The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 6:10-17 B rethren, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 5 STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2018 Research has shown that as Christians we seek three things from our church: Transcendence, Significance & Fellowship Transcendence is to know God and to experience His presence. This we do through prayerful participation in Liturgy and the sacraments. Significance is the desire to have a purpose to do something meaningful most often in service to our fellow man. Fellowship is connecting with others through meaningful relationships. The Church offers opportunities for Transcendence, Significance and Fellowship, and in their pursuit, we also serve and support the Church and fully become members of the Body of Christ. To be stewards of the faith we are also called to be stewards of our local church which nurtures our faith and the faith of others. * Stewardship is an act of faith. When we believe, stewardship follows. * Stewardship is faith in action; action motivated by humble gratitude to God for his blessings in our life.

6 Bringing Your Brokenness Open to individuals and couples, meetings will be held bi-monthly on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. We are studying book Defeating Sin by Fr. Joseph Huneycutt which is available in our bookstore. Our goal is to provide a loving Orthodox Christian atmosphere for support, accountability, study, and discussion, with the ultimate goal of restoring our souls and bodies to the image and likeness of God. 8 Potluck Patristics BOOK STUDY Our Potluck Patristics Book Study is meeting on Monday, December 3, with The Divine Liturgy: A Commentary in the Light of the Fathers. The meeting will start at 6pm with a potluck dinner and the discussion will start at 6:30pm.
