At Argo Gallery Digeni Akrita 64 Nicosia. 1 st February FROM THE MAGIC MUSHROOM TO PARSLEY By Athina Antoniadou The last 12 years living in Berlin, the capital of the arts, as many would call it, I watched art assume a role as a desirable lifestyle and ignore the fundamental responsibility we have as artists to counteract the negative energies of our time. War, the distraction of the earth, greed, hunger, competition, manipulation and lies have forced us to become more selfish, more materialistic and more closed in our little "enjoyable" lives. By 2007, I was as angry with all these as Jonathan Jones was, when in 2009 he wrote an article in the Guardian, called " How Art destroyed our culture".( although "culture" is a word or a concept, in my opinion, that needs to be discussed further.) He called art the "enemy of truth and the murderer of decency". By then I had already been to Peru 2-3 times, and hanging out with shamans in the amazons for months, and climbing mountains with them for days. This experience changed forever the way I see our world and us in it. Through this experience I saw that each one of us, is like a cell in an organism, this organism we call, the earth, we are all connected with this earth consciousness, this cosmic consciousness...the stars, the trees, the plants, animals, each other... There are powerful moments in life which present opportunities to make progress. Everything is in a state of flux, ready to establish a new direction, either towards improvement or towards stagnation. I believe that we are, now, in such a moment, where we are starting to understand how immature we have been with our technology, systems and institutions like politics, banking, education, religion, even history is being put under suspicion, also, our relationship with each other, with life, mother earth...animals...and what have you! Who are we...? Where do we come from...? where are we going...?what are we doing here...? These questions that have been asked, time and time again, by people all over the earth, through the ages...these questions are the key. But, how far did we get in answering them and how spread or important are these "wonderings" among the human race? With the intention in finding out what my responsibilities are, as an artist, as a human on this planet, I needed to put history in perspective. I believe, now, more than ever, that there is the "wonder" of countless questions coming at us from all sides. Answering these questions needs a coming together, a team up of energies that can redefine our existence.
2 nd February By Costas Costantinides We live in an era of clever stupidity, apathetic caring, volunteer slavery, studied ignorance and democratic tyranny. We re-create these oxymorons everyday in every way. We can all live in a paradise of justice, equity and dignity if we are willing to exit the circus of the absurd refusing to be the spectators that keep the circus viable. The presentation and discussion, Cyprus and the Zeitgeist, will analyze a combination of possible explanations (and resolutions) for our sorry state of affairs from a synthesis of viewpoints; historic, social-psychological, politic0-philosophical and mythological. About the presenter: Costa Constantinides has undergraduate degrees in political science and philosophy and a graduate degree in systems theory (psychology). Είναι πράγµατι "ναρκωτικά" αυτές οι ουσίες; Προκαλούν εξάρτηση; Προκαλούν ζηµιές στην υγεία µας; - Η δια νόµου απαγόρευση των Ψυχοδηλωτικών είναι παράνοµη και αντισυνταγµατική. Το Σύνταγµα της Κύπρου προσφέρει αρκετές προστασίες για την χρήση των Ψυχοδηλωτικών: α. Συνταγµατικό Άρθρο 7: Δικαίωµα στη ζωή και σωµατική ακεραιότητα. β. Συνταγµατικό Άρθρο 18: Ισότητα για όλους ενώπιον του νόµου. γ. Συνταγµατικό Άρθρο 28: Δικαίωµα ελευθερίας σκέψεως, συνειδήσεως και θρησκείας - η χρήση φυσικής ή ηθικής βίας για να εξαναγκασθεί το άτοµο να µεταβάλει την θρησκείαν του ή να εµποδισθεί να την µεταβάλει, απαγορεύεται. ο- Ναι στην Νοµιµοποίηση, ή έστω σαν πρώτα βήµατα στην Αποποινικοποίηση ή/και πρόσβαση στις ουσίες µε ιατρική συνταγή. ο- Εκπαίδευση της νεολαίας σε ασφαλείς και άνετους τρόπους Ψυχοναυτικής ΣΤΟ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ.

Για να προστατέψουµε τη χώρα µας, να διασώσουµε την παρουσία των παιδιών µας σε αυτόν τον τόπο και για να προστατέψουµε τη Δηµοκρατία, χρειάζεται να ενηµερωθούµε και να καταλάβουµε τα παιχνίδια που παίζονται εις βάρος µας και εις βάρος άλλων λαών της Ευρώπης (Ελλάδα κλπ). 7 th February ΣΤΈΛΛΑ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΊΔΟΥ, ΑΡΧΙΤΈΚΤΟΝΑΣ ΤΊΤΛΟΣ: Ο ΡΌΛΟΣ ΤΗΣ ΑΡΧΙΤΕΚΤΟΝΙΚΉΣ ΚΑΙ Η ΕΠΑΝΆΣΤΑΣΗ ΤΟΥ 21ΟΥ ΑΙΏΝΑ Μέσα απο επιλεγµένα ιστορικά παραδείγµατα θα γίνει µια σύντοµη κριτική θεώρηση της εξέλιξης της πόλης ανάλογα µε την εκάστοτε κυρίαρχη σκέψη. Θα σχολιαστεί η διαµόρφωση του σύγχρονου αστικού τοπίου και ο έλεγχος του ατόµου συνεπεία ενός παγκοσµιοποιηµένου καπιταλισµού σε σχέση µε την παγκόσµια κρίση στην οικονοµία και στα ήθη. Στόχος της παρουσίασης είναι να τεθούν προβληµατισµοί και να ξεκινήσει µια συζήτηση σχεικά µε το ρόλο των αρχιτεκτόνων και των ενεργών πολιτών στη διαµόρφωση αντιστάσεων αλλά και νέων ιδεολογικών προσεγγίσεων. 8 th February Art Cares By Costas Mantzalos An illustrated presentation about Art and Design education, which has been juxtaposed with socio-political issues, and which in return has provided a new dimension into the teaching and learning process; allowing not only the instruction of visual aesthetics but also the promotion of social, political and cultural understanding. This has been a great effort in achieving a better understanding against forms of ethnic, social and gender racism. 8 th February The social practice of Art- Presentation by Evi Tselika (University of Nicosia) Increasingly debated, the social practice of the arts is a methodology of work where practitioners aim to simulate situations were critical debate over socio political conditions is encouraged and multiple audiences invited to participate. Since the 1960s when new forms of interdisciplinary
hybrid social art practices emerged with the emphasis shifting to highlight the process and not the product; the practice and discourses of art committed to cultural and social development have become increasingly institutionalized. Largely aided by the art fair/ biennale culture and the ability of global dissemination of localized projects through the web, artists increasing activity in producing situations in order to simulate inter communal contact, critical thought and challenging socio political conditions through their work has firmly established this multi- faceted practice in the arts system, arts market and arts educational structures.
