In particu2 lar, Cave drop stones2stalagm ites offered u s a k ind of distinctive data sou rce as con tinen tal paleoclim ate arch ives. In th is paper, the au tho rs review ed the advance in th is field in detail from the stab le iso tope, sta2 lagm ite m icrobanding, trace elem en ts geochem istry, petro logy and crystallography of speleo them s. Fo r examp le, a pure temperatu re signal has been separated ou t from the reco rds by u tilizing speleo them delta function, and the h isto ry of changing vegetation has been traced by u sing the 13 C in speleo them calcite and the variation in the pho to syn thetic pathw ay of p rairie p lan ts compared to fo rest species.
