Proceed ing w ith the transm ission line theo2 ry, the analytic fo rm u la of the inp ut im pedance fo r the p rin ted IFA ( inverted F antenna) is educed, and the regu larity of its im pedance variation w ith its horizontal branch length is studied. B ased on the cu rren t distribution characteristic of each branch of the p rinted IFA, the analytic form ula of the radia2 tion electric field is derived, w hich p roves that the p rinted IFA has both isotrop ic rad iation and cross polarization characteristics. The im p acts of all the d im ension param eters on both input im pedance and resonant frequency of the p rin ted IFA are sim ulated, and the im pact regularity along w ith the antenna design m ethod is given as w ell, based on w hich a sm all size p rinted IFA fo r B luetoo th W HAN is de2 signed. The experim en tal results show that around 214 GH z w hen V SW R ( voltage stand ing w ave ra2 tio) is below 2. 0 the band w idth is about 490 M H z, w hich is enough for the 21400-21484 GH z band of B luetoo th, and the m easured radiation patterns also testify further that the antenna has both i2 sotrop ic radiation and cross polarization characteristics. Furtherm ore, the antenna can be integ rated w ith B luetooth m odule, and varieties of B luetooth p roducts w ith the antennas are already in comm er2 cial usage, w hich has w on Science & Technology A dvancem ent Prize of J iangsu Province.
