Greek Orthodox Carnival The annual Orthodox Carnival began today! This year it is hosted by Saints Anargyri Greek Orthodox College in Melbourne. We wish our students and staff a safe trip and good luck as they travel to Melbourne to compete in various sports, such as soccer, basketball and netball. The competitions will continue all week till Friday, 4 May. Annual School Ball St. Euphemia College invites all families and friends of the school to attend its major fundraising event of the year, the School Ball. It is a wonderful opportunity for the school community to socialize and enjoy an evening of fine food and dancing. Join the distinguished guests and members of the School Board for an evening of merriment and Greek dancing. The ball will be held at Emporium Function Centre on Saturday, 16 June 2007 and tickets will be available for purchase from the school office. SNAP TEST Year 7 will be sitting for the SNAP test on Tuesday, 8 May. Church Attendance Years 7-9 Sunday, 13 May at 9:45 School Photos School photos will be taken on Wednesday, 9 May 2007. All students are expected to wear their full winter uniform. It is compulsory for all students to wear their blazers and ties and to look neat and well groomed. Cross Country Carnival Open Night The high school Open Night will be held on Wednesday, 16 May at 7.00 pm. All families are welcome to attend and experience the diverse academic and co curricular opportunities the school offers to all students. Tours of the school will be conducted and parents can view the new State of the Arts computer laboratories! The high school Cross Country Carnival will take place on Thursday, 10 May at Lake Gillawarna, Georges Hall. Attendance is compulsory for all students. The carnival will be a selection race for the SWISSA cross country carnival as well as a fund raiser for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Half Yearly Examinations Year 11 half yearly examinations will be held from Monday, 21 May to Friday, 25 May. Years 7 & 8 examinations will begin on Monday, 28 May to Friday, 1 June. All students are advised to begin revising and summarising. Studies have shown that when students cram, information is placed in short term memory, which only lasts for a little while! Therefore, the more information that is revised and summarized well in advance of examinations, it will be better retained in long term memory, thus students will spend less time memorising and restudying. We wish all students good luck in their examinations! We wish all mothers a very happy Mother s Day!
ΝΕΑ ΤΟΥ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΙΟΥ Αθλητικοί Αγώνες των Ελληνορθόδοξων Κολλεγίων Οι ετήσιοι Αθλητικοί Αγώνες θα αρχίσουν τη ευτέρα 30 Απριλίου και θα τελειώσουν την Παρασκευή 4 Μαΐου. Το Κολλέγιο των Αγίων Αναργύρων στη Μελβούρνη έχει διοργανώσει το πρόγραµµα των Αγώνων. Ευχόµαστε σε όλους τους µαθητές και καθηγητές να έχουν καλό ταξίδι στη Μελβούρνη, όπου οι µαθητές θα συναγωνιστούν στο ποδόσφαιρο, στο µπάσκετ και στο νέτµπωλ. Επίσης τα παιδιά θα λάβουν µέρος σε δηµόσιες οµιλίες στα Ελληνικά. Ετήσιος Σχολικός Χορός Ο ετήσιος Σχολικός Χορός της Αγίας Ευφηµίας δίνει την ευκαιρία στα µέλη της σχολικής κοινότητας να συνευρεθούν σε κοινωνικό επίπεδο και να περάσουν µιαν ευχάριστη βραδιά µε εξαιρετικό φαγητό και χορό. Εξέταση του SNAP Οι µαθητές της Πρώτης Γυµνασίου θα καθίσουν για το SNAP test την Τρίτη, 8 Μαΐου. Ο σκοπός του διαγωνισµού είναι να εκτιµηθούν οι αριθµητικές ικανότητες των µαθητών. Σχολικές Φωτογραφίες Οι σχολικές φωτογραφίες θα λάβουν χώρα την Τετάρτη, 9 Μαΐου 2007. Όλοι οι µαθητές πρέπει να φορέσουν την χειµερινή σχολική στολή τους. Είναι υποχρεωτικό οι µαθητές να φορέσουν το σακάκι και τη γραβάτα τους. Αγώνες Ανωµάλου Εδάφους (Cross Country) Το Γυµνάσιο του Κολλεγίου της Αγίας Ευφηµίας έχει οργανώσει Αγώνες Ανωµάλου Εδάφους την Πέµπτη, 10 Μαΐου στο Lake Gillawarna, στο Georges Hall. Η συµµετοχή στον αγώνα είναι υποχρεωτική. Οι µαθητές που θα τερµατίσουν τον αγώνα θα επιλεχθούν για τους αγώνες του SWISSA. Εκκλησιασµός Η υποχρεωτική ηµέρα εκκλησιασµού είναι η εξής: Α - Γ Λυκείου Κυριακή 13 Μαΐου ώρα 9.45π.µ.
Βραδιά Πληροφοριών Γυµνασίου Η βραδιά Πληροφοριών του Γυµνασίου θα διεξαχθεί την Τετάρτη 16 Μαΐου, στις 7.00µ.µ. στο χωλ του σχολείου. Όλες οι οικογένειες προσκαλούνται να παρευρεθούν και να πάρουν σηµαντικές πληροφορίες για το Γυµνάσιο του Κολλεγίου της Αγίας Ευφηµίας. Οι γονείς/κηδεµόνες θα λάβουν µέρος σε ξενάγηση του σχολείου, όπου θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να δουν τα καινούρια τεχνολογικά εργαστήρια των ηλεκτρονικών υπολογιστών. Εξετάσεις Α Εξαµήνου Οι εξετάσεις Α εξαµήνου για το µήνα Μάιο, έχουν προγραµµατιστεί ως εξής: Β Λυκείου από ευτέρα 21 Μαΐου έως Παρασκευή 25 Μαΐου. Do you speak GREEK? At MARCS Auditory Laboratories we are conducting research on how people learn languages. You are invited to participate in this research if you are: 18-45 years old were exposed to Greek since birth learned Greek before English started learning English by the age of 5 Older brothers, sisters and cousins of current St. Euphemia students, as well as young parents, fall into this group of people. Experiments involve simply listening to sounds and answering questions about them. Experiments will take no more than 1 hour. You will be compensated for your time with $20 travel allowance per experimental session. MARCS Auditory Laboratories is located within the University of Western Sydney Bankstown campus in Milperra. This research is being conducted by Mark Antoniou, a former St. Euphemia College student, and is required for the completion of a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
