Με 486 βραβευμένες ακτές, η Ελλάδα κατέχει τη 2η θέση παγκοσμίως ανάμεσα σε 47 χώρες από άποψη ποιότητας θαλάσσιων υδάτων και προσφοράς υπηρεσιών στους λουόμενους, όπως ανακοίνωσε η Ελληνική Εταιρεία Προστασίας της Φύσης (ΕΕΠΦ), Εθνικός χειριστής του διεθνούς προγράμματος (Γαλάζια Σημαία). Μάλιστα, φέτος, στο σύνολο των 47 χωρών που συμμετέχουν στο πρόγραμμα, η Ελλάδα κατείχε το 25% των νέων βραβευμένων ακτών. Πρώτος στην Ελλάδα αναδείχθηκε φέτος, με 71 σημαίες, ο νομός Χαλκιδικής. Η διεθνής επιτροπή βράβευσε φέτος 3.574 ακτές, 662 μαρίνες και 50 σκάφη αειφόρου τουρισμού σε όλο τον κόσμο. Η ετήσια αναγγελία των βραβευμένων με τη (Γαλάζια Σημαία) ακτών και Μαρίνων της χώρας μας πραγματοποιήθηκε σε δύο φάσεις. Συγκεκριμένα, στη βραβευμένη παραλία του δήμου Γλυφάδας, πραγματοποιήθηκε το πρωί εκδήλωση εκπαιδευτικού χαρακτήρα με τη συμμετοχή περισσότερων από εκατό παιδιών και εκπαιδευτικών από τα σχολεία της περιοχής. Τα παιδιά συμμετείχαν σε διαδραστικά εργαστήρια και παρακολούθησαν ναυαγοσωστική επίδειξη. Η δεύτερη φάση της εκδήλωσης, που περιλάμβανε και την ανακοίνωση των βραβευμένων ακτών και Μαρίνων, έγινε το απόγευμα στο Glyfada Golf Gardens, παρουσία εκπροσώπων της πολιτείας και κλαδικών φορέων του τουρισμού. Σημειώνεται ότι φέτος η (Γαλάζια Σημαία), το πλέον αναγνωρίσιμο οικολογικό σήμα ποιότητας για ακτές, μαρίνες και σκάφη αειφόρου τουρισμού, συμπληρώνει 30 χρόνια εφαρμογής στον κόσμο και στην Ελλάδα.
