At 12 noon we will have a lovely, buffet luncheon. We will have judges giving a first, second, and third prize. Dimitrios Moraitis will be giving a presentation on the Orthodox Church s understanding of the Great Schism which occurred in 1054 A.D.. The East West Schism, also called the Great Schism and the Schism of 1054, was the break of communion between what are now the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic churches, which has lasted since the 11th century. This topic will be discussed in depth at this presentation.

His Eminence extends his deep appreciation to the hundreds of faithful from throughout New England who traveled to Contoocook in order to enjoy a day of fellowship together as we celebrated the blessings of God upon our Metropolis family at our St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center which has become a beacon of Orthodoxy shining brightly upon our youth, young adults and faithful of all ages. The Exaltation of the Cross was one of the wonderful events which took place during the open house last month at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Camp in Contookook, N.H.. Over 650 attendees from many parishes took part in the festivities. Thomas Coulouras, grandson of Fr. Anastasios Coulouras, retrieved the Cross and received a special blessing from the Metropolitan. There was a brief speaking program prior to the blessing, ribbon cutting and dedication of three new facilities at the Retreat Center which include two new cabins, a new state-of-the art athletic park and soccer field and an open-air pavilion. Many parishioners from our parish stepped up to represent our Cathedral with a loukoumades booth which was a big hit. Thank you to all that planned, coordinated, and participated in the dough making and cooking of these delicious treats to benefit the Camp and our Greek Orthodox children.
