ELMA Motors general information ELMA Motors general information Elma has a long history in Electric motors Technical Information EM Motors The company was founded in 1937 under the name Algemeen Electromotoren Bedrijf de Bilt what means General Electric Motor Company de Bilt, a small village in the center of the Netherlands. This is where we produced the first DC Motors. Nowadays the production has changed to 3 phase induction motors in both squirrel cage and slipring motors with powers from 0.25kW in low Voltage up to 10 Mega Watt in High Voltage. Elma Motors has set its focus on customized motors. This catalogue show just a fraction of all our possibilities. As an example any voltage between 1000V and 11kV can be made. Any special power is possible. And from mechanical point of view, when it concerns different shaft diameters, cooling systems, foot or flange sizes, it s all possible with Elma Motors. Depending on the power and Number of poles, the delivery time will be from 10 up to 14 weeks. The construction of ELMA MOTORS using high Quality cast iron or welded steel frames, optimize the construction design to ensure the requirement of the rigidity and intensity of the construction. Cold-rolled Low loss lamination steel is used in stator core and rotor core, it has advantage of good insulation on surface, low losses which ensures a higher efficiency. High quality mica tape as insulation material with VPI (Vacuum Pressure impregnation) combining the perfect insulation system which making the insulation solid and free of imbedded air bubbles, high rigidity of the winding and, it can endure switching and reversing intensity, F class insulation makes the motor with higher heat stability and longer a longer lifetime. In general, we use the copper-bar rotor as standard for our High voltage squirrel cage motors, This prevents fatigue and failures, meanwhile it lowers the losses and improves the efficiency. The rotor balancing procedure includes static and dynamic-balancing. All ELMA MOTORS meet the international requirements of rotor balancing. This has an direct and positive effect on the bearing life. The design of the bearings depends on the forces on the motor shaft, speed (range) of the motor, size of the motor and requirements on enclosure. We can chose for ball, roller or sleeve bearings. In our offer we always propose what we think is best for your application but please feel free to ask for different solutions. The perfect paint system of the motors ensures good appearance and durability, the standard coating color is RAL7031 emerald, on your demand we can also use a special corrosion protection system. QA, we have ISO 9001! Commodities: EM motors are three phase asynchronous squirrel-cage induction motors, in cast iron execution, totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC). The EM2 motors are available in frame sizes 80-560 for one speed in 2-4 - 6-8 - 10 and 12 pole, the EM1 motors only in 2 and 4 pole. Various combinations of two- and multi speed in frame sizes EM 80-315 and unwounded frame size EM 80-560 in 2-4 - 6 and 8 pole, including spare parts. The terminal box is standard top mounted, a terminal box on the left hand side (EM-L) or on the right hand side (EM1-R) is available on request. Standards: All EM motors are in accordance with EN 600034-1/9, EN 600085, DIN 57530/VDE 0530-1291. The EM motors are executed including drive-end shield and non-drive-end shields, in cast iron, HT200, with longitudinal ribs. Protection class: IP55, according EN 600034-5 / DIN VDE 0530 part 5 Insulation class: Insulation class: F Temperature rise B Surface painting: Color RAL 7031 (grey) Coating primer (approximately 30m) and finishing enamel for general industrial purposes (approximately 45-90 m) climate zone world wide according EN 6000721-2-1 Mechanical Construction: Bearings / Bearing cap / V-seal and Oil seal series EM. The series EM motors are standard equipped with first quality deep groove ball bearings of the brands SKF, C&U, NSK or FAG. The bearings are maintenance free lubricated with Poly urea based grease class 2, (allowable grease temperature 35 C - +130 C). For replacements schedules or regreasing times according to the load and running periods required refer to the mounting and maintenance Manual or your bearing supplier. Frame size EM 80-160 are fitted with V-seals on the shaft. Frame size EM 180-450 are fitted with bearing caps as well as a V-seal on both the drive-end and non-drive-end shafts. Both are fitted in such a way that they can be replaced by oil seals with no additional machining is required. Sizes and type of bearings are given on page 26. Re-greasing series EM: For frame size EM 280 and up motors are standard equipped with a re-greasing device with grease slinger and a flat grease nipple M10x1 mounted. Motors with a NU bearing are also delivered with a re-greasing device at DE. Windings: The windings are vacuum pressure impregnated (VPI process) made of quality insulated wire and insulation material. The impregnation is free of evaporation, category medium, suitable for climate zone tropics. Terminal Box: The terminal boxes for frame EM 80-315 can be rotated by 4 x 90. The terminal boxes for frame size EM 355-560 can be rotated by 2 x 180. Eyebolts: All motors frame size EM 100-355 are equipped with one eyebolt, frame size EM 400-560 with two eyebolts. Motors for mounting IM B5/V1 for frame size EM 132-355 are equipped with 2 eyebolts, frame size EM 400-560 with four eyebolts. ELMA Motors general information ELMA Motors general information Thermal protection: All motors frame size EM 80-560 are standard with PTC termistor sensors, PTC 150C, according EN 600034.11-2. All motors frame size EM 450-560 are also equipped with 3 x PT100 for temperature control of the windings, 2 x PT100 for temperature control of the bearings. Shaft: The center bore in the shaft is in accordance with the standard DIN 332 sheet 1-2, form DS. Balancing: The rotors are dynamic balanced included ½ key in the shaft. ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION Voltage and frequency: The EM motors are standard designed for the following design parameters: 230/400V /Y 50Hz (PN) / 275/480V /Y 60Hz (PN * 1,2) 400/690V /Y 50Hz (PN) / 480/830V /Y 60Hz (PN * 1,2) The motors can run without changing the rated power output on mains in which the voltage at the rated frequency diverges by +/- 5% from the nominal value (design voltage range A). The above standard voltages according to DIN EN 600038 are taken as the design point. The range covered by a standard motor thus is: Design voltage range: Motors to be used for a mains voltage as specified in DIN EN 600038 with the total tolerance of +/- 10%. When the motors are connected to voltages between 95% and 105% of the design voltage range - this corresponds to the mains voltage value according to DIN EN 600038 with +/- 10% - maximum permissible temperature rise of the stator winding maybe approx. 10 K according to EN 600034-1 Power: The power rating (design rating) applies for continuous operation as specified in EN 600034 Part 1 at a coolant temperature of 40 C and an altitude of <1000m above mean sea level, at nominal frequency of 50 Hz and design voltage. The motors have thermal reserves which permit the following overloads in continuous operation: 10% above the rated power output at 40 C coolant temperature or rated power output at 50 C coolant temperature or at an installation altitude of 2500 m above sea-level. The standard balancing is according the international standard EN 600034-14, class A Key and keyway: Feather key for frame sizes EM 80-560 according to DIN 6885, P1, form A. The key length is in according with DIN 748, P3, draft December 1991. Fans: Motors frame size EM 80-280 have standard fans with a Polypropylene / Glass fiber mixture, frames size EM 80-280 are also available with aluminum fan on request. Motors frame sizes EM 315-400 are standard with steel-plate fan. All fans independent of rotation direction according EN 600034 part 6 220-240V / 380-420V /Y 50Hz (PN = 100%) 380-420V / 660-720V /Y 50Hz (PN = 100%) 240-265V / 420-460V /Y 60Hz (PN = 115%) (Temp rise 90 C) 420-460V / 720-800V /Y 60Hz (PN = 115%) (Temp rise 90 C) 265-290V / 460-500V /Y 60Hz (PN = 120%) 460-500V / 790-870V /Y 60Hz (PN = 120%) Other voltages and/or frequencies on request. 1 zone A 2 zone B (outside zone A) 3 rating point These conditions apply only alternatively; when both apply, the power must be reduced. Overload capacities: In compliance with EN 600034 part 1, all motors can be exposed to the following overload conditions: 1,5 times the rated current for 2 min 1,6 times the rated torque for 15 sec. Both conditions apply to the rated voltage and rated frequency. Restarting with residual field and phase opposition: Restarting after mains failure against a 100% residual field is possible with all motors.
