On commuting ordinary differential operators with polynomial coefficients corresponding to spectral curves of genus two Valentina N. Davletshina, Andrey E. Mironov arxiv:1606.0136v1 [math-ph] Jun 2016 Abstract The group of automorphisms of the first Weyl algebra acts on commuting ordinary differential operators with polynomial coefficient. In this paper we prove that for fixed generic spectral curve of genus two the set of orbits is infinite. 1 Introduction and Main Result Let us consider a generic equation fx,y = i,j α ij X i Y j = 0, α ij C. The group AutA 1, where A 1 = C[x][ x ] is the first Weyl algebra, has a natural action on the set of solutions of this equation. Yu. Berest proposed the following conjecture cf. [8]: if the genus of the algebraic curve defined by the equation fz,w = 0 in the theory of commuting ordinary differential operators the curve defined by this equation is called the spectral curve is one then the set of orbits is infinite, and if the genus is greater than one then for generic α ij the set of orbits is finite. From finiteness of this set for some curve it would be possible to derive the Dixmier conjecture EndA 1 = AutA 1 for the first Weyl algebra. In this paper we study the action of the automorphisms group of the first Weyl algebra A 1 = C[x][ x ] on the set of solutions of the equation Y 2 = X 2g+1 +c 2g X 2g +...+c 1 X +c 0 1 at g = 2. It is not difficult to show that any solution X,Y of this equation is a pair of commuting operators. To construct examples of commuting operators from A 1 satisfying 1 is a nontrivial problem. First such examples, for g = 1, were found by Dixmier in [1]. For g > 1 the examples of higher rank commuting ordinary differential operators were constructed, using Krichever Novikov theory see [2], [3], in []: the operator L = 2 x +α 3 x 3 +α 2 x 2 +α 1 x+α 0 2 +gg +1α 3 x commutes with an operator L g+2 A 1 of order g + 2 and L,L g+2 satisfy 1 another examples see in [5] [7]. In [8] the set of orbits was studied in the case of genus one spectral curves, i.e. for g = 1 in 1. It was shown that the set of orbits is infinite for any such curve. Moreover, for arbitrary g > 1 there is a two-parametric family of hyperelliptic spectral curves with infinite set of orbits [8]. More precisely, the operator L = 2 x +α 1coshx+α 0 2 +α 1 gg +1coshx, α 1 0 The authors were supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research grant 16-51-55012. commutes with an operator L g+2 of order g +2 see [9], and the pair L, L g+2 satisfies the equation 2 2g+1 2g L g+2 = L +c 2g L +...+c 1 L +c 0 2 for some constants c i. Mokhov [10] noticed that the change of variables x = lny + y 2 1 r, r = ±1, ±2,..., transforms the operators L, L g+2 variable y, e.g. into the operators with polynomial coefficients in new L = 1 y2 2 y 3y y +at r y+b 2 ar 2 gg +1T r y, a 0. Here T r y is the Chebyshev polynomial of degree r. Recall that T 0 y = 1, T 1 y = y, T r y = 2yT r 1 y T r 2 y, T r y = T r y. This gives a family of operators L, L g+2 A 1 depending on integer r which satisfy 2. It is turn out that for different integers r the pairs L, L g+2 belong to different orbits see [8], so for the equation Y 2 = X 2g+1 +c 2g X2g +...+c 1 X +c 0 the set of orbits is infinite. Themain resultof this paperis thefollowing. We give asimplefamily probably, thesimplest one of commuting operators from A 1, satisfying the equation Y 2 = X 5 +c X +c 3 X 3 +c 2 X 2 +c 1 X +c 0, X,Y A 1, c i C 3 with c i being generic, which belong to different orbits. The proof of the last fact appears to be also extremely simple for this family. Theorem 1. The operator L = α 1 x 2 +1 2 x +α 2 x+α 3 x +α x+α 5 2 +α 1 α gg +1x+α 6 commutes with an operator L 10 given by exact formulae in Appendix at g = 2 for any α i C. The pair L,L 10 is a solution of 3, where c i depend polynomially on α i see exact formulae in Appendix. The set of orbits of the group AutA 1 in the space of solutions of the equation 3 with generic c i is infinite. We also checked that L commutes with L 6 at g = 1 and with L 1 formulate the conjecture: at g = 3. So we can The operator L commutes with an operator of order g +2. The operator L is not self-adjoint hence the methods of [] are not applicable here. It is an interesting problem to prove this conjecture and develop the methods of [] to the non-selfadjoint case. 2 Proof of Theorem 1 The theorem follows from the following observation. Direct calculations show that the operator L = α 1x 2 +1 2 x +α 2x+α 3 x +α x+α 5 2 +α 1 α gg +1x+α 6 commutes with an operator L 10 at g = 2. Operators L,L 10 satisfy 3, where the coefficients c i depend polynomially on α i see exact formulae in Appendix. Thus, we obtain an algebraic morphism C 6 C 5. Direct calculations show that the differential map on tangent spaces at a generic point is surjective, thus our morphism is dominant. Hence, if we fix generic coefficients c j, we obtain 1-parametric family of solutions of 3. Let s show that operators from this family belong to infinitely many different orbits of the group AutA 1. Recall that AutA 1 is generated by the following automorphisms see [1] ϕ 1 x = x+p 1 x, ϕ 1 x = x, ϕ 2 x = x, ϕ 2 x = x +P 2 x, ϕ 3 x = αx+β x, ϕ 3 x = γ x +δx, αγ βδ = 1, α,β,γ,δ C, where P 1,P 2 are arbitrary polynomials with constant coefficients. Let SL denote the total symbol of an operator L A 1 thus, SL is a polynomial in two variables; we assume here that operators are written in a canonical form, say, with coefficients in x ontheleft.let sremindtwosimplepropertiesofthetotalsymbol: SL 1 +L 2 = SL 1 +SL 2 and degsl 1 L 2 = degsl 1 +degsl 2 for any L 1,L 2 A 1. Without loss of generality we can assume that α 1 0, for if α 1 = 0, then the coefficients c i form an algebraic subset of dimension one in C 5 as it follows from the exact formulae in Appendix. Now let ϕ AutA 1. Consider two possibilities: either Sϕx or Sϕ x has degree > 1, or degsϕx = degsϕ x = 1. In the first case, as it obviously follows from the two simple properties of the total symbol and the standard property of the polynomial degree: a contradiction. In the second case degsϕl = degsϕx+degsϕ x > 8 = degsl, ϕx = αx+β x +C 1, ϕ x = γ x +δx+c 2, where αγ βδ = 1, α,β,γ,δ,c 1,C 2 C, and an easy direct calculation shows that such an automorphism preserves the form of the operator L only if C 1 = C 2 = β = δ = 0, α = γ = 1. Thus, the operators L belong to different orbits for different values of parameters. 3 Appendix The operator L = α 1 x 2 +1 2 x +α 2 x+α 3 x +α x+α 5 2 +α 1 α gg +1x+α 6 commutes with an operator L 10 = P 5 + 5 2 α 16xα +α 2 +2α 5 +3α 2 1 5α2 2 P 3 +5α 1 α x 2 α 1 +1P 2 + 3
