The results show ed that the variation coefficient of P n and RSP of individuals w ithin a rice variety w as 210% - 11. 0% and. 5% - 9. 5% but it w as 11. 1% and 11. 2% among rice varieties respectively. A nalysis of statis2 tics w ith experim ental results show ed that the difference of P n and RSP among rice varieties w as significant at 1% level but no t betw een indica and japonica rice. The num bers of indica rice w ith high P n and japonica rice w ith long RSP w ere relatively mo re. A cco rding to the clustering results 42 rice varieties w ere separated into three group s i. e. high m iddle and low of P n and RSP respectively. into 4 quadrants. Two dim ension compo sito r w as m ade in rice varieties fo r P n and RSP and this coo rdinate w as divided The distribution frequency of indica and japonica rice varieties w as the highest in the second and first quad2 rant respectively. Som e rice varieties regarded as special pho to synthesis resources w ere screened out such as Xieyou 908 L unhui 422 W uyujing 8 N PT Shanyou 129. They m ight be used to op tim ize rice cro ssing and study pho to synthesis heredity imp roving in rice.
