The results showed that the spore germ ination was of the V ittaria2type while the gametophyte de2 velopment was of the Ceratop teris2type. The m axim um germ ination rate was obtained in 1 /2M S m edium, which reached 8213% ; the medium w ith sucrose concentration being less than 2% was app rop riate for spore germ ination; the highest rate of gametophyte to sporophyte was achieved in M S medium, which reached 5314% ; the transp lant survival rate of sporophyte in vitro reached above 80%. The m ixed soil ( the turf and the sand blend in the volume ratio of 1 to 1) was the op timal growing medium for spore routine p ropagation, in which the rate of gametophyte to the sporophyte was up to 8912%. W hen the first cotyledon of the sporophyte seedling grew to 1-2 cm, the sporophyte seedlings should be rep lanted in the grow ing m edium which was composed of turf, verm iculite, sand and organic fertilizers. The highest survival rate reached 9811%. The young gam etophyte seedlings of 10 cm height had already possessed ornamental values.
