α Bring my soul out of prison that I may confess Your name. As the Prodigal Son, I also come to You, O compassionate Lord, and I fall down before You. Accept me as one of Your hired servants, and have mercy on me. β The righteous shall wait patiently for me until You reward me. As the man who fell among thieves and was wounded, I too have fallen through my sins and my soul is wounded. To whom shall I flee for refuge, guilty that I am, if not to You, the merciful Physician of our souls? Pour on me, O God, the oil of Your great mercy. γ Out of the depths I have cried to You, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Sinner though I am, O Savior, do not cut me down as the barren fig tree. Grant me forgiveness for my many years of sin, and water my soul with tears of repentance, that as fruit I may offer You acts of mercy and compassion. δ Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. You are the Sun of righteousness; illumine the Ὡς Ἥλιος ὑπάρχων δικαιοσύνης, hearts of those who praise You, singing: φωταγώγησον τὰς καρδίας, τῶν σὲ Glory to You, O Lord. 1

Prosomoia Stichera By Joseph Tone 3 Great is Your Cross Stichos 5 If You should mark iniquities, Lord, Lord, who shall stand? For with You there is forgiveness. O you faithful, let us take upon ourselves great labors in this season of abstinence, that we may obtain great glory, delivered from the flames of hell through the mercy of our great God and King. Stichos 6 For Your name s sake I have patiently waited for You, Lord; my soul has waited patiently for Your word, my soul has hoped in the Lord. Now that we have passed beyond the middle point in the time of the Fast, let us manifest in ourselves a beginning of divine glory, and let us hasten eagerly towards our journey s end, the life of holiness, that we may receive the joy that does not grow old. Another By Theodore Stichos 7 Grave Tone Setting aside all things From the morning watch until night, from the morning watch let Israel hope in the Lord. Having passed beyond the middle point in this holy season of the Fast, with joy let us go forward to the part that still remains, anointing our heads with the oil of almsgiving. So may we be counted worthy to venerate the divine Passion of Christ our God, and to attain His dread and holy Resurrection. Stichos 7 Στίχος ζ From the morning watch until night, from the morning watch let Israel hope in the Lord. You opposed the grumblings of the Hebrews and their cruel boldness with the courage of your noble convictions, for you contemplated in advance the coming goods, when joy would remain forever without change; you found endless happiness when you passed from earth to the heavenly wedding feast, O glorious Martyr Matrona. Stichos 8 Στίχος η For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption; and He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Repeat) You opposed the grumblings of the Hebrews and their cruel boldness with the courage of your noble convictions, for you contemplated in advance the coming goods, when joy would remain forever without change; you found endless happiness when you passed from earth to the heavenly wedding feast, O glorious Martyr Matrona. Stichos 9 Στίχος θ Praise the Lord, all you nations; praise Him, all you peoples. You were allowed to contemplate the royal splendor, the delightful beauty of the Bridegroom, adorned with the jewels of your struggles; you were worthy to approach the Source of all good, receiving immortal renown as the fruit of divine happiness in the hereafter. Another Idiomelon By Stefanos Tone Plagal 2 To You I have lifted up my eyes, to You Who dwell in heaven. Behold, the eyes of servants look unto the hands of their masters, as the eyes of the handmaid look to the hands of her mistress, so do our eyes look unto the Lord our God, until He takes pity upon us. Adam fell among thieving thoughts; his mind was robbed, his soul wounded, and he lay naked with none to help. The priest that was before the Law did not attend to him, the Levite that came after the Law did not look upon him. You alone have helped him, O God Who came not from Samaria but from Maria the Theotokos; glory be to You. Martyrikon Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, for we are greatly filled with lowliness. Greatly has our soul been filled therewith; let reproach come upon those who prosper, and lowliness upon the proud. Your martyrs, O Lord, did not deny You and did not forsake Your commandments; through their intercessions have mercy on us.
