ST. MAKRINA GROUP NEWS The St. Makrina group is joining a Pan-Orthodox food drive for St. Innocent s Orphanage in Tijuana Mexico. This orphanage is the only Orthodox orphanage that ministers specifically to young boys who have aged out of the traditional system (typically age 12 years old.) Shipping costs for St. Innocent s and Project Mexico are covered by a generous benefactor in California. Bags will be available in the Narthex. Please answer Christ s call to feed the hungry and protect the orphans by filling as many bags of food as you can. Thank you. NEW BEGINNINGS PRE-SCHOOL New Beginnings Pre-School has openings available for children 2.9 years through Kindergarten age. There are full and half day sessions. Programs open are two day three days and five days. All teachers are certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. He was telling us that the purpose of our abiding in Him is that we may bear fruit for God in the world. By this My Father is glorified that you bear much fruit (John 15:8). Just as the vine bears fruit only through its branches so Jesus has chosen to work in the world through us. We are the members of His body the branches through which the Vine must bear fruit. We bear fruit when we serve and support God and His Church. November

As an official representative of the Church Council Members will make every effort to exemplify its sacred character and spirit. And he said 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul 'Soul you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease eat drink be merry.' But God said to him 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God." As he said these things he cried out: "He who has ears to hear let him hear." CEMETERY VISITS: Due to the number of sacraments 40 day blessings and memorials on Sundays it is difficult to make unscheduled cemetery visits on Sundays after liturgy. If you would like a Trisagion at the graveside you are kindly asked to make an appointment during the week by calling the church office. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS! Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are only permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with Father Chris. HOSPITAL VISITS Salem Hospital is making a change in order to be in compliance with new privacy laws. This change will mean that we will no longer receive the list of Orthodox patients in the hospital. So if you or a loved one will be in the hospital please call the church office so that we can pay you a pastoral visit. This change will also affect Beverly Hospital as well. Also families of people in nursing home please call the church office so that their names will be included on the list of residents. This year the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be held on Tuesday November 20 at 7:00 PM at Saint Vasilios Church 7 Paleologos Street Peabody. The Peabody Clergy and Ministerial Association comprised of clergy from Catholic Protestant Orthodox and Jewish communities of Peabody invite you to gather in prayers and hymns of thanksgiving in anticipation of our national day of Thanksgiving.
