FORTHCOMING EVENTS ALL MY OWN WORK All Year 10 students will be completing the compulsory All My Own Work program in preparation for the senior years of High School. The program is designed to help Higher School Certificate students to follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding and valuing ethical practices when locating and using information as part of their HSC studies. HOLY COMMUNION All students will be attending church on Thursday morning, 10 December. They are all encouraged to prepare and partake of Holy Communion. Students will complete this program from Wednesday, 2 December till Friday, 4 December. PRESENTATION NIGHT YEAR 10 FAREWELL ASSEMBLY Year 10 will finish school on Friday, 4 December. A Farewell Assembly will take place on Thursday, 3 December and all Year 10 students are expected to be present. We wish Year 10 the best of luck in their future endeavours. SCHOOL FEES A reminder that school fees must be paid prior to the commencement of each term. If there are any parents who have not yet paid, please make arrangements to do so as soon as possible. Thank you to the parents who are up to date with their payments. The Principal and staff of the College invite all parents/guardians, students and friends to attend the Annual Presentation Evening on Thursday, 10 December at 7pm in the School Hall. It is a wonderful occasion where we celebrate the achievements of our students. All students are expected to attend in full school uniform, as the final yearly reports are distributed at the end of the evening. ORDER OF AUSTRALIA The Order of Australia Association has awarded twenty two Certificates of Commendation for community service to students in secondary schools in New South Wales. Sophia Komarkowski of Year 12 and the School Captain of 2009, was selected to receive this award in recognition of her service to the community. She was presented with an inscribed medallion and Certificate of Commendation, by Her Excellency the Governor, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, at Government House, on Friday 20 November. This is a well deserved award for a student who has contributed towards and participated in many worthwhile activities and causes and we are proud of this honour and achievement. The School community wishes to congratulate Sophia for this outstanding achievement and wishes her many more such successes in the future.

RELAY FOR LIFE Relay for Life is an overnight community event where teams of 10-15 participate in a relay style walk or run to raise funds for the Cancer Council. The event brings the whole community together for a night of fun, entertainment, celebration and remembrance. Each Relay for Life event is organised by a local volunteer committee on behalf of the Cancer Council. St. Euphemia College participated in Relay for Life for the second time on Saturday, 7 and 8 November 2009, in memory of Dr Arthur Anderson, our colleague who passed away from cancer over three years ago. Our Team s name is the DOC Anderson Team. The team comprised of students and staff from the College. They were: Irini Apotsis, Dimitri Giannopoulos, Iliada Heretakis, Joanna Heretakis, Dimitri Hursalas, Antonia Komarkowski, Sophia Komarkowski, Michael Messiou, Nicholas Messiou, Connie Papos, Carly Pupulas, Georgia Pupulas, Vicky Pupulas, Ms Omeros, Ms Papastamatis, Ms Vaporidis and Mr. Komarkowski. I thank the team for their enthusiastic spirit and dedication to such a worthwhile cause. I would like to thank the school community for supporting our fundraising events. It was heart warming to see the whole school community get behind all our fundraising efforts. Our students, staff and parents need to be thanked for their kind words of support, which made this event even more special to us. Furthermore, I must thank our sponsors for their generous donations. TOURISM AWARD On Thursday, 26 November 2009, Stephanie Hollis of Year 12 Tourism was awarded a trophy for her outstanding performance during Work Placement this year. Students who study VET courses such as Tourism must complete 70 hours of mandatory Structured Work Placement with an employer in the relevant Industry. Stephanie s employers at Payless World Travel nominated her for this award. I would like to congratulate Stephanie for her achievement and to thank Payless World Travel for allowing our students to complete their Work Placements with them. I would further like to mention the work of Canterbury Bankstown Career Connections, who assist our students in obtaining work placement positions and for hosting today s ceremony. Ms. M.Omeros

POWERHOUSE MUSEUM EXHIBITION Congratulations to Kali Korkidas of Year 12, whose major work for Design and Technology has been selected by the Board of Studies to be exhibited in the DesignTech exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum and the regional tour. Congratulations should also go to her teachers, Ms. Papadimatos and Ms. Velissariou for their guidance in this project. Kali designed three theatrical costumes based on the themes of iconic Australian landscapes, landmarks and the Priscilla Queen of the Desert musical. They were made using recycled and found materials. The snowy Mountains costume was made from cement bags, clothes tags and piano wire. Also, the Daintree Rainforest costume was made from recycled clothing and the City of Sydney costume was made from plastic cups to create the sails of the Opera House and mesh for the Harbour Bridge skirt. An innovative technique included Lead Lights within the Harbour Bridge skirt. This is an outstanding achievement for a student of the College to be selected from thousands of candidates. ΣΟ ΠΑΡΑΗΜΟ ΣΗ ΑΤΣΡΑΛΙΑ ORDER OF AUSTRALIA Ο κεςμόσ οργανιςμόσ Oder of Australia επιβράβευςε είκοςι δφο μακθτζσ από διάφορα Γυμνάςια για τισ υπθρεςίεσ τουσ ςε κοινωφελι ζργα ςτθν Νζα Νότια Αυςτραλία. Η Σοφία Κομαρκόςκθ, μακιτρια τθσ Γ Λυκείου και Σχολικι Επιμελιτρια του 2009, ανταμείφκθκε με αυτό το βραβείο λόγω των κοινωνικών υπθρεςιών τθσ. Η Σοφία ζλαβε ζνα επιγραφόμενο μετάλλιο και ζνα βραβείο Επαίνου από τθν Δρ. Marie Bashir AC CVO, ςτθν Κυβερνθτικι Οικία, τθν Παραςκευι 20 Νοεμβρίου. Η Σχολικι κοινότθτα ευχαριςτεί και ςυγχαίρει τθ Σοφία για τθν εξαιρετικι αυτι επιτυχία ςτθν κοινωνικι τθσ προςφορά και τθσ εφχεται και ςε ανώτερα. RELAY FOR LIFE ΑΓΩΝΑ ΚΤΣΑΛΟΔΡΟΜΙΑ ΓΙΑ ΖΩΗ Ο Αγώνασ Σκυταλοδρομία για Ζωι Relay for Life είναι ζνασ κοινωνικόσ κεςμόσ, όπου ομάδεσ 10 με 15 εκελοντζσ ςυγκεντρώνουν χριματα για τθν Επάρατο Νόςο τον καρκίνο. Το Κολλζγιο τθσ Αγίασ Ευφθμίασ ζλαβε μζροσ για δεφτερθ φορά ςτισ 7 και 8 Νοεμβρίου 2009, εισ ανάμνθςθ του Δρ. Arthur Anderson, πρώθν μζλοσ του διδακτικοφ μασ προςωπικοφ, ο οποίοσ απεβίωςε από καρκίνο πριν από τρία χρόνια. Η ομάδα μασ ονομάηεται «Doc Anderson Team και αποτελείται από μακθτζσ και προςωπικό του Κολλεγίου μασ. Ευχαριςτώ όλουσ τουσ εκελοντζσ για τθν ςυμμετοχι τουσ ςε αυτό τον αξιόλογο κεςμό. Επίςθσ, κα ικελα να ευχαριςτιςω τθν ςχολικι κοινότθτα για τθν υποςτιριξι τθσ ςε αυτι τθν προςπάκεια. Όλοι οι μακθτζσ, το προςωπικό και οι γονείσ ςτάκθκαν δίπλα μασ ςε αυτι τθν προςπάκεια.
