Ep i s t l e - St. Pa u l ' s L e t t e r t o t h e He b r e w s 1 1 : 3 3-4 0 ; 1 2 : 1-2 B RETHREN, all the saints through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated - of whom the world was not worthy - wandering over deserts and mountains and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. YOUTH ACTIVITIES GOYA - Thursday, June 30 Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles & Tubing down the river - We will start the day with the Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles, Orthros 8am and Divine Liturgy 9am, then we will meet in Mt. Tabor Hall for a quick lunch. Around 12pm we will head to the Comal river. It is a 2hrs trip. We should be getting back into Austin around 5:30pm. We will know ticket prices in the coming week. Joanna Demopoulos and Elissa are leading the tubing trip on the Comal! Dear Parishioners The torrential rainstorms in Austin between March and May have created delays in finishing the Processional Walkway around our Sanctuary. These delays were unavoidable. Our Parish Council wisely voted on Saturday June 18 to postpone the Consecration date. His Eminence Metropolitan ISAIAH of Denver, has given his blessing to postpone the Consecration and to develop an alternative date. Our historic and holy Consecration will be the proud pinnacle of our efforts for the last 30 years. All of our preparation activities are continuing. Receiving Holy Communion The sacrament of Holy Communion is reserved for only baptized and/or Chrismated Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared by fasting, prayer and confession. The Orthodox Church is not in sacramental communion with any other church outside the Orthodox Christian Faith. Tabor Hall - 8:30am to 1pm As We Prepare for the Consecration of Our Temple by Consecrating Our Hearts The final Parish Wide Women s Retreat in this series led by Presvytera Vasiliki on Consecrating our hearts, will bring everyone full circle in our exploration and consecration.
