ΑΡΧΙΕΠΙΣΚΟΠΗ ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ ΚΥΠΡΟΥ YAS 22 / 2020 Μύνημα Αρχιεπισκόπου Μαρωνιτών Ιωσήφ Σουέηφ για την εξάπλωση του Κορωνοϊού Αγαπητοί Ιερείς, Αγαπητά εν Χριστώ Αδέλφια, Η ειρήνη του Κυρίου μαζί με όλους σας. Σε αυτή την κρίσιμη περίοδο που η χώρα μας και όλος ο κόσμος βρίσκονται αντιμέτωποι με την απειλή του μολυσματικού κορωνοϊού COVID-19, καλούμαστε όλοι μαζί να προσευχηθούμε με πίστη, γιατί η προσευχή έχει την θεϊκή δύναμη να μας θεραπεύσει και να φωτίσει την καρδιά, την ψύχη και τον νου και μας και μαζί με την δύναμη της αγάπης, να ξεπεράσουμε κάθε πρόβλημα. Καλούμαστε σαν άτομα και κοινότητα να ενωθούμε στην προσευχή ο ένας για τον άλλο, παιδιά, νέοι και οικογένειες. Στις δεήσεις μας θυμόμαστε όλα τα θύματα του νέου αυτού ιού και παρακαλούμε τον Παντοδύναμο ίνα θεραπεύσει όλους όσους νοσούν και υποφέρουν. Προσευχόμαστε για όλους όσους εργάζονται στον τομέα της υγείας, ιατρούς, νοσηλευτές και παραϊατρικό προσωπικό και για όσους αγωνίζονται στον τομέα της έρευνας για ένα θετικό αποτέλεσμα στην καταπολέμηση αυτής της μάστιγας. Καλούμε τους πιστούς να τηρούνται ενήμεροι και να αντιμετωπίζουν την κρίση με προσευχή παραδιδόμενοι στην χάρη του Θεού και με δέουσα προσοχή, σύνεση και συλλογική υπευθυνότητα να βοηθήσουν στην αποτροπή της εξάπλωσης της επιδημίας. Ο Ιησούς μας λέει «να έχετε την σύνεση που έχουν τα φίδια και την ακεραιότητα που έχουν τα περιστέρια» (Μτ 10/16) Αν και η κατάσταση είναι σοβαρή, και το άγχος και ο φόβος μας περιβάλλουν, δεν πρέπει να υποκύψουμε στο πανικό, αλλά να παραμείνουμε ψύχραιμοι και υπομονετικοί. Αναλαμβάνοντας την ευθύνη μας έναντι των πιστών, ως Εκκλησία καλούμε όλους να συνεργάζονται και να συμμορφώνονται πλήρως με τις οδηγίες και υποδείξεις των Αρχών της Πολιτείας και των Διεθνών Αρχών Υγείας. Με γνώμονα την προστασία της υγείας και ασφάλειας όλων, θα τηρήσουμε την μη υπέρβαση των 75 ατόμων στις συνάξεις λατρείας και ακολουθίας μας. Η κρίση αυτή είναι μια έκκληση προς τον καθένα μας να επανεξετάσουμε την ανάγκη για ανθρώπινη αλληλεγγύη και να αισθανθούμε και πάλι ότι είμαστε μια μόνη «Ανθρώπινη Οικογένεια» καλεσμένη να στηρίξει ο ένας τον άλλον σε τέτοιες δύσκολες στιγμές.
Είναι ώρα να επανεξετάσουμε την ποιότητα του τρόπου ζωής, επιστρέφοντας στην ουσία που βασίζεται στην αγάπη και την αλληλεγγύη, την συγχώρεση και την ειρήνη, ζώντας σε αδελφοσύνη, βοηθώντας ο ένας τον άλλον, μακριά από τη αμαρτία του εγωισμού και της περηφάνειας που καταστρέφει την ανθρωπότητα, άτομα και κοινότητα. Τώρα είναι η στιγμή να ανανεώσουμε την προσωπική μας σχέση με τον Θεό. Αγαπητά μου Αδέλφια, Σε επίπεδο Εκκλησιαστικών προληπτικών μέτρων και ακολουθώντας τις οδηγίες της Ιεράς Μαρωνιτικής Συνόδου που έλαβε χώρα στις 4 Μαρτίου, 2020 παρακαλούνται οι ιερείς και οι πιστοί να τηρούν τα ακόλουθα κατά την Θεία Λειτουργία: 1. Τελετή της Ειρήνης: προ τρέπονται οι πιστοί να μην ανταλλάζουν χειραψία και να έχουν φυσική επαφή αλλά να τοποθετούν το χέρι στην καρδιά κοιτάζοντας προς τον άλλο λέγοντας «Ειρήνη του Κυρίου» 2. Θεία Κοινωνία: Το Σώμα του Χριστού- ο Καθαγιασμένος Άρτος- να δίνεται στο χέρι. Προσερχόμενοι στην Θεία Κοινωνία οι πιστοί θα βάζουν το ένα χέρι ακριβώς κάτω από το άλλο σε σχήμα σταυρού, και σύμφωνα με τους Πατέρες της Εκκλησίας, η πνευματική ερμηνεία είναι η εξής: τα χέρια γίνονται ο θρόνος του Σώματος του Χριστού, του Βασιλεύ των Βασιλέων του Κυρίου Ημών Ιησού Χριστού. Είναι μια πολύ αρχαία συριακή Μαρωνιτική παράδοση όπως φαίνεται καθαρά στο ύμνο που έπεται της Θείας Κοινωνίας: «τα μάτια μου που άγγιξε Αυτός, θα δουν τον έλεος Σου» 3. Αγιασμός στην είσοδο: Προς τον παρόν ο αγιασμός να αφαιρεθεί από την είσοδο του ναού. Με υψηλό αίσθημα ποιμαντικής ευθύνης σας προτρέπω για τα ακόλουθα: 4. Όλες οι ενορίες να αποφεύγουν συναθροίσεις και ν αναβάλουν κάθε είδος κοινωνικό ποιμαντικών εκδηλώσεων 5. Οι Εκκλησίες μας θα παραμείνουν ανοικτές για τις Λειτουργικές Τελετές και οι ιερείς θα λαμβάνουν υπόψη το επιτρεπόμενο όριο συμμετοχής. Τα παράθυρα να παραμένουν ανοικτά για ορθό εξαερισμό. 6. Στην είσοδο της Εκκλησίας θα τοποθετηθούν αντισηπτικά υγρά για καθαρισμό των χεριών και είναι σημαντικό τα βιβλία της λειτουργίας και οι πάγκοι να παραμένουν απολυμασμένοι. 7. Το σημαντικότερο είναι η τήρηση των βασικών κανόνων προσωπικής υγιεινής και της πρέπουσας απόστασης βάση συμμόρφωσης και υπόδειξης από τις αρμόδιες αρχές.
Αγαπητοί μου, Ικετεύουμε τον Κύριο να μας ευλογήσει αγγίζοντας το σώμα, το νου και την ψυχή μας με το Θεϊκό του χέρι που δημιούργησε και ανανέωσε το σύμπαν. Με αυτό που θεραπεύει τις ανθρώπινες πληγές κραυγάζοντας με τον λεπρό: Εάν θέλεις έχεις την δύναμη να με καθαρίσεις». (Μκ1,40) Ικετεύουμε την Αειπάρθενο Μαρία Θεοτόκο και Μητέρα της Εκκλησίας, των φτωχών και ασθενών, ίνα δια της μεσιτείας της και των προσευχών όλων των Αγίων, να φτάσουμε στο λιμάνι της σωτηρίας. Σας καλώ αγαπητοί ιερείς και πιστοί, σε κοινωνία με τον Πάπα Φραγκίσκο και τον Πατριάρχη μας Bechara Boutros Rai και όλη την Εκκλησία, να καθιερώσετε ελεύθερα μια ημέρα προσευχής και νηστείας κατά αυτήν την περίοδο της Μεγάλης Σαρακοστής, ώστε η παγκόσμια πανδημία να παρέλθει γρήγορα με τις λιγότερες δυνατόν απώλειες. Παραδινόμαστε πλήρως στην χάρη του Θεού θέτοντας την ζωή και το είναι μας στα χέρια Του. Αυτός είναι ο Σωτήρας, ο Φύλακας και ο Θεραπευτής μας. Αναπέμπουμε ύμνον, δόξα και τιμή στην Αγιότατη Τρίαδα τον Πάτερα, Υιό και Άγιο Πνεύμα τώρα και πάντοτε στους αιώνες των αιώνων. Youssef Soueif in the crisis period of the Novel Coronavirus - Covid19 My beloved Priests Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ The Peace of Jesus Christ be with you, In this very critical and difficult period, when our country and the whole world are facing up to the threat of the novel Coronavirus- Covid19, we are called all together to pray with faith, for prayer has the Divine power of healing and enlightening our hearts, souls and minds and that, together with the power of love, overcomes any kind of troubles. We are all invited, individuals and communities alike, to be united in praying for one another, children, adults and families. We remember in our intensions all the victims who passed away due to this virus, and in raising our plea for all the sick and afflicted so that God will grant them the grace of His healing. We pray also for all the caregivers, the doctors and the nurses that are so important in meeting this challenge before us, and for the successful endeavour of researchers and all others working hard to find the appropriate medical solutions that can stop the spread of the virus. We invite the people to be more aware about the crisis and to face it with prayer, faith and surrender to the grace of God, but also with caution, wisdom and collective responsibility, so as to help limit the spread of this epidemic virus. Jesus teaches us: be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves (Mathew 10/16). Anxiety and fear surround us but despite the seriousness of the situation, we must stay vigilant and also prudent, patient and we must not succumb to panic. Accepting our responsibility as a Church to protect our people, I invite all of you to cooperate with authorities and respect all the directives and guidance given for our safety, and I urge all believers to comply with both the World Health Organization's guidelines and the recommendations and laws issued by our government, particularly those regarding the ban of mass events and gatherings exceeding 75 persons.
We can clearly see that this crisis is a call to each one of us to reconsider the need for human solidarity, to feel again that we are one "Human Family" invited to support each other especially in such difficult moments. We may re-think about the quality of the way of our lives, going back to its essence built on love and solidarity, forgiveness and peace, living in brotherhood and helping each other far from the sin of egoism, selfishness and pride that destroy our humanity - individuals and community. It s the Momentum to renew our personal relationship with God. Dear brethren, On the level of Ecclesiastical measures and following instructions of the Holy Maronite Synod held on Wednesday 4 March 2020, our priests and faithful are requested to adhere the following during the Holy Mass: 1. Rite of Peace: It is recommended to avoid handshakes and physical contact between the faithful during the exchange of the Sign of Peace, and to replace it with putting a hand on the heart, nodding to the other person and saying "Peace of Christ". 2. Holy Communion: Only the Body of Christ is given by hand: Upon approaching Holy Communion, the faithful will put one hand directly under the other hand in a Cross Shape ( ), and the spiritual meaning of this gesture explained by the Fathers of the Church, is the following: the hands become the Throne of the Body of Christ, King of kings, Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a very old Syriac Maronite tradition, that we see clearly in the hymn following the Holy Communion: And my eyes that were touched by Him, would see your mercy. The priest will place the Body of Christ on the uppermost hand of the faithful. The faithful, while still standing in their place, will use the other hand to respectfully receive the Lord in their mouth. 3. The blessed water at the entrance of the Church should be removed, for the moment. With a deep sense of the pastoral responsibility I urge you the following: 4. All the Parishes should avoid gatherings and postpone all kinds of socio-pastoral celebrations and events. 5. Our Churches will remain open for the Liturgical Celebrations, taking into consideration the limit on the number of people who will be present at the same time. Every Parish Priest will arrange it accordingly. Church windows must be open for air to be renewed. 6. At the entrance of the Church, sanitizers will be provided and all faithful are requested to use them for hand-cleaning, and it s very necessary that the liturgical books and the benches stay sanitized. 7. The most important attitude as individuals and families is the self-control, the social distances avoiding gatherings and people contact and the high measures of hygiene.
My beloved, We ask the Lord to bless us and touch our bodies, souls, minds and families with His Divine hand that created and renewed the Universe; His hand that heals all human wounds crying with the Leper: If you are willing, you can make me clean. (Mark 1/40) We ask the Virgin Mary, the Theotokos and Mother of the Church, of the poor and sick that through her Intercession and the prayers of all the Saints, we reach the port of salvation. I call upon you, my priests and beloved faithful, and in communion with Pope Francis and with our Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rai and the whole Church to consider a day of prayer and fasting, freely chosen by each one of you, in this Period of Lent, on the intention of this crisis to be quickly overcame with the least possible loss. We surrender ourselves to God and put our lives in His Hands. He is our saviour, custodian and healer. We glorify the Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit now and for ever, Amen.
