8 N-PACK N-PACK is the most classical range of batten luminaires. New in design and features, N-PACK is available in three basic batten versions (NPP, NPQ and NPW) and can be used with two different trunking systems (NAL and NBL); a vast range of optical accessories is also available. Main features: protection class IP 4 (IP 54 for NPW); conforms to latest installation standards; very fast installation thanks to special new devices and design solutions; easy inspection and maintenance; suitable for continuous mounting; extremely reliable electric components; polycarbonate lampholders with IP 4 or IP 54 protection on fluorescent tube caps, as well; complies with radio interference suppression legislation; mark GE Lighting 6

9 N-PACK NPW IP 54 Class: I Mark: Standards: CEI EN V 5Hz D L High IP 54 protection class luminaires for T8 fluorescent lamps. Cover and attachments can be fitted quickly without tools, cutting installation and maintenance costs. Luminaires comply with radio interference suppression legislation (D.M ). The high IP 54 protection class of NPW luminaires makes them ideal for installation areas where fire risks are high (see CEI Standard 64.8 variant V2). Suitable also for electrical installation in AD-FT type hazardous areas, in the following applications: CLASS rating ZR CLASS 1 rating ZR CLASS 3 rating Z2 In these cases use NPGTW polycarbonate tubes, taking the following maximum surface temperatures on the outside of the housing into account: Tfn Tfg standard operation in event of failure NPW/X C 1 C NPW/X C 13 C NPW/X C 1 C NPW/X C 13 C Body and cover: bonderised cold-rolled steel (thickness 5/1 mm for body, 6/1 mm for cover) with a white epoxy-polyester powder paint finish. Cover is mounted on the body using special wing nuts. Lampholder: polycarbonate, fitted to the body by a safety clip; complete with soft LOMOD ring nuts to ensure an effective seal and prevent any danger of the lamp failing; the rotor system anables continuous mounting of the luminaires. Control gear and electric circuit: wired for 22V 5Hz using.5 mm 2 sized cables with silicon sleeves; power factor correction using explosion-proof capacitor built-in discharge resistor; terminal block with 2,5 mm 2 clamping screws.the control gear circuit wiring is located on a removable sheet plate located inside the luminaire. Cable entry: using special hole in body through D18 grommet. Seals: expanded polyurethane resin between the body and cover plate; rubber between lampholder and luminaire body. Cover and attachments can be fitted quickly without tools, cutting installation and maintenance costs. Body and cover: bonderised cold rolled 5/1 mm sheet steel with white epoxy-polyester powder paint finish. The cover is clipmounted to the body. Lampholder: polycarbonate, fitted to the body by a safety clip; complete with ring nuts as a further safety feature to guaranteee IP 4 and to prevent the lamp from fall; the rotor system enables continuous mount of luminaires. Starter: positioned to the side of the body, allowing routine maintenance operations without need to remove lamp or accessories. Control gear and electric circuit: 23V 5Hz wired with.75 mm 2 section heat-resistant (HT 9 C), fire-retardant cable in compliance with CEI 2-22/II, with explosion-proof capacitor with built-in discharge resistor in the HPF version, with power factor correction; terminal block with 2,5 mm 2 clamping screws. 12 N-PACK NPQ N-PACK IP 4 Class: I Mark: Standards: CEI EN V 5Hz L Quick mechanical fitting Version without cover specially designed for mounting on NAL or NBL trunking using a mechanical and electrical clip system that requires no tools. The electrical connection uses a NAL 1652 terminal socket accessory previously fitted to the NAL or NBL trunking (see page 18). Body and cover: cold-rolled bonderised 5/1 mm sheet steel with a white epoxy-polyester powder paint finish. Lampholder: polycarbonate, fitted to the body by a safety clip; complete with ring nuts to ensure IP 4 and provide a further safety measure against the falling lamp; the rotor system enables continuous mounting of luminaires. Starter: position on side of body, allowing routine maintenance operations without removing lamp or accessories. Control gear and electrical circuit: 23V 5Hz wired with,75 mm 2 section heatresistant (HT 9 C), fire-retardant cable in compliance with CEI 2-22/II, with explosionproof capacitor and built-in discharge resistor (HPF version) with power factor correction. Quick electric fitting: the system uses a terminal plug mounted in the body for quick electrical connection with the NAL 1652 terminal socket (not included) previously installed on trunking. Quick mechanical fiting: the system comprises a ring nut which forms an integral part of the body, a catch pin coaxial to the ring nut, and a spring clip which fastens to the trunking. Turn the right nut and pin to different positions to fit/release the luminaire or mount accessories. 21 MARINER Mariner offers a new complete range of waterproof luminaires: MAR/P and MAR/P Super. These fittings present a degree of product diversity which is perfectly capable of adapting to the most specific application demands. The special technical features and irresistible quality of Lexan polycarbonate produced by General Electric make the Mariner line worthy candidate for the leadership in IP 65 total protection. 4 Nylon clips with steel joints This combination of materials was determined by stress analysis studies, which identified the most suitable material for each function: stainless steel for parts under cutting stress, fibreglass strenghtened nylon for parts demanding a high degree of elasticity. The set also includes: tamper-proof securing screw system; suspended diffuser for maintenance; stainless steel clips on request Sealing The special shaping of the diffuser guarantees a perfect seal and easy centering with the body. The long-life polyurethane sealing foam is applied using ecological methods, without the use of freon gas. 1 2 Reflector mounting without tools The internal reflector is easily mounted; just turn the pawl 9. 26 SPECIAL VERSIONS EB VERSION WITH ELECTRONIC BALLAST The electronic ballast is a high frequency (43 khz) power supply device for fluorescent lamps, which substitutes the standard magnetic ballast, starter and power factor correction capacitor. The electronic ballasts are compatible with normal T8 (Ø 26 mm) tubular fluorescent lamps. The ideal combination is obtained with the use of POLYLUX XL high colour rendition factor tubes, ensuring low running costs and excellent colour rendering. 27 SPECIAL VERSIONS EES VERSION FOR ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY SERVICE The EES (Electronic Emergency Service) is an autonomous system for fluorescent lamps in an emergency situation. The system comprises a power supply unit of hermetically sealed long-life Nickel-Cadmium batteries, particulalrly resistant to high temperatures (7 C); an electronic inverter unit; and a LED, for indicating battery condition (IEC standard ) Luminaires are supplied with an EES for PERMANENT lighting; the lamp is powered alternatively by the mains voltage, or by the batteries in case of mains voltage cut off. The inverter incorporates an inhibition circuit to prevent emergency operation while mains voltage is on. In twin-batten luminaires, only one lamp is connected to the EES. This solution has the following advantages: damage-free operation without all lamps operating, e.g. in the event of lamp failure; protection against total battery discharge. VIT VERSION WITH RAPID SAFETY STARTER VIT 2 All luminaires between 18W and 58W (except for 2 x 18W) can be equipped with rapid safety starters, which not only cut starting time by half compared to a conventional starter, but also automativally cut out burned-out or faulty lamps. Simply press the red button on the top of the starter to re-activate the electric circuit. The cut-out device protects both the power supply and the starter alike. Thanks to the above features, the VIT 2 starter lasts four times longer than an ordinary starter.
