O Savior the third day You arose, and unto all the world did You give life. Whereby all the heavenly powers did proclaim that You are the giver of life. Glory unto our resurrected Christ. Glory unto Your Kingdom. Glory to Your dispensation O You alone who loves all. Apolytikion for the Church Like a most fruitful olive tree you did blossom forth in the folds of the Lord, Sophia, martyr most pious! And to Christ you did bring sweetest fruit: the tender sprouts of your womb, through divine martyrdom, Agape, along with Hope and Faith. The God-minded with whom do you pray to God for all of us. The Kontakion before the Nativity On this day the Virgin comes forth to give birth to God the Word ineffable! On this day she comes to the cave to give birth to Him Who was before all. Dance for joy, O earth, on hearing the gladsome tidings! Glory to Him, from the angels and with the shepherds, Who is willing to be gazed on as a young child, who before all ages is God! 2 Epistle Reading The Reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 5:8-19 Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light." Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart. 3 Gospel Reading 10th Sunday of Luke The Reading is from Luke 13:10-17 At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. Καηὰ Λνπθᾶν Τῷ θαηξῷ ἐκείνῳ, Ην δὲ δηδάςκων ἐν κηᾷ ηῶν ςυναγωγῶν ἐν τοῖσ ςάββαςι. θαὶ ἰδοὺ γπλὴ ἦν πνεῦμα ἔχουςα ἀςθενείασ ἔτη δέκα καὶ ὀκτώ, καὶ ἦν ςυγκύπτουςα καὶ κὴ δπλακένη ἀνακῦψαι εἰσ τὸ παληειέσ. ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὴν ὁ Ιηςοῦσ προςεφώνηςε θαὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ γύναι, ἀπολέλυςαι τῆσ ἀςθενείασ ςου θαὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτῇ ηὰσ χεῖρασ θαὶ παξαρξῆμα ἀνωρθώθη καὶ ἐδόξαζε τὸν Θεόν. ἀποκριθεὶσ δὲ ὁ ἀρχιςυνάγωγοσ, ἀγανακτῶν ὅτι ηῷ ζαββάτῳ ἐθεράπευςεν ὁ Ιηςοῦσ, ἔλεγε ηῷ ὄχλῳ ἓξ ἡμέραι εἰςὶν ἐν αἷσ δεῖ ἐργάζεςθαι ἐν ταύταισ νὖν ἐρχόμενοι ζεξαπεύεςθε, καὶ κὴ ηῇ ἡμέρᾳ ηνῦ ζαββάτου. ἀπεκρίθη οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ Κύριοσ καὶ εἶπεν ὑποκριτά, ἕκαςτοσ ὑμῶν τῷ ζαββάτῳ νὐ ιύει τὸν βοῦν αὐτοῦ ἢ ηὸν ὄνον ἀπὸ ηῆσ φάτνησ θαὶ ἀπαγαγὼν πνηίζει; ηαύτην δέ, ζπγαηέρα Αβραὰμ νὖςαν, ἣν ἔδηςεν ὁ ζαηαλᾶσ ἰδοὺ δέκα καὶ ὀκτὼ ἔτη, νὐκ ἔδει λυθῆναι ἀπὸ ηνῦ δεζκνῦ ηνύτου τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ηνῦ ζαββάτου; θαὶ ηαῦτα λέγοντοσ αὐτοῦ θαηῃςχύνοντο πάντεσ οἱ ἀντικείμενοι αὐτῷ, καὶ πᾶσ ὁ ὄχλοσ ἔχαιρεν ἐπὶ πᾶςι ηνῖσ ἐνδόξοισ ηνῖσ γινομένοισ ὑπ αὐτοῦ.

6 !! Mark Your Calendars!! St. Sophia's welcomes back Jim Dailakis world renowned comedian, impressionist, writer, and actor. Many of you will remember Jim, he lived in Syracuse from 1996 to 2000 and often attended our Church. Jim Dailakis has performed in many of the top comedy clubs worldwide with his regular stand up acts and also does a "Greek Comedy Night" based on our heritage. This will be an event not to be missed! Please note that show content is appropriate for mature audiences ages 15 to seniors. For those under the age of 15 there will be age appropriate entertainment in the lower level during the comedy show. Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids under 15. For those under the age of 15, they will go to the lower level social hall for an adult chaperoned fun filled time during the show and then join us after the show for Greek dancing. Ticket price includes the comedy show, light mezethes and there will be a cash bar during the cocktail hour followed by Greek dancing to the music of DJ George Stamoulacatos.
