When O Christ our God Thou wast Transfigured on the mountain Thou didst reveal Thy glory to Thy disciples in proportion as they could bear it. Let Thine everlasting light also enlighten us sinners. 3 Epistle St. Paul s Second Letter to the Corinthians 6 :16 18; 7:1 BRETHREN, you are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God. Gospel Luke 6:31-36 The Lord said, "And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful." Receiving Holy Communion The sacrament of Holy Communion is reserved for only baptized and/or Chrismated Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared by fasting, prayer and confession. The Orthodox Church is not in sacramental communion with any other church outside the Orthodox Christian Faith. If you are not Orthodox, you are invited with everyone to receive the Antidoron (blessed bread) at the end of service. If you would like information about the Orthodox Church, please see Fr. Philoptochos Transfiguration Community Christmas Card Project This year again, just stop by the Philoptochos table, and for a suggested donation of $25, you can add your name in the beautiful Christmas greeting that we send out to our members and to many more. November 1, 2014 Taste of Greece/ Holiday Bazaar / Junk & Jems Garage Sale. Yes, it s true! You can clean your closet ( new or gently used items only please) and then come relax and have some fun in our bazaar. The proceeds from the garage sale go directly to Fr. Vasileios Benevolent Fund. Please start thinking about what you can donate to help make this a success. The pictures will be used on a presentation during the November 9 luncheon honoring veterans. Membership Drive Our membership drive for is happening now! Please come to the Philoptochos table (near the bookstore) to get your membership packet, pay your dues, and get updated on upcoming events. We are there every Sunday during coffee hour.

OCF News Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 7 Location CAL 419 Compassionate Friends Ministry The Compassionate Friends Ministry is part of the greater Philoptochos Ministry, but not limited to the Philoptochos membership. It is an arm of our Church. Those in this ministry first and foremost offer a connection of loving companionship to people who are bound to their homes either out of illness or age, so that they remain connected to the grace and love of Jesus Christ through our Church. The ministry, also, extends itself to those who may have recently undergone surgery, are in the hospital, are isolated, are in grief, or have given birth to a child. Vasileios will be leading a study of the book: The Prison Epistles: Philippians-Ephesians- Colossians-Philemon by Lawrence R. Farley. Exploring Modern Orthodoxy Fr. Deacon George has begun a class for the young adults which is proving to be very informative and captivating. The class meets every other week on Thursdays. Everyone is welcome to join them! Their next meeting will be on Thur., October 30, at 6:30pm in the fellowship hall. Nativity Pageant The roles have been casted and the actors are ready to start rehearsals.
