Stavros A. Kotsopoulos was born in Argos-Argolidos (Greece) in the year 1952. He received his B.Sc. in Physics in the year 1975 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki., and in the year 1984 got his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras. He did his postgraduate studies in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Bradford in United Kingdom, and he is an M.Phil [Master of Philosophy in Digital Communications] and Ph.D [Doctor of Philosophy in Information Systems Engineering] holder since 1978 and 1985 correspondingly. He is a member of the academic staff of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras and holds the position of Professor. Since 2004, is the Director of the Wireless Telecommunications Laboratory (WTL) and develops his professional life teaching and doing research in the scientific area of Wireless Telecommunications, with interest in cellular mobile communications, Wireless Networks, interference, satellite communications, telematics applications, communication services and antennae design. He teaches the courses Radio Wave Propagation, Antennae Theory, Architectures and Protocols of Networks and Mobile Communication Systems for the 4 rth and 5 th year students. Within the framework of his teaching interests, Professor Kotsopoulos is a consulting Professor of the Hellenic Open University in the School of Science and Technology offering his teaching experience on the undergraduate course in Computer Science. Moreover he is the (co)author of the following books: Title: "mobile telephony", Papasotiriou Publisher, ISBN: 960-7510-43-7 and Title: Handbook of Research in Heterogeneous Next Generation Networking: Innovations & Platforms, Information Science Reference, ISBN: 978-1-60566-108-7 Prof. Kotsopoulos is a co-author of the special issue editorial, titled Multimedia Applications and Services over emerging Wireless Technologies in the Journal Advances in Multimedia (Hindawi Publishing Corporation). Moreover, he is guest editor of the Journal IEEE Communications Letters. He has offered consultant services to various Telecom Organizations and Bodies in Greece and he is member of various Technical Committees. The research activity is documented by more than 400 publications in scientific journals and proceedings of International Conferences. Professor Kotsopoulos directs a research team of 15 postgraduate students and has been the leader of several international and many national research projects.
