To Parents of Young Children: In case you are not aware, our church has a Cry/Bride Room in the Narthex. For those parents whose young children might understandably get fussy during a service, please feel free to take your youngster into that room for a short while. (There is a closed circuit TV showing the service in the room as well as a bathroom/changing station). The intention is NOT to relegate you to another room; rather, this will enable you to attend to your child in a quiet environment before bringing him/her back into the church. December 10, 2017 10th Sunday of Luke The Holy Martyrs Menas, Hermogenes, and Eugraphus Thomas the Righteous of Bithynia St. Nicholas Shrine Vigil Candle: Thank you to Charles and Cathy Zarcone for sponsoring today s vigil candle for St. Nicholas Shrine. Anyone wishing to sponsor a vigil candle should sign up at the Pangari. (Each vigil candle lasts one week). Each week a new vigil candle will be placed next to the icon of St. Nicholas until the construction of St. Nicholas Shrine has been completed. The asking donation is $10. Memorial Service: Today s memorial is being chanted for the men and boys who were executed on December 13, 1943 in Kalavryta, Greece, during the German occupation of Greece. May their memory be eternal. Coffee Hour: Today s coffee hour is hosted by Mrs. Demetra Giannakarios in memory of those who died during the Holocaust of Kalavryta. PTO Meeting Today: There is a PTO meeting today in the Flex Room after the Divine Liturgy. Vasilopita Sale: TODAY is the deadline for placing your Vasilopita order. Order forms are available at the back of the Cultural Center during Coffee Hour. Vasilopites must be picked up on December 17 th. Senior Citizen Ministry: St. Sophia s Senior Parea is open to all senior citizens of the community. The next meeting of the Senior Parea will be on Thursday, December 14 th. 2018 Ecclesiastical Calendars: In an effort to save the Parish resources, 2018 Church calendars are available for pickup on the table outside of the Parish office on a first come, first serve basis. We respectfully request that each stewarding family take only 1 calendar per household. Thank you! St. Sophia s Angel Tree We appreciate and thank everyone who has taken a tag from the Angel Tree to help those children who are less fortunate. There are still some tags available on the tree. Gifts are due back to the church by December 17 th, wrapped or unwrapped, and they can be left under the tree in the Cultural Center. Thank you for your generosity. (See inside back cover of bulletin for more information.) Apron Sale: Thank you to Mrs. Sophia Kalderemtzis, who recently made some aprons and sold them to ladies of the parish. Proceeds of the apron sale were donated to help with the operating expenses of our church. We thank her for her generosity, and we also thank the ladies who purchased these aprons. This is a perfect example of Stewardship: Stewards who unselfishly and joyfully offer their time, talent and treasures, which in turn enhances the spirituality and ministry of the local parish.
