The Mynute Sinthesi C.S.I. boiler can be installed either indoors or outdoors (but in a partially protected place): Indoor installation: the boiler can be installed in various types of room, as long as the combustion product discharge and combustion air suction are outside the room itself. In this case, the room does not require any ventilation opening because these are boilers with an "airtight" combustion circuit in relation to the installation environment. If combustion air is picked up from the installation room, the room must be equipped with ventilation openings complying with the technical standards and suitably dimensioned. Consider the clearances necessary to access safety and adjustment devices and to perform maintenance operations. Check that the electric protection level of the appliance is suitable for the installation room characteristics. If the boilers are supplied with fuel gas of a specific weight greater than that of the air, the electric parts will have to be positioned more than 500mm above ground level. Outdoor installation in a partially protected place: the boiler must be installed in a partially protected place - i.e. it must not be directly exposed to atmospheric agents. The boiler is fitted as standard with an automatic anti-freeze system that activates when the temperature of the water in the primary circuit falls below 5 C. To take advantage of this protection (based on burner operation), the boiler must be able to switch itself on; any lockout condition (e.g. a lack of gas or electricity, or the intervention of a safety device) therefore deactivates the protection. For all outdoor installations in a partially protected place: if the machine is left unpowered for long periods in areas where temperatures may fall below 0 C, and you do not want to drain the heating system, you are advised to add a specific, good quality anti-freeze liquid to the primary circuit. Carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions with regards not only the percentage of anti-freeze liquid to be used for the minimum temperature at which you want to keep the machine circuit, but also the duration and disposal of the liquid itself. For the domestic hot water part, we recommend you drain the circuit. The boiler component materials are resistant to ethylene glycol based anti-freeze liquids. Anti-freeze kits and upper cover kits are also available for boilers installed outdoors in a partially protected place. MINIMUM DISTANCES In order to have access to the boiler to perform regular maintenance operations, respect the minimum spaces foreseen for installation (fig. 9). For correct appliance positioning, bear in mind that: it must not be placed above a cooker or other cooking device it is forbidden to leave inflammable products in the room where the boiler is installed heat-sensitive walls (e.g. wooden walls) must be protected with proper insulation. IMPORTANT Before installation, wash all system piping carefully in order to remove any residues that may impair the operation of the appliance. Connect the discharge manifold to a suitable discharge system (for details, refer to paragraph 3.7). The domestic hot water circuit does not need a safety valve, but make sure that the pressure of waterworks does not exceed 6 bar. Ii in doubt, install a pressure reducer. Prior to ignition, make sure that the boiler is designed to operate with the gas available; this can be checked by the wording on the packaging and by the adhesive label indicating the gas type. It is very important to highlight that in some cases the smoke pipes are under pressure and therefore, the connections of several elements must be airtight. 3.2 Cleaning the system/characteristics of the heating circuit water In the case of a new installation or replacement of the boiler, it is necessary to clean the heating system. To ensure the device works well, top up the additives and/or chemical treatments (e.g. anti-freeze liquids, filming agents, etc.) and check the parameters in the table are within the values indicated. Parameters udm Heating circuit water Filling water ph value Hardness F Appearance - clear 3.3 Securing the wall-mounted boiler and hydraulic connections The boiler is supplied as standard with a boiler support plate with built-in pre-assembly template (fig. 10). The position and dimension of hydraulic fittings are shown in the detail drawing. For the assembly, proceed as follows: - secure the boiler support plate (F) using the pre-assembly template (G) to the wall and use a spirit level to make sure that everything is perfectly horizontal - mark the 4 holes (ø 6 mm) envisaged for securing the boiler support plate (F) and the 2 holes (ø 4 mm) for securing the pre-assembly template (G) - make sure that all measurements are exact, then drill the wall using drill tips with the diameters indicated above - secure the plate (with the built-in template) to the wall using the plugs supplied. Make the hydraulic connections (fig. 11) The operations to install the boiler and connect it to the water and gas supplies are now complete. 3.4 FCR function (reduced condensation formation) If you want to reduce the formation of condensation, follow the instructions below: - position the selectors for adjusting the temperature of the domestic hot water and the heating water in the zone indicated by "FCR" (reduced condensation formation) (fig.12). The closer the selector gets to the maximum value that can be set, the less condensation produced. - after loosening the plugs (T), connect the bypass ramp (supplied) to the delivery and return ramp (fig. 13) The position and size of the hydraulic connections are indicated below: R heating return 3/4 M M heating delivery 3/4 M G gas connection 3/4 M AC DHW outlet 1/2 M AF DHW inlet 1/2 M 3.5 Electrical wiring The boilers leave the factory fully wired, with the power cable already connected. They require only the connection of the ambient thermostat (TA) to the specific terminals (fig. 6). To access the terminal board: set the main system switch to OFF loosen the screws (A) that hold the housing in place (fig. 14) move the housing base forwards and then upwards to unhook it from the frame press the side buttons on the control panel rotate the control panel towards you remove the terminal board cover by loosening the screws (B) (fig. 15) The room thermostat must be connected as shown on the electrical diagram. Ambient thermostat input in safety low voltage (24V DC). 4

5 The connection to the mains supply must be made via a separation device with an omnipolar opening of at least 3.5mm (EN , category III). The appliance works with alternating current at 230 Volt/50 Hz, and complies with Standard EN It is compulsory to carry out connection with an efficient earth circuit, according to national and local legislation. It is advisable to comply with neutral phase connection (L-N). The earth wire must be a couple of centimetres longer than the others. It is forbidden to use gas and/or water pipes to earth electrical appliances. The manufacturer declines liability for any damage if the appliance was not connected to an earth circuit. If the power cable is replaced, use a cable of the HAR H05V2V2-F type, 3 x 0.75mm 2, with max. outside diameter 7mm. 3.6 Gas connection Before connecting the appliance to the gas network, check that: - national and local regulations are complied - the gas type is appropriate for the appliance - the piping is clean. The gas pipe must be installed outdoors. If the pipe has to pass through the wall, it must pass through the central opening in the lower part of the template. It is advisable to install a filter of suitable dimensions on the gas line if the distribution network contains solid particles. Once the appliance has been installed check that connections are sealed according to current installation regulations 3.7 Discharge manifold The discharge manifold (fig. 16) collects: condensate water, any evacuation water from the safety valve and the system discharge water. The manifold must be connected via a rubber pipe (not provided) to an appropriate collection and evacuation system in the white water discharge drain in compliance with current regulations. The outer diameter of the manifold is 20 mm: it is therefore advisable to use a rubber pipe Ø18-19 mm closed with a suitable clamp (not provided). Regularly check that the discharge manifold is not blocked by solid residues that might prevent the outflow of condensate water. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from the failure to channel the condensate. Sealing of the condensate drainage connection line must be guaranteed. The boiler manufacturer is not responsible for any floods caused by the intervention of the safety valves. 3.8 Evacuation of combustion products and air suction Observe applicable legislation regarding flue gas exhaustion. The release of combustion products is assured by a centrifugal fan placed inside the combustion chamber and its correct operation is constantly checked by a pressure switch. The boiler is supplied without the flue gas outlet/air suction kit, since it is possible to use the accessories for appliance with a forced draught sealed chamber that better adapts to the installation characteristics. For flue gas extraction and the restoration of boiler combustion air, it is essential to use only certified pipes and ensure that the connection is made correctly as indicated in the instructions supplied with the flue gas accessories. A single smoke pipe can be connected to several appliances provided that every appliance is sealed chamber type. The boiler is a C-type appliance (with airtight chamber), and must therefore have a safe connection to the flue gas discharge pipe and to the combustion air suction pipe (both with external outlet); without them, the boiler cannot work. Both concentric and twin terminals are available. (TYPE B22P-B52P) INSTALLATION Flue gas discharge pipe ø 80 (fig. 17) The flue gas outlet pipe can be directed to the most suitable direction according to installation requirements. The manufacturer is not responsible for possible damages due to safety valve operation. 4 - IGNITION AND OPERATION 4.1 Preliminary checks Before starting up the boiler, check: a) that the supply networks data (electric, water, gas) corresponds to the label data b) that piping leaving the boiler is covered by thermal insulation sheath c) that flue gas extraction and air suction pipes work correctly d) that conditions for regular maintenance are guaranteed if the boiler is placed inside or between furniture e) the seal of the fuel adduction system f) that fuel capacity corresponds to values requested by the boiler g) that the fuel supply system has the correct capacity for the necessary capacity to the boiler and that it has all the safety and control devices prescribed by current regulations. 4.2 Appliance ignition To start up the boiler it is necessary to carry out the following operations: - power the boiler - turn on the gas tap to allow fuel flow - set the room thermostat to the required temperature (~20 C) - turn the mode selector to the required position: Winter: turn the function selector in the area marked with + and - (fig. 24b) to obtain DHW and heating. In case of a heat request, the boiler will switch on and the digital display will show the temperature of the heating water, the heating mode icon and the flame icon (fig. 25). In case of a request for domestic hot water, the display (fig. 3-2) will show the temperature of the domestic water, the DHW mode icon and the flame icon (fig. 26). Adjustment of the heating water temperature To adjust the heating water temperature, turn the knob with the symbol (fig. 27) clockwise in the area marked with + and -. Summer: turn the selector onto the summer symbol (fig. 24a) to activate the traditional function of domestic hot water only. In the case of a request for domestic hot water, the display will show the temperature of the domestic water, the DHW mode icon and the flame icon (fig. 26). Pre-heating (faster hot water): turn the domestic water temperature adjustment knob (fig. 29) onto the symbol to activate the pre-heating function. The display will show the fixed symbol. Bring the domestic hot water temperature adjustment knob back to the required position. This function keeps the water in the domestic hot water exchanger hot, to reduce standby times when a request is made. The display indicates the outlet temperature of the heating water or the domestic hot water based upon the request in progress. During burner ignition following a pre-heating request, the display shows the flashing symbol and the flame icon (fig. 30). To deactivate the pre-heating function, rotate the domestic hot water temperature adjustment knob back to the symbol. Bring the domestic hot water temperature adjustment knob back to the required position. This function cannot be activated when the boiler is OFF: function selector on OFF (fig. 34). Adjusting the domestic hot water temperature To adjust the domestic water temperature (bathrooms, showers, kitchen, etc.), turn the knob with the symbol (fig. 28) in the area marked with + and -. The boiler remains in standby until the burner ignites in response to a heat request. The display shows the domestic water temperature, the DHW mode icon and the flame icon (fig. 26). The boiler continues to function until the temperatures set on the boiler are reached, or the heat request terminates; it will then go back to standby. If the digital display shows the icon and an alarm code, this means the boiler is in a temporary stop condition (see the "Operating status and faults" chapter) (fig. 31). Environment Automatic Adjustment System function (S.A.R.A.) By setting the heating water temperature selector in the area marked with AUTO (fig. 32) (temperature value from 55 to 65 C), the S.A.R.A. self-adjusting system is activated: the boiler varies the delivery temperature according to the closing signal of the ambient thermostat. When the temperature set with the heating water temperature selector is reached, a 20-minute count begins. If the ambient thermostat still requests heat during this period, the value of the set temperature automatically increases by 5 C. When the new value is reached, another 20-minute count begins. If the ambient thermostat still requests heat during this period, the value of the set temperature automatically increases by 5 C. This new temperature value is the result of the temperature set manually with the heating water temperature selector and the increase of +10 C of the S.A.R.A function. After the second cycle the temperature value should be kept at the set value +10 C until the request of the ambient thermostat is met. Reduced Condensation Formation function If you want to reduce the formation of condensation, follow the instructions below: - position the selectors for adjusting the temperature of the domestic hot water and the heating water in the zone marked with "FCR" (reduced condensation formation) (fig.33). The closer the selector nears the maximum value that can be set, the less condensation is produced. 4.3 Switching off Temporary switch-off In the event of short periods of absence, set the function selector to (OFF) (fig. 34). The display will switch off. In this way (leaving the electricity and fuel supplies enabled), the boiler is protected by the following systems: - Heating anti-freeze: this function is activated if the temperature measured by the delivery probe drops below 5 C. In this phase, the circulator is activated. If the boiler is not in lockout, the burner is also activated at minimum output until the delivery water temperature reaches 35 C. During the anti-freeze cycle, the symbol (fig. 35) appears on the digital display. - DHW anti-freeze: the function is activated if the temperature measured by the domestic water probe drops below 5 C. In this phase, the circulator is activated. If the boiler is not in lockout, the burner is also activated at minimum output until the delivery water temperature reaches 55 C. During the anti-freeze cycle, the symbol appears on the digital display (fig. 35). - Circulator anti-blocking: an operation cycle is activated every 24 hours after the last heat request. Switching off for long periods In the event of lengthy periods of absence, set the function selector to (OFF) (fig. 34). The display will switch off. Turn the main system switch OFF. Turn off the fuel and water taps of the heating and domestic hot water system. In this case, anti-freeze device is deactivated: empty the systems, in case of risk of frost. 4.4 Operating status and faults The operating status of the boiler is shown on the digital display, below is a list of the types of displays. 7

If the reset attempts do not reactivate the boiler, contact the Technical Assistance Centre. Fault A04 - Insufficient water pressure Check the pressure value indicated by the water gauge: if it is less than 0.5 bar, turn the function selector to OFF (fig. 34) and adjust the filling tap until the pressure reaches a value between 1 and 1.5 bar. Then turn the function selector to the required position. If these pressure drops occur frequently, contact the Technical Assistance Centre. - Anti-overflow pressure switch Position the mode selector on (OFF), wait for 5-6 seconds and then turn it to the required position. If the fault persists, contact the Technical Assistance Centre. - Full basin (if the condensation decantation basin kit is installed) Remove the basin and empty it (following the instructions supplied with the kit). Once the operations have been completed, replace the basin. Turn the function selector to OFF, wait for 5-6 seconds and then turn it to the required position. If the fault persists, contact the Technical Assistance Centre. Fault A06 The boiler functions normally but does not guarantee a constant domestic hot water temperature, which remains set at around 50 C. The intervention of the Technical Assistance Centre is necessary. Fault A07 Request the intervention of the Technical Assistance Centre. 4.5 Adjustments The boiler is factory-set by the manufacturer. If it is necessary to adjust it again, for example after extraordinary maintenance, after replacement of gas valve or after gas conversion, carry out the following procedure. The maximum output adjustment must be carried out in the sequence indicated exclusively by qualified personnel. remove the housing by loosening the fixing screws A (fig. 36) loosen the screw of the pressure test point downstream from the gas valve by roughly two turns, then connect the pressure gauge disconnect the compensation inlet from the air distribution box Maximum power and minimum domestic hot water adjustment Turn on a hot water tap to its maximum output on the control panel: set the function selector to (summer) (fig. 37a) turn the domestic hot water temperature selector to its maximum (fig. 37b) power the boiler electrically by setting the main system switch to ON check the pressure on the pressure gauge is stable, or use a milliammeter connected to the modulator to make sure the latter is receiving the maximum available current (120 ma for G20 and 165 ma for LPG). use a screwdriver to carefully prise the protection cap out of the adjustment screws using a fork spanner CH10 on the maximum output adjustment nut to obtain the value indicated in the data table disconnect a modulator faston wait until the pressure shown on the pressure gauge is stable at minimum value use an Allen spanner to set the red adjustment screw of the DHW minimum, calibrating it until the pressure gauge shows the value indicated in the data table reconnect the modulator faston turn off the domestic hot water tap carefully refit the protection cap of the adjustment screws Minimum and maximum heating electric adjustment The electric adjustment function is activated and deactivated exclusively by the jumper (JP1) (fig. 39). ADJ appears on the display, indicating that the calibration procedure is in progress. The function can be enabled in the following ways: by powering the card with jumper JP1 inserted and the function selector in the winter position, regardless of the possible presence of other operation requests. by inserting jumper JP1, with the function selector in the winter position, without any heat request in progress. By activating the function the burner is ignited through simulation of heat request in heating. To perform calibration operations, proceed as follow: switch off the boiler remove the housing and the terminal board cover, loosening the screws B (fig. 39) to access the card insert jumper JP1 (fig. 39) to enable the minimum/maximum heating adjustment functions of the knobs on the control panel. make sure the function selector is in the winter position (see paragraph 4.2). power the boiler Electric card live (230 Volt) turn the heating water temperature adjustment knob B (fig. 40) until it reaches the minimum heating value as indicated in the multigas table insert jumper JP2 (fig. 39) turn the DHW temperature adjustment knob C (fig. 40) until it reaches the maximum heating value as indicated in the multigas table remove jumper JP2 to store the maximum heating value remove jumper JP1 to store the minimum heating value and to quit the calibration procedure reconnect the compensation inlet to the air distribution box. Disconnect the pressure gauge and re-tighten the pressure test point screw. To finish the calibration function without storing the set values, proceed as follows: a) set the function selector to OFF b) remove power supply voltage c) remove JP1/JP2 8

9 The calibration function is automatically finished, without storing minimum and maximum values, after 15 minutes of its activation. The function is automatically finished also in case of definitive stop or lockout. Also in this case, function conclusion DOES NOT provide values storing. Note To calibrate maximum heating only, you can remove jumper JP2 (to store the maximum) and then quit the function without storing the minimum, bringing the function selector to (OFF) or disconnecting the power supply to the boiler. After each intervention on the adjustment element of the gas valve, seal it with sealing varnish. When adjustment is complete: bring the temperature set via the ambient thermostat back to the required value bring the heating water temperature selector to the required position close the control panel replace the housing. 4.6 Gas conversion operations Conversion from a family gas to other family gas can be performed easily also when the boiler is installed. The boiler is supplied for operation with methane gas (G20), but it can be converted to LPG (G31). It is pre-adjusted in the factory (as shown on the technical label) and so does not required any further calibration. Proceed as follows: disconnect the boiler from the electricity supply and turn off the gas tap remove in the following order: housing, air distribution box cover and combustion chamber cover (fig. 41) disconnect the glowplug cable connection remove the lower cable grommet from its seat on the air distribution box remove the burner fixing screws and then remove the burner with the glowplug still attached and with the relative cables using a socket or fork spanner, remove the nozzles and the washers and replace them with the ones in the kit (fig. 42) Use and assemble the washers contained in the kit also in case of manifolds without washers. replace the burner in the combustion chamber and tighten the screws that fix it to the gas manifold place the cable grommet with the glowplug cable in its seat on the air distribution box reconnect the glowplug cable replace the combustion chamber cover and the air distribution box cover tip the control panel towards the front of the boiler remove the terminal board cover on the control card (fig. 43): if the conversion is from methane gas to LPG, insert the jumper in position JP3 if the conversion is from LPG to methane gas, remove the jumper from position JP3 reposition the previously removed components restore voltage to the boiler and turn on the gas tap (with the boiler operating, check correct seal of the gas feeding circuit connections). Turn off the appliance before carrying out work or maintenance of structures near the flue discharge connections and/or fume discharge devices and their accessories. Once work is completed, a qualified technician must check the efficiency of the appliance. IMPORTANT: before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance, use appliance and system switches to interrupt power supply and close the gas supply turning the tap placed on the boiler. 5.1 Routine maintenance This normally means the following tasks: removing any oxidation from the burner removing any scale from the heat exchanger checking and cleaning the discharge pipes checking the external appearance of the boiler checking the ignition, switch-off and operation of the appliance, in both domestic water mode and heating mode checking the seal on the gas and water couplings and pipes checking the gas consumption at maximum and minimum output. checking the position of the ignition-flame detection glowplug checking the no gas safety system Do not clean the appliance or its parts with inflammable substances (e.g. petrol, alcohol, etc.). Do not clean panels, painted parts and plastic parts with paint thinner. Panel cleaning must be carried out only with soapy water. 5.2 Extraordinary maintenance These tasks restore appliance operation in accordance with the design and regulations - e.g. following the repair of an accidental fault. This normally means: replacement repair overhaul of components. These tasks require special means, equipment and tools. 5.3 Check the combustion parameters To carry out the combustion analysis, proceed as follows: - open the hot water tap to its maximum output set the function selector to summer (fig. 44) and the DHW temperature selector to the maximum value (fig. 44) insert the analyser probes in the specific positions on the air distribution box, after removing the screws (fig. 45) power the boiler the appliance works at maximum output and you can check combustion. After analysis is complete: turn off the hot water tap remove the analyser probe and close the combustion analysis inlet, carefully replacing the previously removed screws. 6 - SERIAL NUMBER Domestic hot water operation Heating operation Qn Heat input Qm Reduced heat delivery Pn Heat output Pm Reduced heat output IP Protection level Pmw Maximum DHW pressure Pms Maximum heating pressure T Temperature η Efficiency D Specific capacity NOx NOx class Conversion must be carried out by qualified personnel. Once the conversion has been made, adjust the boiler again as indicated in the specific paragraph, and attach the new identification label included with the kit (red for LPG or yellow for MTN). 5 - MAINTENANCE To ensure product characteristics and efficiency remain intact and to comply with prescriptions of current regulations, it is necessary to render the appliance to systematic checks at regular intervals. Control frequency depends on the installation and use conditions, but an annual check-up performed by authorised Technical Assistance Service personnel is advisable.
