YEAR 7 MODERN GREEK EXCURSION On Thursday, 14 November, Year 7 travelled as a group along with our Year Adviser, Ms Prevezanos. We ere also fortunate enough to have with us Ms Papastamatis and Ms Rennie. When we arrived at the Nicholson Museum at the University of Sydney, we were greeted by our welcoming tour guide Alix who explained the importance of History and Archaeology. Alix took us on a tour around a few sections of the Nicholson Museum like the Lego Acropolis, one of our favourite parts of the tour. We even got to hold canopic jars where Ancient Egyptians stored internal organs. Our tour guide Alix took us to see real life mummies. It was funny seeing the boys being frightened as they thought the mummies could possibly come to life. They watch too many movies! However, as it came to the end of the tour, everyone started to get hungry thinking about our next stop at the Greek Athenian Restaurant in the city. As we walked in, it was a bit awkward seeing business men in their suits, nicely dressed and well mannered. Immediately, we were served amazing Greek food. The service was great and the Greek waiters were very friendly We thank Ms Prevezanos for planning this trip for us. We have created many memories and have bonded as a year group. We can t wait for future excursions and camps! Renee Kagiassis and Elisa Georgiou Year 7 Intermediate Modern Greek Pg. 04

YEAR 11 RETREAT In Term 4, Year 11 students attended a four day spiritual retreat to Queensland. After arriving on the Gold Coast by aeroplane, Year 11 spent their first day at Surfers Paradise Beach. Despite the windy weather, students enjoyed their shared experience swimming in the water or playing soccer. Students then arrived at their accommodation at the Queensland Conference and Camping Centre in Tamborine Mountain. That evening, Father Peter conducted an inspirational seminar. Year eleven were reminded that God is in each and every one of us and that God will love us no matter what. This encouraged them to set a goal of performing a good deed to a stranger in need. The following day, Year eleven rejoiced at Wet n Wild. Students created many funny memories on the various rides and slides such as Tornado, Aqua Loop and Kamikaze. After dinner, some students decided to dress up for the dance night as Alan and Mr Chow from Hangover, Kenny from South Park and a ninja. Also, teachers organised a friendship hour where the students paired up with someone they don t usually talk to. Everyone came to the realisation that even though we may not hang out with all our peers, we all get along. On Thursday, another memorable day was spent at the fun park, Dreamworld. Students partook in heart pumping scream rides such as the Giant Drop, the Tower of Terror and Buzzsaw, whilst others visited the Big Brother house and took pictures with characters from Madagascar, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda. During the evening, everyone engaged in four discussion groups where they gained a better understanding about themselves and their peers, hence forming closer connections with each other. On the last day, students attended the beautiful Greek Orthodox church of Saint Anna. Year 11 was met with a warm welcome and great hospitality. Following church, students travelled to Movie World where they were greeted by Batman, Marilyn Monroe, Fred and Scooby Doo and Austin Powers. They shared their fears, excitement and happiness on adventure rides such as Superman Escape, Green Lantern rollercoaster, and Wild West ride. By the end of the trip, students gained spiritual fulfillment and developed a bond with all their peers. On behalf of Year 11, I would like to thank Ms Papastamatis for her hard work and effort in organising the retreat, as well as Father Peter, Ms Omeros and Mr Theodoulou for sharing our unforgettable experience.
