Methods The study group included CTD patients who had thyroid function tested and were hospitalized in the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical College between January 2009 and April 2013. The control group were healthy volunteers. We compared the prevalence of TD between CTD and normal controls and also the prevalence of different TDs in different CTDs. Results There were 780 CTD patients including 438 56. 2% rheumatoid arthritis RA 195 25. 0% systemic lupus erythematosus SLE 85 10. 9% primary Sjogren s syndrome pss 44 5. 6% mixed connective tissue disease MCTD 18 2. 3% systemic sclerosis SSc 286 CTD patients suffered from thyroid diseases 36. 7%.
