Taxonomic notes Coladenia tissa was provisionally accepted as endemic to Sri Lanka in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) and is now so confirmed as it no longer appears on the official list of Indian species (Saji et al., 2018). Tapena thwaitesi was treated as T. t. thwaitesi in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) but it has been since determined that the taxa that had been classified as subspecies are now accepted as species (i.e. T. bornea and T. minuscula), and T. t. hampsoni has been synonymized with T. thwaitesi (Kunte et al., 2018). Caltoris philippina philippina was listed in error as C. philippina seriata in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016); seriata is a junior subjective synonym of C. philippina. Neopithecops zalmora: The outermost photograph on page 60 was taken by T.S. Priyadarshana in Adam s Peak; he and I.H. Wijewardhane found several individuals there and in the Knuckles area with this configuration which is slightly different than the usual Quaker. More studies are needed to determine whether or not this is a new species. Spalgis epius is often spelled as S. epeus (cf. van der Poorten & van der Poorten, 2016). Megisba malaya thwaitesi: van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) reported that this taxa might prove to be endemic. It had been treated as a distinct species, but recent molecular work and a study of the male genitalia has confirmed that M. malaya thwaitesi is indeed a subspecies of M. malaya (Anonymous, 2018c). Acytolepis puspa felderi: the populations from south India are now considered to be A. p. gisca (Kunte et al., 2018). Since A. p. felderi was described from a specimen from Sri Lanka, until we have further evidence, we retain A. p. felderi as the subspecies present in Sri Lanka and it is now considered endemic. Udara singalensis was provisionally considered endemic to Sri Lanka in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) but is now confirmed as endemic (Kunte et al., 2018). Horaga albimacula viola: Kunte et. al. (2018) treats this as H. viola but we have not yet seen evidence to support this. Curetis siva was described by Evans in 1954 from specimens from south India and from one specimen that was labeled as [ female, Ceylon ]. The species was not recognized as being found in Sri Lanka by subsequent authors (e.g. d Abrera, 2000; Gaonkar, 1996; van der Poorten & van der Poorten, 2016). When we became aware of this species, we realized that what we had considered to be a wet season form of C. thetis was actually C. siva. Figures #6-4c & d in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) are actually of C. siva and not C. thetis. In 2006, S. Sanjeeva reared a Curetis from the wet zone on Pericopsis mooniana; at the time he thought that it was C. thetis but we now realize it was likely C. siva. Unfortunately, this was 8 George and Nancy van der Poorten 2018

before Sanjeeva had a camera and he was unable to take any photographs. Further studies are underway to flesh out the life history and ecology of this species in Sri Lanka. Bindahara phocides moorei: Kunte et al. (2018) treats this as B. moorei but we have not yet seen evidence to support this. Mycalesis patnia is now considered endemic to Sri Lanka. M. junonia from India was earlier considered a subspecies of M. patnia but is now considered a distinct species (Kunte et al., 2018). There are no other subspecies of M. patnia. Mycalesis subdita was considered by van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) as endemic to Sri Lanka. It is now recognized that it is also found in India (Anonymous, 2017). Mycalesis perseus typhlus is provisionally considered to be an endemic subspecies in Sri Lanka. It has been listed as occurring in India but the most recent list (Anonymous, 2018a) does not include it. M. p. typhlus may prove to be synonymous with M. p. tabitha. Ypthima singala was previously considered endemic to Sri Lanka but Kunte et al. (2018) list it as being found in India as well though Anonymous (2018b) indicates no photos or locations in India. Junonia lemonias vaisya: The Indian populations were formerly considered to be the same subspecies as in Sri Lanka but Kunte et al. (2018) now treat the Indian populations as J. l. lemonias. Charaxes bharata was listed as Charaxes athamas in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016). Toussaint et al. (2016) determined that C. athamas was not found in India or Sri Lanka, but only further east, and that the species found in India and Sri Lanka was C. bharata. We use the common name, Indian Nawab, as does Ogale et al. (2017). Cethosia nietneri is now considered endemic to Sri Lanka. C. mahratta from India has been considered a subspecies of C. nietneri but is now considered a distinct species (Kunte et al., 2018). There are no other subspecies of C. nietneri. Graphium teredon was named as Graphium sarpedon teredon in van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016). It is now considered to be Graphium teredon, which was originally described as a distinct species from Kanara, India and Sri Lanka. Page & Treadaway (2013) restored it to its original status on the basis of distinct differences in pigmentation/scale structure and male genitalia. It is called the Narrow-banded Bluebottle in India, a name that we have also adopted, in recognition of the blue-green band on the wings that is narrower than in Graphium sarpedon, the Common Bluebottle. Family Pieridae, subfamily Coliadinae: van der Poorten & van der Poorten (2016) listed two tribes but there are no valid names used at the level of tribe in this subfamily.
