ΤΗΕ EPISTLE St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 5:1-10 The Lord is my strength and my song. Verse: The Lord has chastened me sorely Brethren, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have obtained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Why, one will hardly die for a righteous man -- though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die. But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

5 ΤΟ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ Ἐκ τοῦ Κατὰ Ματθαῖον 6:22-33 Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος Ο λύχνος τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν ὁ ὀφθαλμός ἐὰν οὖν ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἁπλοῦς ᾖ, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου φωτεινόν ἔσται ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρὸς ᾖ, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου σκοτεινὸν ἔσται. εἰ οὖν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἐν σοὶ σκότος ἐστί, τὸ σκότος πόσον; Οὐδεὶς δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει. οὐ δύνασθε Θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ. Εἰ δὲ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ, σήμερον ὄντα καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον, ὁ Θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέννυσιν, οὐ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι; μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε λέγοντες, τί φάγωμεν ἢ τί πίωμεν ἢ τί περιβαλώμεθα; πάντα γὰρ ταῦτα τὰ ἔθνη ἐπιζητεῖ οἶδε γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων ἁπάντων. ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ, καὶ ταῦτα πάντα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν. THE HOLY GOSPEL The Gospel According to Matthew 6:22-33 The Lord said, "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear? For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well." FASTING / ΝΗΣΤΕΙΑ As we are in the midst of the Apostle s Fast, we abstain from meat and dairy products on all days, with dispensation for fish on every day except Wednesdays and Fridays, until the feast of Sts. Peter & Paul on June 29th.

6 CARE MINISTRY NAMES In our efforts to establish our visitation ministry, we ask that you let us know if you or someone you know is homebound and would benefit from regular visits from fellow parishioners, as well as our clergy. Please send names and addresses of these people to Fr. Nicholas so we can minister to them as best we are able. GENERAL ASSEMBLY Our General Assembly is today right after Liturgy in the Founder s Court! Please be sure to join us to discuss and make important decisions about our community. DONATIONS Our supplies of olive oil, rose water, and 9-volt batteries are low. If you are able and feel inspired, please bring any donations to the Office during the week, or to Church on Sunday. It truly took a village to host our Grecian Festival. We couldn t have done it without you. In appreciation of all the help we received and tireless hours you committed that made it a success, you are cordially invited to join us for our Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday, June 26th from 7-9pm. After a brief review of the festival results, we will share a meal and fellowship together. This award is given to an outstanding and selfless parishioner in honor of their dedication and generosity towards Christ and the Church. Maria was supported by our clergy, family, and friends in Boston last Sunday as she received this honor from His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios. Congratulations and AXIA!

8 YOUTH MINISTRY CORNER METROPOLIS OF BOSTON CAMP (MBC) Registration is open for MBC Summer 2018!!! Sessions 1-3 still have spots open! Visit the camp website at to register! Olympiacos FC will be holding a soccer camp during Session 2, so please come that week if you are at all interested in soccer. All skill levels are welcome! Our clergy will be at camp for Sessions 2 & 4, so be sure to sign up to go with them if possible! SOLD OUT! KOSMOS PROJECT His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios is pleased to announce the second year of The Kosmos Project: A Journey to Greece, a camping exchange program between the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston and the Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, Greece. Rising Juniors and Seniors in high school will be given the opportunity to experience a two-week long trip to Greece. The first week will allow the campers to experience the summer camping ministry offered by the Metropolis of Neapolis. The second week will be a faith and cultural odyssey throughout the beautiful city of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece. Participant contribution towards tuition is $1,200. Rising Juniors and Seniors in high school must submit their applications by June 5th, Find the application at PROJECT MEXICO In July, Fr. Dimitri will be leading a team of our parishioners to Project Mexico in Tijuana, Mexico to help build a home for a needy family there. Project Mexico is an Orthodox Christian non-profit that partners with the St. Innocent Orphanage to provide a safe and loving environment for orphaned teenage boys. Please keep Fr. Dimitri and the rest of the team in your prayers as they prepare for this mission trip.

9 CLERGY - LAITY CONGRESS The Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress is being held in Boston this year on July 1-5th! It is a great honor for our metropolis to host this event, but it also requires a great amount of love and service. Please consider volunteering your time to help organize this event and make sure it a success Most of the events are reserved only for official delegates of parishes, but the following events are open to the public: Divine Liturgy Sunday July 7:45am at Annunciation Cathedral, Boston Cultural Night, Tuesday July 8:00pm (tickets available for purchase) Grand Banquet, Thursday July 7:00pm (tickets available for purchase) The following is a message from His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios about the theme of this year s Congress: Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, All things are possible because we believe that in Christ we have the strength and resources to meet our current challenges. Our sacred work will never be without challenges. At all levels of our ministry we have at times faced significant obstacles and what seemed to be insurmountable needs. But our faith has remained strong and determined. We have found assurance in the promise as affirmed by the Apostle Paul, my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We can be assured that all things are possible if we believe that through Christ every need we have for the work of ministry and our witness of the Gospel will be filled. We can find strength to move forward boldly, undeterred by the limits of fear or want, to accomplish even greater works. Second, all things are possible because we know that our witness and ministry must continue to grow. Our work throughout our Holy Archdiocese is the most important work we do. It is the work of God. It is our divine calling as Christians to share the Gospel through our lives, to offer worship and service through our parishes, and to reach each and every person in need of His saving grace. This work cannot be limited. It must constantly be moving, changing, adapting, and reaching the unreachable. In addition, we must have perspectives and attitudes that always seek to expand our ministry. New methods and resources with a foundation in the sacred traditions of our Holy Orthodox Church must continue to form a powerful and dynamic witness. Finally, all things are possible because we know the power of faith offers us unlimited potential. The power of faith turns despair into hope. It transforms anger and hatred into love. It is a power the builds determination out of frustration. It is the power that defeats death and gives us life abundantly. It is the power that makes all things possible to the one who believes in Christ. When we meet in Boston for our Clergy-Laity Congress, let us be led by God, inspired by our faith, and emboldened by our potential to accomplish the impossible. Let us come together as brothers and sisters in Christ from throughout our Holy Archdiocese and gather in worship, prayer, and unity in our commitment to our sacred work. Let us address our challenges in the bonds of fellowship and grace, and let us set before us a vision that proclaims that all things are possible to the one who believes in Christ!
