6 Intended use This remote control is intended to operate hearing instruments. Read and follow the instructions of this user guide to avoid injuries and to protect your remote control from damage. Symbols: Be aware of information marked with the warning symbol WARNING, CAUTION or NOTICE! WARNING points out a situation that could lead to serious injuries, CAUTION indicates a situation that could lead to minor and moderate injuries. NOTICE indicates possible property damage. Advice and tips on how to handle your device better. Instruction. Indicates that something has to be done. Read and follow the instructions in the user guide. 6
7 General notes on safety EN WARNING Wireless systems may interfere with measuring devices and electronic equipment. Turn your device off when in hospitals or airplanes. Prior to use in conjunction with an electronic implant or life supporting system, have the electromagnetic compatibility verified. WARNING Risk of interference with active implants e.g. pacemakers. Consult a cardiologist before using accessories with audio streaming functions together with active implants. ES PT EL TR WARNING Risk of affecting electronic equipment! In areas where the use of electronics or wireless devices are restricted, verify if your device has to be turned off. 7
8 NOTICE Your device is sensitive to extreme heat, high humidity, strong magnetic fields (> 0.1T), X-rays and mechanical stress. Do not expose your device to extreme temperature or high humidity. Do not leave it in direct sunlight. Do not immerse it in water. Do not place your device in a microwave oven. In some countries restrictions for the usage of wireless equipment exist. Refer to local authorities for further information. The performance of the wireless function may be affected by electromagnetic interference e.g. from a computer monitor or fluorescent lamp system. Move away from the source of interference if you experience difficulty. In the event your hearing instruments can be controlled by another person's remote control, return hearing instruments and remote control to your Hearing Care Professional. 8
9 WARNING Risk of explosion! Do not use your remote control in explosive atmospheres (e. g. in mining areas). WARNING Risk of explosion when the rechargeable battery is handled wrong. Do not short circuit, pierce, crush or disassemble the rechargeable battery. Prior to return the battery for recycling, tape the electrodes to prevent short circuit, which may cause the battery to explode. Do not place it in oven or fire. Do not immerse it in water. Charge the rechargeable battery between 0ºC and 45ºC. Remove the rechargeable battery when the instrument is not in use for a prolonged period of time. EN ES PT EL TR 9
10 WARNING Risk of strangulation! Ensure that the lanyard does not get entangled, e. g. in moving mechanical parts of machines. Use only the delivered breakaway lanyard. It will automatically detach when entangled. Do not use the lanyard for children under the age of twelve. NOTICE To avoid environmental pollution, do not throw batteries into household trash. Recycle or dispose of batteries according to national regulations or return them to your Hearing Care Professional. WARNING Choking hazard! Your device contains small parts which can be swallowed. 12 Basic functions Before first use Insert the rechargeable battery into the remote control. Charge the rechargeable battery before first use. Charging Connect the remote control with the power plug to a power supply. Charging is complete when the battery symbol shows a full battery. Wearing the remote control Wear the remote control within a distance of 1 m (40 inches) to the hearing instruments. Turn the remote control in the same direction you are facing. 12

TR Changing the volume Press Press to increase the volume. to decrease the volume. Changing the SoundBalance (Treble) Press + (up) to get a more shrill sound. 14 Read out the hearing instrument's information Hold the remote control close to one of your hearing instruments (about 10 cm / 4 inches). Press the read out button. Turning the hearing instruments on/off Press the read out button for more than 5 seconds to turn your hearing instruments off. Press one of the program buttons on the remote control to turn the hearing instruments back on. Turning the remote control on/off Press for about 5 seconds to turn the remote control off. Press for about 5 seconds to turn the remote control back on. 14

17 Using the remote control with a phone Before the phone and remote control can be connected you need to: activate the Bluetooth function in your phone. pair phone and remote control. Activate the Bluetooth function in your phone. Pairing Press and hold on the remote control for about 7 seconds. Search in the menu of your phone for other Bluetooth devices. Choose "Tek Connect" to pair the remote control and the phone. Insert the PIN EN ES PT EL TR Refer to the User Guide of your phone for more detailed information on how to link devices via Bluetooth. The remote control can only be paired with one phone at a time. If you start to pair another phone with the remote control, the first pairing information will be deleted. 17
18 Press to connect the remote control with the phone. The remote control shows the phone symbol when your phone and your remote control are connected. Accepting / rejecting an incoming call Press to accept the incoming call. Speak into the microphone of the remote control to talk. You need to speak within a range of about 0.5 m (20 inches) from the microphone. Press to terminate or reject the call. Your hearing instruments switch back to the hearing program you used before taking the call. Making a call Dial the desired number on your phone. Charging the Transmitter Connect the Transmitter with the power plug to a power supply. As long as the red LED is lit the Transmitter is charging. Charging time is about 5 hours depending on the status of the rechargeable battery. 19

21 EN Use one of the delivered cables to connect the Transmitter with an external device (refer to graphic on previous page). Connect the Transmitter with the power plug to a power supply or charge the rechargeable battery regulary. Use the remote control to change to the audio program. The blue LED on the Transmitter confirms that the Bluetooth audio link is established. You can now hear sound from the TV through your hearing instruments. The hearing instruments will switch automatically to the telephone program when your phone rings. Press to answer the phone. Press to terminate or reject the call. 22 Using the direct audio input Connecting directly to your mp3 player Choose the delivered cables and adapters to connect the external device and the remote control. Change to the audio program. The hearing instruments will switch automatically to the telephone program when your phone rings. Press to answer the phone. Press to terminate or reject the call. Your hearing instruments will change back to the audio program. While charging do not use the stereo socket with devices that are connected to the power supply. 22
23 Maintenance and care EN NOTICE Do not put your device in water! Do not clean your device with alcohol or benzine. Clean the remote control as necessary with a soft tissue. Avoid abrasive cleaning liquids with additives such as citric acids, ammonia, etc. ES PT EL TR 23
