅταν λέει: «Ἐσεῖς εἶστε φίλοι μου» (Ἰω. 15,14). Σάν φίλο νά τόν ἀτενίζομε καί νά τόν πλησιάζομε. Πέφτομε; Ἁμαρτάνομε; Μέ οἰκειότητα, μέ ἀγάπη κιἐμπιστοσύνη νά τρέχομε κοντά του ὄχι μέ φόβο ὅτι θά μᾶς τιμωρήσει ἀλλά μέ θάρρος, πού θά μᾶς τό δίδει ἡ αἴσθηση τοῦφίλου. Νά τοῦ ποῦμε: «Κύριε, τό ἔκανα, ἔπεσα, συγχώρεσέ με».ἀλλά συγχρόνως νά αἰσθανόμαστε ὅτι μᾶς ἀγαπάει, ὅτι μᾶς δέχεται τρυφερά, μέ ἀγάπη καί μᾶς συγχωρεῖ. Νά μή μᾶς χωρίζει ἀπ τόν Χριστό ἡἁμαρτία. Ὅταν πιστεύουμε ὅτι μᾶςἀγαπάει καί τόν ἀγαπᾶμε, δέν θά αἰσθανόμαστε ξένοι καί χωρισμένοι ἀπ Αὐτόν, οὔτε ὅταν ἁμαρτάνουμε. Ἔχουμεἐξασφαλίσει τήν ἀγάπη Του κι ὅπως καί νά φερθοῦμε, ξέρομεὅτι μᾶς ἀγαπάει.

The Gospel of Luke 8:5-15 The Lord said this parable: "A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold." And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant, he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God; but for others they are in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience." As he said these things, he cried out "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

4 The Spiritual World The spiritual world is gained by sorrows. The scriptures say: We went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place (Ps. 66:12). For those who desire to serve God the path lies through many sorrows. How can we praise the holy martyrs for the sufferings which they bore for God, when we cannot even bear a fever?nothing so aids the acquiring of internal peace as silence, and as much as is possible, continual discussion with oneself and rarely with others.a sign of spiritual life is the immersion of a person within himself and the hidden workings within his heart.this peace, as some priceless treasure, did our Lord Jesus Christ leave his followers before His death, saying, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you (John 14:27). The apostle also spoke this about it: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7); Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Heb. 12:14).In this way, we must direct all our thoughts, desires and actions toward obtaining God s peace, and always cry out with the Church: Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us (Is. 26:12).It is necessary by all means to try to keep one s spiritual peace, and not to become provoked by insults from others. To do this, it is necessary always to restrain oneself from anger, and by careful watch to guard the mind and heart from unclean waverings.insults from others must be borne without disturbance; one must train oneself to be of such a nature, that one can react to insults as if they did not refer to oneself. Such an exercise can bring serenity to our heart and make it a dwelling of God Himself.We see an example of such a lack of malice in the life of St. Gregory the Miracle- Worker. A certain immoral woman demanded payment from him, purportedly for a sin committed with her. He, not in the least angry with her, humbly said to one of his friends: pay her the price which she demands, quickly. The woman became possessed as soon as she accepted the unrighteous payment. The bishop then prayed and exorcised the evil spirit from her. If it is impossible not to become indignant, then at least restrain your tongue according to the words of the Psalmist: I am so troubled that I cannot speak (Ps. 77:4).In this instance we can take as examples for ourselves St. Spyridon of Tremifunt and St. Ephraim the Syrian. And so the monk went, sat next to the broken vessel, and, gathering the food together, ate it. He was thus without malice!in order to keep spiritual peace, it is necessary to chase dejection away from oneself, and to try to have a joyful spirit, according to the words of the most wise Sirach: Sorrow has killed many, but there is no good in it (Sir. 30:25).In order to keep spiritual peace it is also necessary to avoid judging others in any way. Condescension towards your neighbor and silence protect spiritual peace. When a person is in such an state, then he receives Godly revelations.in order not to lapse into judgment of others, it is necessary to be mindful of oneself, to refuse to receive any bad information from anyone and to be as if dead to others.for the protection of spiritual peace it is necessary to enter into oneself more often and ask: Where am I? In addition, it is necessary to watch that the physical senses, especially sight, serve the inner person, not diverting the soul with mortal items, because the gifts of grace are received only by those who have inner workings and keep watch over their souls.
