There are some days when Memorials are not permitted please call the church office before planning. Memorials take place at 40 days, at 6 months, at 1 year and at 3 years. After three years have passed, the departed are more properly remembered on the Saturdays of the Souls. Please also remember that we have discontinued the custom of placing candles in the kolyva. The time has come and we need a three-year expression of enthusiasm and support from EVERY steward and friend 100% of us! Please pledge now! SHUT-INS Please inform the Church office about elderly or ill individuals who would like our priest to visit them and bring them Holy Communion during this holy season. WHO CAN RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION? Because receiving Holy Communion or any other Sacrament is an expression of our acceptance of the dogmatic and moral teachings of the Orthodox Faith, only Orthodox Christians (by baptism or chrismation) in good standing may participate. For this reason, persons who do not agree with these teachings, or not in good standing (for example, married outside the church, or unmarried but sexually active, or civilly divorced but not ecclesiastically divorced), must return to good standing in order to participate in Orthodox Sacraments such as Holy Communion and Unction. This is also why Orthodox Christians do not receive sacraments in non- Orthodox churches. Because many people receive the Holy Eucharistic every Sunday, the ushers will ask you to approach the Holy Chalice row by row in order to have a more peaceful and spirit-filled experience. 3 2017 Stewardship DISCOVER THE LIGHT! We remind you to please submit your 2017 Stewardship Card to our church. Stewardship is the foundation for all of our financial and spiritual goals. Our Church and its many ministries are possible because of the love and support of you, our Stewards. ANNUAL PALM SUNDAY LUNCHEON April 9 is Palm Sunday! The St. Haralambos PTA invites you to its annual Palm Sunday Luncheon, after church services on Sunday, April 9. Because of space limitations, reservations are required. The donation will be $20 for fish with skordalia, araka, beets, wine, bread, and cake and $8 for spaghetti with marinara sauce; a number of "To Go" orders will also be available at $20. To make reservations, please call the Church office ( ). ANNUAL EASTER BAKE SALE The St. Haralambos Ladies Philoptochos invite you to their Annual Easter Bake Sale, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, April 5-6 in our Community Center. A great opportunity to buy your Easter Tsourekia, red eggs and pastries! Lunch will be served both days, and the Coffee Shop will be open! Please tell your friends, and bring them with you to shop for all your Easter Pastries and breads! The Bake Sale will be from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. SATURDAY OF LAZAROS FAMILY RETREAT Join us for a transformational retreat for the entire family! The day will begin ANNOUNCEMENTS Join us on a beautiful and unforgettable pilgrimage to the Holy Land (9 nights) and Moscow (3 nights), September 17-30, The cost will be only $4100 (double occupancy). 5 Epistle and Gospel Readings for Today EPISTLE Hebrews 9: Brethren, but when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) He entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but His own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
