Meanwhile the coefficients of sim ilarity between p lant communities and samp le fields were studied. Results show that the p roduction of pollen and spores are rich with relatively high p roduction of fern spores in southern subtrop ics of Yunnan, which has typ ical subtrop ical characteristics and distinct vertical differentiations. surface woody and herbage pollen can basically rep resent the p lant components of the region, while the fern spores are super2rep resentative. The coefficients of sim ilarity between p lant communities and samp le fields are mostly over 70%, which shows that the surface assemblages can reflect the p lant community features.
