ΕΝΗΜΕΡΩΤΙΚΟ ΕΛΤΙΟ ΓΡΑΦΕΙΟΥ ΣΤΑ ΙΟ ΡΟΜΙΑΣ 9 University of Warwick: 1st 21st July 2012 The University of Warwick s inaugural International Summer School is an exciting opportunity for undergraduates to spend three weeks in a rigorous programme of academic study on campus at a world class university combined with a varied social programme designed to help students explore the great diversity of British culture and heritage. The Summer School is aimed at current undergraduates, preferably in their second year of study, with a strong academic background, currently working at the standard equivalent to an upper second class UK degree (2:1) or a GPA of 3.3. The International Summer School will offer two accredited courses, each a unique programme taught in a prestigious department, with guest lecturers and innovative teaching methods: Creative Writing Across Genres Join the Summer School for an intense, three-week residential writing course supported by Warwick's Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning. Each week students will be introduced to practical techniques for writing in a particular genre: prose, poetry and screen & radio. Our tutors are all professional, practicing writers, with experience of working in the creative industries. They will lead a series of workshops, master classes and one to one tutorials over the module. Students will also have a chance to participate in guest sessions with some of the Warwick Writing Programme's internationally renowned authors, including Professor David Morley, AL Kennedy and Peter Blegvad. Global Integrative Business Project Warwick Business School will run a three week (intensive) course where participants will develop business skills with hands-on practice in analysing the macro-environment of international business. Students will increase their knowledge of business sources as they develop a strong awareness of different national cultures and sensitivity towards working in different cultural environments. The course will develop career skills such as teamwork, communication and the confidence to present ideas in a multi-national group setting. The environment in which these skills will be learnt and the intensive nature of the study means that these competencies will be easily transferable into the students future fields of work or study. The International Summer School will enable participants to explore key themes and develop their own skills in a stimulating environment provided by one of the UK s leading, research intensive, universities.

The varied social programme will enable students to discover the heart of England including the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon, birthplace of Shakespeare, the city of Oxford, and of course, London, which will be buzzing with excitement in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. Participants completing the Summer School will receive a University of Warwick transcript and a Certificate of Attendance.
