ΧΡΗΜΑΤΙΣΤΗΡΙΑΚΗ ΑΝΑΣΚΟΠΗΣΗ ΓΙΑ ΤΟ ΦΕΒΡΟΥΑΡΙΟ 2003 Tο Φεβρουάριο παρατηρήθηκε σχετική πτώση του Γενικού είκτη Τιµών που συνοδεύτηκε µε άνοδο στον όγκο συναλλαγών σε σχέση µε το µήνα Ιανουάριο. Οι εξελίξεις για τον µήνα αυτό αναλύονται πιο κάτω: Τιµές: Την τελευταία µέρα του µήνα ο Γενικός είκτης Τιµών (ΧΑΚ) ανήλθε στις 87,27 µονάδες, ενώ το ανώτατο σηµείο στο οποίο έφτασε ο είκτης καθ όλη τη διάρκεια του µήνα ήταν 91,58 µονάδες. Σε κλαδικό επίπεδο, οι είκτες για το µήνα αυτό έκλεισαν ως εξής: ο τοµέας των Τραπεζών µε 96,05 µονάδες, ο τοµέας των Εγκεκριµένων Επενδυτικών Εταιρειών µε 76,32 µονάδες, ο τοµέας των Ασφαλιστικών εταιρειών µε 18,39 µονάδες, ο Βιοµηχανικός τοµέας µε 60,69 µονάδες, ο Τουριστικός τοµέας µε 95,34 µονάδες, ο Εµπορικός τοµέας µε 18,64 µονάδες, ο τοµέας Οικοδοµήσιµων Υλών µε 73,62 µονάδες, ο τοµέας Πληροφορικής µε 3,07 µονάδες, ο τοµέας Χρηµατοοικονοµικών Υπηρεσιών µε 16,85 µονάδες, ο τοµέας Ιχθυοπαραγωγής & Εµπορίας Ψαριών µε 11,87 µονάδες, ο τοµέας των Ξενοδοχείων µε 44,85 µονάδες και ο τοµέας των Άλλων Εταιρειών µε 81,75 µονάδες. Η χρηµατιστηριακή αξία της αγοράς (µετοχές εξαιρουµένων των Επενδυτικών οργανισµών) ανήλθε σε 2.3δις. από 2.4δις. του προηγούµενου µήνα σηµειώνοντας µείωση της τάξης του 4,08%. Με βάση τα στοιχεία του µήνα ο Τραπεζικός τοµέας αποτελεί το 44,35% της συνολικής χρηµατιστηριακής αξίας (µετοχές), και ο τοµέας των Άλλων Εταιρειών 14,27%. Επίσης, ο τοµέας των Βιοµηχανικών Εταιρειών κατέχει ποσοστό 9,92% της ολικής χρηµατιστηριακής αξίας, ο τοµέας των Ξενοδοχείων το 8,83%, ο τοµέας Οικοδοµήσιµων Υλών το 8,09%, ο τοµέας Χρηµατοοικονοµικών Υπηρεσιών µε 5,18%, ο τοµέας Εµπορικών Εταιρειών µε 4,40%, ο τοµέας Τουριστικών Εταιρειών µε 2,80%, ο τοµέας Πληροφορικής µε 1,14%, ο τοµέας Ασφαλιστικών Οργανισµών µε 0,67% και ο τοµέας Ιχθυοπαραγωγής & Εµπορίας Ψαριών µε 0,33%. Επιπρόσθετα η χρηµατιστηριακή αξία της αγοράς συµπεριλαµβανοµένων των Επενδυτικών Οργανισµών, των ικαιωµάτων αγοράς µετοχών, των Οµολογιακών αξιών και των Κυβερνητικών χρεογράφων έφθασε στα 4.29 δις. από 4.22 δις. του προηγούµενου µήνα, σηµειώνοντας αύξηση της τάξης του 1,52%. Συναλλαγές: Ο συνολικός όγκος συναλλαγών του µήνα έφθασε περίπου στα 14,9 εκ. µε το µέσο ηµερήσιο όγκο συναλλαγών να βρίσκεται στις 746 χιλιάδες. Το µεγαλύτερο µέρος του συνολικού όγκου συναλλαγών του µήνα που πέρασε, συγκεντρώθηκε στον τοµέα των Τραπεζών µε ποσοστό 38,30% και το µικρότερο στον τοµέα Εταιρικών Χρεογράφων µε ποσοστό 0,21%. Οι τίτλοι στους οποίους επικεντρώθηκε το µεγαλύτερο ποσοστό του µηνιαίου όγκου συναλλαγών ήταν στις µετοχές της «Τράπεζας Κύπρου Λτδ» και της «Λαϊκής Τράπεζας Λτδ», µε ποσοστό 21,73% και 13,12% αντίστοιχα. Νέα Εισηγµένων Εταιρειών / Αποφάσεις Συµβουλίου για Εισηγµένες Εταιρείες Στις 3 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση Κρατικών Ονοµαστικών Χρεογράφων Αναπτύξεως, 1 η τµηµατική έκδοση, 2 ης σειράς 2-ετών Χρεογράφων (4,25%, 2005) συνολικής αξίας 40.000.000 που προέκυψαν από δηµοπρασία η οποία διεξήχθη στις 13 Ιανουαρίου 2003. Από τις 3 µέχρι τις 21 Φεβρουαρίου αναστάληκε η διαπραγµάτευση των τίτλων των εισηγµένων εκδοτών «PHC Franchised Restaurants Ltd», «New Marathon Tours Ltd», «C.A.C. Papantoniou Ltd», «Apollo Investment Fund Ltd», «Aqua Sol Hotels Ltd», «Ceilfloor Ltd», «A. Tsokkos Hotels Ltd» και «Φιλοκτηµατική Λτδ» λόγω της ανάληψης των µητρώων και της µετάβασης τους στο νέο σύστηµα. Στις 5 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση 8.748 συνήθων µετοχών ΧΑΚ CSE 3

της εταιρείας «Τράπεζα Κύπρου Λτδ» οι οποίες προέκυψαν από την µετατροπή 10.936 Μετατρέψιµων Χρεογράφων, 6.75%, λήξης 2003 της πιο πάνω εταιρείας. Στις 6 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση Κρατικών Ονοµαστικών Χρεογράφων Αναπτύξεως, 2 η Τµηµατική έκδοση, 1 ης σειράς 5-ετών Χρεογράφων (4,75%, 2008) συνολικής αξίας 40.000.000 που προέκυψαν από δηµοπρασία η οποία διεξήχθη στις 13 Ιανουαρίου 2003. Στις 6 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση Γραµµατίων του ηµοσίου, 52 εβδοµάδων (13/01/2003-12/01/2004) συνολικής αξίας 40.000.000 που προέκυψαν από δηµοπρασία η οποία διεξήχθη στις 13 Ιανουαρίου 2003. Στις 13 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση Κρατικών Ονοµαστικών Χρεογράφων Αναπτύξεως, 1 η Τµηµατική έκδοση, 3 ης σειράς 2-ετών Χρεογράφων (4,25%, 2005) συνολικής αξίας 15.013.200 που προέκυψαν από δηµοπρασία η οποία διεξήχθη στις 28 Ιανουαρίου 2003. Στις 14 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση 178.606 µετοχών ονοµαστικής αξίας 0.25 της εταιρείας Efremico Holdings Ltd οι οποίες προέκυψαν από την άσκηση των ικαιωµάτων Αγοράς Μετοχών της εταιρείας. Στις 14 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση µίας συνήθης µετοχής της εταιρείας «Glory Worldwide Holdings Ltd» η οποία προέκυψε από εξάσκηση ενός ικαιώµατος Αγοράς Μετοχών της εταιρείας. Στις 14 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση 636,714 συνήθων µετοχών της εταιρείας «Lanitis Development Ltd» οι οποίες προέκυψαν από εξάσκηση ικαιωµάτων Επιλογής που παραχωρήθηκαν στο προσωπικό της εταιρείας σύµφωνα µε το Σχέδιο Παροχής Μετοχικών ικαιωµάτων Επιλογής. Στις 20 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση 52.400 ικαιωµάτων Αγοράς Μετοχών της εταιρείας «Severis & Athienitis Financial Services Ltd», τα οποία παραχωρήθηκαν προς τους τρεις τελευταίους µετόχους της SAFS Corporate Finance & Investments Ltd ως µερικό αντάλλαγµα για την απόκτηση του υπόλοιπου 3.64% του µετοχικού κεφαλαίου της SAFS Corporate Finance Investments Ltd. Στις 27 Φεβρουαρίου άρχισε η διαπραγµάτευση 5 συνήθων µετοχών της εταιρείας «F.W.Woolworth & Co (Cyprus) Ltd» που προέκυψαν από την εξάσκηση των ικαιωµάτων Αγοράς Μετοχών της εταιρείας. Από τις 28 Φεβρουαρίου 2003 µέχρι τις 21 Μαρτίου 2003 αναστάληκε η διαπραγµάτευση των τίτλων των εισηγµένων εκδοτών: «F.W. Woolworth & Co (Cyprus) Ltd», «ΕΞΕΛΙΞΗ Επενδυτική Λτδ», «Φάρµα Ρένος Χατζηιωάννου Λτδ», «ΚΕΟ Λτδ», «Αίαντας Επενδυτική Λτδ» και «Aristo Developers Ltd» λόγω της ανάληψης των µητρώων και της µετάβασης τους στο νέο σύστηµα. Αποφάσεις Συµβουλίου για Μέλη Στις 20 Φεβρουαρίου η εταιρεία «Εθνική Χρηµατιστηριακή Κύπρου Λτδ» διαγράφηκε και ταυτόχρονα εγκρίθηκε η αίτηση της «Εθνικής Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος (Κύπρου) Λτδ» ως Μέλους του ΧΑΚ. Το µέλος άρχισε τις εργασίες του από τις 20 Φεβρουαρίου 2003. Εξελίξεις ραστηριότητες ΧΑΚ Στις 7 Φεβρουαρίου το Συµβούλιο επιβεβαίωσε το αναπτυξιακό του πρόγραµµα για το 2003. Μέσα στα πλαίσια του προγράµµατος αυτού και ειδικότερα για ενηµέρωση των εµπλεκόµενων φορέων στη χρηµατιστηριακή αγορά αποφασίστηκε όπως πραγµατοποιηθούν σεµινάρια για τον Κώδικα Εταιρικής ιακυβέρνησης. Τα σεµινάρια αυτά θα απευθύνονται κατ' αρχήν στις εισηγµένες εταιρείες και θα διεξαχθούν εντός των επόµενων δύο µηνών. Στις 7 Φεβρουαρίου το Συµβούλιο ανακοίνωσε ότι η αξιολόγηση που έγινε από την Ευρωπαϊκή Κεντρική Τράπεζα για τα συστήµατα πληρωµών και εκκαθάρισης στην Κύπρο, χαρακτήρισε ως ένα πολύ προηγµένο σύστηµα το Κεντρικό Μητρώο ΧΑΚ CSE 4

και ειδικότερα το σύστηµα Εκκαθάρισης και Χρηµατικού ιακανονισµού του ΧΑΚ. Στις 10 Φεβρουαρίου πραγµατοποιήθηκε στα γραφεία του ΧΑΚ συνάντηση αξιωµατούχων των Χρηµατιστηρίων Αθηνών, Τελ-Αβίβ, Κύπρου και του Οργανισµού FTSE, µε αντικείµενο την ολοκλήρωση των διαδικασιών και κατάληξη σε συµφωνία για την ετοιµασία ενός κοινού δείκτη µετοχών, του Μεσογειακού είκτη FTSE Mediterranean 100 Index, µέσα στα πλαίσια της ευρύτερης συνεργασίας τους. Ο είκτης FTSE-Med 100 Index θα αποτελείται από 100 εισηγµένες αξίες στα τρία Χρηµατιστήρια, µερικές εκ των οποίων είναι επίσης εισηγµένες σε Χρηµατιστήρια των Ηνωµένων Πολιτειών της Αµερικής ή της Ευρώπης. Η τελική σύνθεση του είκτη και η δοµή του µαζί µε τις εταιρείες που αρχικά θα τον αποτελούν, θα οριστικοποιηθούν τον Απρίλιο του 2003 από τους FTSE. Τα τρία πιο πάνω Χρηµατιστήρια πρόκειται να καλέσουν κι άλλα Μεσογειακά Χρηµατιστήρια για να συµµετάσχουν, εάν επιθυµούν στο είκτη αυτό. ΧΑΚ CSE 5

REVIEW OF DEVELOPMENTS IN FEBRUARY 2003 uring February there was a decrease in Dthe General Price Index and a particular increase in the value of shares traded compared to January. The various figures and statistics are analysed below: Prices: On the last day of the month the General Price Index was 87,27 points. It is worth to mention, however, that the highest level the index reached for the month was 91,58 points. On a sectoral level, subindices reached the following points: Banking sector 96,05, Approval Investment companies sector 76,32, and Insurance companies sector 18,39, Manufacturing sector 60,69, Tourism sector 95,34, Trading sector 18,64 Building Materials and Construction sector 73,62 Information Technology 3,07, Financial Services 16,85, Fish Culture 11,87, Hotels with 44,85 and finally the Other Companies sector with 81,75 points. Market Capitalisation: The total market capitalisation (shares) reached 2.3 billion from 2.4 billion the previous month registering a decrease of 4,08%. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 44,35% of the total market capitalisation, the Other Companies sector with 14,27%, the Manufacturing sector with 9,92%, the Hotels sector with 8,83%, the Building and Materials and Construction sector with 8,09%, the Financial Services sector with 5,18%, the Trading sector with 4,40%, the Tourism sector with 2,80%. The Information Technology sector with 1,14%, the Insurance sector with 0,67%, and finally the Fish Culture sector with 0,33% respectively, of the total market capitalisation. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Approved Investment Funds, the Warrants the Corporate and Government bonds reached 4.29 billion compared to 4.22 billion the previous month registering an increase of 1,52%. Transactions: The total value of transactions during the month in review reached 14,9 million with an average of 746 thousand per trading session. The Banks Sector contributed 38,30% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Corporate Bonds sector had the lowest contribution with 0.21%. Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of Bank of Cyprus Ltd and Cyprus Popular Bank Ltd with 21,73% and 13,12% respectively. Listed Companies News / Council s decisions about listed Companies On the 3 rd of February 2-year Government Bonds, 1 st issued, 2 nd series (4.25%, 2005) equaling of 40.000.000 derived from an auction on January 13 th, 2003, started trading. From the 3 rd until the 21 st of February the CSE Council decided, pursuant to Regulation 6, to suspend trading of the titles of PHC Franchised Restaurants Ltd", "New Marathon Tours Ltd", "C.A.C. Papantoniou Ltd", "Apollo Investment Fund Ltd", "Aqua Sol Hotels Ltd", "Ceilfloor Ltd", "A. Tsokkos Hotels Ltd" and "Filoktimatiki Ltd", due to the transition of the above companies to the Central Register and Central Depository. On the 5 th of February 8.748 ordinary shares of the company Bank of Cyprus Ltd (which have resulted from the conversion of 10.936 6.75% Convertible Bonds 2003), started trading. On the 6 th of February 5-year Government Bonds 2 nd issued, 1 st series, (4.75%, 2008) equaling of 40.000.000, derived from an auction on January 13 th, 2003, started trading. On the 6 th of February 52-week Treasury Bills (13/01/2003-12/01/2004) equaling of 40.000.000 derived from an auction on January 13 th 2003, started trading. On the 13 th of February 2-year Government Bond, 1 st issue, 3 rd series (4.25%, 2005) equaling of 15.013.200 derived from an ΧΑΚ CSE 6

auction on January 28 th, 2003, started trading. On the 14 th of February 178.606 shares with a nominal value of 0.25 of the company Efremico Holdings Ltd (derived from the exercise of warrants), started trading. On the 14 th of February 1 ordinary share of the company Glory Worldwide Holdings Ltd (derived from the exercise of warrants), started trading. On the 14 th of February 636,714 ordinary shares of the company Lanitis Development Ltd (shares derived from the exercise of staff share options), started trading. On the 20 th of February 52,400 warrants of the company Severis & Athienitis Financial Services Ltd, which were granted to the three remaining shareholders of SAFS Corporate Finance & Investments Ltd in part consideration for the acquisition of 3.64% of the share capital of SAFS Corporate Finance Investments, started trading. On the 27 th of February 5 ordinary shares of the company "F.W.Woolworth & Co (Cyprus) Ltd", derived from the exercise of warrants, started trading. From the 28 th of February until the 24 th of March the titles of the following companies: "F.W.Woolworth & Co (Cyprus) Ltd", "Exelixis Investments Ltd", "Farma Renos Hadjiioannou Ltd", "KEO Ltd", "Aiantas Investments Ltd" and "Aristo Developers Ltd" suspended trading in order to facilitate the process and ensure that the takeover of the share registers. Council Decisions about Members On the 20 th of February the CSE Council approved the inclusion of the brokerage/investment services currently provided by Ethniki Chrimatistiriaki Kyprou under National Bank of Greece (Cyprus) Ltd, and approved the latter's application to become a CSE member. The National Bank of Greece (Cyprus) Ltd started its operations as a CSE member on the 20 th of February 2003. CSE Events The Council of the CSE has decided to organise seminars about the corporate governance code. The seminars will be addressed to listed companies and will take place over the next two months. On the 7 th of February CSE Council was informed that through evaluating the clearing and settlement systems in Cyprus, the Central Share Registry, in particular the settlement and clearing systems of the CSE have been characterised by the European Central Bank (ECB) as state of the art system. On the 10 th of February a meeting between representatives of the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) and the FTSE International was organised at the CSE premises, with the aim of completing preparations and reaching an agreement on launching of a new joint index, the FTSE Mediterranean 100 Index, as part of a closer cooperation between the parties. The FTSE-Med 100 Index will include 100 listed companies from the three Stock Exchanges, some of which are listed on Stock Exchanges other than the Exchange of the country of origin, in the USA and Europe. The final composition of the index and the constituent companies will be decided in April 2003 by the FTSE Group, which will apply the standard rules for selecting companies for FTSE indices. The three stock exchanges plan to invite other regional stock exchanges to join the index. ΧΑΚ CSE 7
