Um sich mit diesem Gerät vertraut zu machen und dessen technische Möglichkeiten kennenzulernen, lesen Sie diese Anleitung bitte sorgfältig, bevor Sie das Gerät in Betrieb nehmen. Vorsichtsmaßnahmen Versuchen Sie niemals normale Alkali-Batterien zu benutzen und aufzuladen, da diese nicht nur das Gerät beschädigen, sondern auch explodieren und evtl. sogar Verletzungen hervorrufen können. Wenn sie Nickel-Metallhydrid (Ni-MH)-Akkus mit dem mitgelieferten Steckerlader oder der Ladeschale aufladen, verwenden Sie nur von uns gelieferte oder von uns zugelassene NiMH-Akkus. Das Laden von Akkus anderer Hersteller und Marken mit unserem Ladegerät ist nicht ratsam, da die Akkuladezeiten von Marke zu Marke unterschiedlich sein können Setzen Sie das Tectalk Smart XL PMR Funkgerät nicht längere Zeit direkter Sonneneinstrahlung aus und vermeiden Sie Temperaturen unter 20 C und über 60 C. Halten Sie einen Abstand von mindestens 2,5 cm zwischen der Antenne und Ihrem Körper ein. Benutzen Sie das Tectalk Smart XL nicht, wenn die Antenne beschädigt ist. Bei Nichtnutzung stecken Sie die Gummiabdeckungen auf die Buchsen. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die mitgelieferten Mikrofon-Hörerkombinationen nicht zur Motorrad-Kommunikation geeignet sind. Bitte benutzen Sie für Motorräder Sie nur die Albrecht Motorrad-Mikrofon-Hörersets BHS 301 N / CHS 300 oder OHS500. Stromversorgung des Funkgeräts Das Tectalk Smart XL PMR 446 Funkgerät wird mit vier AAA NIMH-Akkus betrieben. Nicht aufladbare Alkali-Batterien sollten nicht benutzt werden, da Alkali-Batterien während der Betriebszeit die maximale Ausgangsleistung nicht über längere Zeit konstant halten. Die Ladezeit beträgt ca. 12-15 Stunden. Beide Funkgeräte können gleichzeitig über die mitgelieferte Ladeschale aufladen werden. Es kann auch ein Funkgerät durch Einstecken des Ladekabels in die Laden / Headsetbuchse aufgeladen werden. Einsetzen der Batterien Das Einsetzen der Batterien ist einfacher, wenn der Gürtelclip entweder nach links oder rechts in horizontale Lage gedreht, bzw. entfernt wurde. Drehen Sie einfach den Gürtelclip aus jeder Richtung in die horizontale Lage. Drehen Sie den Gürtelclip nicht mit Gewalt. Um ihn zu entfernen, drücken Sie die Federhalterung herunter und ziehen Sie den Gürtelclip gerade aus dem Gerät. Gürtelclip Batteriefach- Deckel Deckel-Markierung Plus-Markierungen 1. Drücken Sie auf den Pfeil am Batteriefachdeckel und schieben den 5

Deckel nach unten heraus. 2. Heben Sie anschließend zum Öffnen den Batteriefachdeckel auf der Unterseite an. Entfernen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel. 3. Legen Sie vier AAA NiMH-Akkus unter Beachtung der Polarität ein (Beginnen Sie auf der linken Seite mit dem positiven (+) Pol nach oben und wechseln Sie die Polarität wie dargestellt ab). Rückansicht Gürtelclip Batteriefachdeckel Batterieladekontakte Power (Ein/Aus)-Taste Halten Sie die POWER (Ein/Aus)-Taste ca. 2 Sek. lang gedrückt. Eine Melodie ertönt als Zeichen, dass das Gerät nun betriebsbereit ist. Um das Gerät auszuschalten, halten Sie die POWER-Taste erneut ca. 2 Sek. gedrückt. Monitor/Display-Hintergrundbeleuchtung-Taste Mit dieser Taste wird vor dem Senden die Aktivität auf der aktuellen Frequenz überprüft. Drücken Sie zum Überprüfen der Aktivität die Taste Monitor (M) länger als 1 Sekunde. Auf dem Display wird das Symbol ( ) angezeigt und Sie können hören, ob die Frequenz frei ist. Nicht 8

senden, wenn Sie ein Gespräch hören. Halten Sie die Monitor-Taste erneut länger als 1 Sekunde gedrückt und das Symbol ( ) auf dem Display erlischt. Diese Funktion ist auch bei der Kommunikation mit anderen Partnern bei extremen Entfernungen nützlich. Durch kurzes Drücken der Monitor-Taste wird die LCD-Hintergrundbeleuchtung eingeschaltet. Die LCD-Hintergrundbeleuchtung schaltet sich nach ca. 5 Sekunden automatisch aus, außer die Monitor-Taste noch einmal kurz gedrückt. Sendetaste (PTT) Solange Sie diese Taste gedrückt halten, können Sie zu allen anderen Funkgeräten sprechen, die auf den gleichen Kanal und CTCSS-Code eingestellt sind wie Ihr Gerät. Halten Sie das Funkgerät ungefähr 5-6 cm von Ihrem Mund entfernt und sprechen Sie mit normaler Lautstärke in das Mikrofon. Nachdem Sie mit dem Sprechen fertig sind, lassen Sie die PTT-Taste los, damit Sie empfangsbereit sind. Immer wenn die PTT-Taste gedrückt wird, leuchtet das Sendesymbol ( ) auf. Wenn ein Signal empfangen wird, leuchtet das Beschäftigt (BUSY)-Symbol auf. Die PTT-Taste kann auch zum Senden von Ruftönen verwendet werden. Durch zweimaliges, schnelles Drücken der PTT-Taste kann einen anderer Gesprächspartner auf dem gleichen Kanal gerufen werden. Aufwärts-Taste Drücken der Aufwärts-Taste im Standby-Modus erhöht die Lautstärke. Die aktuelle Lautstärke wird auf dem Display angezeigt (Ziffern 1-7). Im Einstellmodus können mit dieser Taste die Einstellungen des Funkgeräts angepasst werden. Abwärts-Taste Im Standby-Modus verringert die Abwärts-Taste die Lautstärke. Im Einstellmodus können mit dieser Taste die Einstellungen des Funkgeräts angepasst werden. 9

Betriebsarten und Features PMR-Betrieb Halten Sie zum Einschalten die POWER (Ein/Aus)-Taste für ca. 2 Sek. lang gedrückt. Drücken Sie die MODE (Modus)-Taste einmal, die Kanalnummer fängt an zu blinken. Wählen Sie mit der Aufwärts- und Abwärts-Taste die gewünschte Kanalnummer. Das Beschäftigt-Symbol (BUSY) zeigt einen eingehenden Anruf an. Zum Senden halten Sie die PTT-Taste gedrückt und sprechen Sie klar und mit normaler Lautstärke in das Mikrofon. Das Sendesymbol ( ) erscheint auf dem Display, solange die PTT-Taste gedrückt wird. Wenn die Ansage beendet ist, lassen Sie die PTT-Taste wieder los, damit Sie empfangsbereit sind. Eine Funkverbindung ist nur möglich, wenn mindestens zwei Funkgeräte auf den gleichen Kanal und den gleichen CTCSS-Code eingestellt sind. Der CTCSS-Code (01-38) wird im LCD-Display angezeigt, wenn dieser vorher eingestellt wurde. Wenn nicht, wird of angezeigt. Kanalwahl Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus einmal die MODE (Modus)-Taste. Die Kanalnummer fängt an zu blinken. Gehen Sie durch kurzes Drücken der Aufwärts- oder Abwärts-Taste zur gewünschten Kanalnummer. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl durch kurzes Antippen der PTT-Taste. 10

Einstellung eines CTCSS-Codes Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus zweimal die MODE (Modus)-Taste. Entweder Sie sehen jetzt of blinken oder eine Code-Nummer wird angezeigt. Wählen Sie mit der Aufwärts- oder Abwärts-Taste den gewünschten Code (01-38) aus. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl durch Antippen der PTT-Taste. Der CTCSS-Modus wird deaktiviert, indem of gewählt wird. HINWEIS: Um mit anderen PMR-Funkgeräten kommunizieren zu können, müssen alle in Ihrem Netzwerk beteiligten Geräte auf den gleichen Kanal und den gleichen CTCSS-Code eingestellt werden. Um mit anderen PMR-Funkgeräten kommunizieren zu können, die keine CTCSS-Codierung verwenden, müssen alle in Ihrem Funknetz beteiligten Geräte auf den gleichen Kanal und der CTCSS-Code auf of eingestellt werden. Ein CTCSS-Code verhindert nicht, dass andere Ihre Gespräche mithören können. Er ermöglicht lediglich, dass Sie andere störende Gespräche auf dem gleichen Kanal nicht ständig mithören müssen, der nicht den gleichen CTCSS-Code verwendet. Automatische Sprachsteuerung (VOX-Modus) Sobald das eingebaute Mikrofon oder ein externes Mikrofon/Headset ein Tonsignal erkennt, startet das Funkgerät automatisch die Übertragung, ohne dass die PTT-Taste gedrückt werden muss. Hinweis: Nicht alle, auf dem Markt erhältlichen, externen Mikrofone/Headsets sind für die Benutzung der VOX-Sprachsteuerung, sowie PTT geeignet! Einstellen der VOX Funktion: Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus dreimal die MODE (Modus)-Taste, bis das VOX-Symbol mit on oder of erscheint. Wählen Sie mit der Aufwärts- oder Abwärts-Taste die gewünschte Einstellung VOX on oder of. 11

Bei aktivierter VOX-Funktion erscheint das VOX-Symbol (vox) auf dem Display. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl durch kurzes Antippen der PTT-Taste. Mikrofonverstärkung Erhöhen oder Verringern der Empfindlichkeit des internen Mikrofons (z.b. für die Verwendung beim Motorradfahren (niedrig) oder zu Hause (hoch)): Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus viermal die MODE (Modus)-Taste. Das Mikrofonverstärkungssymbol (MIC-H) leuchtet mit (Hi) (hoch) oder (Lo) (niedrig) auf. Wählen Sie mit der Aufwärts- oder Abwärts-Taste die Option Hi (hoch) oder Lo (niedrig). Wenn Hi (hoch) ausgewählt wurde, leuchtet das Mikrofonverstärkungssymbol (MIC-H) auf. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl durch kurzes Antippen der PTT-Taste. Tastenton Bei dieser Einstellung dieser Funktion gibt das Funkgerät bei Drücken der folgenden Tasten einen Bestätigungston aus: Power (Ein/Aus)/Scan, Aufwärts/Abwärts und MODE (Modus). Die Funktion ist immer aktiviert. Rufton Das Funkgerät sendet einen Klingelton zu anderen Funkgeräten, um anzuzeigen, dass das Gerät gerufen wird. Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus die PTT-Taste zweimal schnell hintereinander, um den Klingelton zu senden. Tastensperre Die Tastensperre verhindert ein versehentliches Ändern von Einstellungen des Funkgeräts. Bei aktivierter Tastensperre 12

funktionieren nur die Tasten POWER (Ein/Aus), PTT und Lautstärke Aufwärts/Abwärts. Tastensperre aktivieren/deaktivieren: Halten Sie im Standby-Modus die Taste MODE ca. 2 Sek. lang gedrückt, bis das Tastensperre-Symbol ( ) auf dem Display angezeigt wird. Um die Tastensperre wieder zu deaktivieren, halten Sie MODE erneut ca. 2 Sek. lang gedrückt. Das Symbol ( ) erlischt. Kanalsuchlauf Mit dieser Funktion können Sie das Gerät automatisch alle Kanäle nach gültigen Signalen durchsuchen lassen. Während des Suchlaufs können Sie Senden und Empfangen. Wenn ein Signal empfangen wird, wird der Suchlauf zum Mithören unterbrochen und nach ca. 5 Sek. fortgesetzt. Hinweis: Während des Suchlaufs (SCAN) ist die MODE-Taste deaktiviert. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Batteriebetriebsdauer verringert wird, da die Energiesparfunktion beim Suchlauf (SCAN) nicht eingeschaltet werden kann. Einschalten des Kanalsuchlaufs: Drücken Sie im Standby-Modus kurz die Taste Power (Ein/Aus). Das SCAN-Symbol wird auf dem Display angezeigt. Das Funkgerät zeigt automatisch alle durchsuchten Kanäle (1-8) in aufsteigender Reihenfolge auf dem Display an, bis ein aktiver Kanal gefunden wird. Wenn das Gerät keine Signale findet und Sie möchten senden, drücken Sie die PTT-Taste, um zum ersten Kanal zurückzukehren. 13

Nachdem das Gespräch beendet wurde, setzt das Funkgerät den Suchlauf automatisch nach ca. 15 Sekunden fort. Wenn kein aktiver Kanal gefunden wurde und Sie möchten den Suchlauf beenden, drücken Sie kurz die Taste Power (Ein/Aus) und das Gerät kehrt in den normalen Gesprächsmodus zurück. Auf dem LCD-Display erlischt das SCAN-Symbol (scan). Batterieanzeige Wenn das Batteriesymbol ( )auf dem LCD-Display blinkt, müssen die NiMH-Akkus geladen werden, bzw. ausgetauscht werden. Hintergrundbeleuchtung Die LCD-Hintergrundbeleuchtung schaltet sich automatisch ein, sobald eine Taste betätigt wird und schaltet sich nach ca. 5 Sek. automatisch wieder aus. Regeln für gute Funkgespräche Die Funkkanäle des Tectalk Smart XL werden abwechselnd genutzt. Dies bedeutet, dass andere Teilnehmer auf einigen Kanälen sprechen. Es ist üblich, zu einem anderen Kanal zu wechseln und nicht das Gespräch auf dem schon besetzten Kanal zu stören. Das Funkgerät wurde für eine verbesserte Leistung und größtmögliche Reichweite konzipiert. Um Rückkopplungen zu vermeiden, halten Sie den Abstand zwischen zwei Geräten daher stets bei mindestens 2 Metern. Um die Batterielebensdauer zu erhöhen, sollten Sie die Suchlauf-Funktion nur selten nutzen. Dies verlängert die Nutzungsdauer erheblich. 14

Warnhinweise Wenn Sie das Funkgerät für längere Zeit nicht benutzen, nehmen Sie die Akkus heraus. Sie verhindern damit, dass die Akkus auslaufen könnten und so zu Korrosionen im Gerät führen. Das Funkgerät nicht mit Wasser in Berührung bringen und nicht extremen Temperaturen aussetzen. Benutzen Sie das Funkgerät nicht in der Nähe von Bergbau- oder Fabrikanlagen, in denen Explosionsstoffe durch Fernsteuerung gezündet werden oder in Bereichen, die mit dem Hinweis Sprengbereich oder Explosionsgeschützt versehen sind. Modifizieren Sie nicht die Ausgangsleistung des Funkgerätes. Die Original-Ausgangsleistung entspricht den gesetzlichen Bestimmungen. Das Gerät explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen ausschalten und dort auch die Akkus nicht aufladen. Schalten Sie das Gerät überall da, wo die Nutzung von Funkgeräten oder Handys verboten ist, ebenfalls aus. In Krankenhäusern kann eine evtl. Beeinflussung von empfindlichen medizinischen Geräten nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Aus diesem Grund erlauben die meisten Krankenhäuser nicht die Nutzung von privaten Funkgeräten! Schalten Sie Ihr Gerät an Bord eines Flugzeugs aus, wenn sie darum gebeten werden. Legen Sie das Funkgerät in einem Fahrzeug nicht vor den Airbag. Es könnte bei Auslösen des Airbags explosionsartig nach vorn geschleudert werden und Verletzungen verursachen. Störungserkennung Wenn bei Ihrem Tectalk Smart XL Probleme auftreten, führen Sie ein Reset durch, indem Sie es ausschalten und die Akkus für einige Sekunden herausnehmen. Danach setzen Sie die Batterien wieder ein und schalten das Gerät erneut ein. Prüfen Sie, ob die Akkus noch genug 15

Energie haben. Es kann vorkommen, dass schwache Akkus Probleme verursachen, z.b. dass Senden nicht mehr möglich ist, eine schwaches Empfangssignal und eine niedrige Lautstärke. To ensure you are familiar with the operation and features of your radio and in order to obtain the best performance, please read this manual carefully before operation. Safety Warning Never attempt to use or charge alkaline or dry cell batteries, as batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage to the product. When recharging Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries with the supplied Albrecht-charger or wall adapter, use only the supplied or Albrecht-approved rechargeable NiMH batteries. Use of the Albrecht-charger with other brands of accumulators is not recommended, as accumulator charging times will vary with different brands. Avoid placing the Tectalk Smart XL PMR transceiver for prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight or temperatures below 20 C or above 60 C. Keep the antenna at least 2,5cm away from your head and body. Do not use your Tectalk Smart XL with a damaged antenna. Place the rubber covers on the jacks when not in use. Powering the transceiver Your Tectalk Smart XL PMR 446 transceiver operates on four AAA size rechargeable NIMH batteries. Non-Rechargeable Alkaline batteries shall not be used because Alkaline batteries do not meet the requirements for keeping the maximum output power more stable for the whole operating time. The charging time is typically 12-15 hours. You can charge one or both radios at the same time with the supplied desk charging cradle. It is also possible to charge one radio by inserting the charge cable into the Charge / Headset socket. Installation of the batteries Battery installation is made more convenient when the belt clip is either rotated left or right to the horizontal position or is removed. Simply rotate the clip in either direction to the horizontal position. Be careful not to use excessive force. To remove the clip press down on the spring release tab and pull the clip straight out from the radio body. Belt Clip Battery Cover Cover Arrow Positive Terminals 1. Power on/off Button Press and hold the POWER on/off button for at least 2 seconds. You will hear a confirming melody to indicate the unit is on. To turn the unit off press and hold the button for at least 2 seconds. Monitor/Display Backlight Button This button is used to check activity on the current frequency before transmitting. Check activity by pressing the Monitor (M) Button longer than 1 second; the icon ( ) will appear on the display and you will hear static if the frequency is clear. Do not transmit if you hear a conversation. Hold down the Monitor Button again longer than 1 second and the icon ( ) will disappear from the display. This feature is also useful when communicating with other parties at extreme range. By pressing the Monitor Button momentarily the LCD backlight is turned on. The LCD backlight will be turned off automatically in about 5 seconds unless the Monitor Button is pressed momentarily once again. Push-To-Talk (PTT) Button Pressing and holding this button will allow you to speak to any transceiver that is set to the same channel and privacy code setting as yours. Hold the transceiver approximately 5-6 cm from your mouth as you speak into the built in microphone. After you have finished speaking, release the PTT Button to allow reception of incoming signals. Whenever the button is pressed the transmit icon ( ) will appear. When receiving an incoming signal the Busy (BUSY) icon will appear. The PTT button can also be used as a two-way call ringer. Pressing the button twice quickly will call another party on the same channel. Up Button In the standby mode pressing this button will increase the listening volume. The current volume is indicated (1-7). When in function edit mode this button will be used to adjust 7

the unit's settings. Down Button In the standby mode pressing this button will decrease the listening volume. When in function edit mode this button will be used to adjust the unit's settings. Operating Modes and Features PMR Operation Press and hold the POWER On/Off button for 2 seconds to turn on power. Press the MODE button so the channel number flashes. Select the desired channel with the Up and Down Buttons. The Busy icon (BUSY) appears to indicate an incoming call. Press and hold the PTT button to transmit, then speak into the microphone clearly and slowly. The transmit icon ( ) appears on the display while the button is pressed. Release PTT button to receive. Communication can only be accomplished when the channel and CTCSS tone frequency of at least two parties are the same. The CTCSS sub-channel (01-38) will be displayed on the LCD panel if the CTCSS tone frequency function is enabled (not of). Channel Selection From standby mode, press the MODE button once; the channel number flashes. Press the Up or down button briefly to move to the desired channel number. Press the PTT button momentarily to confirm selection. 8

CTCSS Mode (Sub-Channel) Selection From standby mode press the MODE Button twice; a flashing of or sub-channel number is displayed. Press the Up or Down button to select the desired sub-channel for use (01-38). Press the PTT button to confirm selection. The CTCSS mode can be turned off by selecting of as the setting. NOTE: To communicate with other PMR radios all radios in your network must be switched to the same channel and CTCSS subcode. To communicate with other PMR units that do not have subcodes, switch your unit to the same channel with the subcode set to of. The CTCSS subcodes do not prevent others from hearing your transmissions. This will only allow you to ignore all traffic on a given channel not using the same subcode. VOX Mode Selection When your voice or signal is detected using the internal or external microphone/headset the radio transmits automatically without the need to press the PTT button. Note: Not all available external microphone/headsets on the market are designed to be used under VOX control and PTT as well! To enable the VOX operation: From standby mode press the MODE button 3 times until the VOX icon (vox) appears with on or of. Press the Up or Down button to select the VOX on or of as desired. When enabled the VOX icon (vox) appears. Press the PTT button momentarily to confirm selection. 9

Microphone Gain Selection When you like to increase or reduce your voice sensitivity through the internal microphone (e.g. for motor bike (Lo) or home (Hi) use): From standby mode press the MODE button 4 times; the flashing of microphone gain (MIC-H) appears with high (Hi) or low (Lo). Press the Up or Down button to select Hi or Lo. When the Hi is selected the microphone gain icon (MIC-H) appears. Press the PTT button momentarily to confirm the selection. Button Beep (keytone) This feature allows the transceiver to sound a confirmation tone whenever the following keys are pressed: Power On/Off/Scan Button, Up/Down Buttons and MODE Button. This feature is always on. Call Ringer The transceiver provides a transmit call ring melody to alert other users of an incoming call. From standby mode pressing the PTT button twice in quick succession will transmit the call ringer melody. Keypad Lock The lock function is to avoid the accidental changes of radio settings. Only POWER On/Off, the PTT and Volume Up/Down buttons will operate while lock function is enabled. To set the keypad lock operation: From standby mode press and hold the MODE button for 2 seconds or until the lock icon ( ) appears on the display. To disable the lock operation press and hold the MODE button for at least 2 seconds; the lock icon ( ) will disappear 10

Channel Scan Operation This feature allows you to monitor all channels automatically for valid signals. While scanning you can transmit and receive. When a signal is received, the scan is interrupted and will return to scan mode approximately 5 seconds after the reception is terminated. Note: while the SCAN mode is active, the MODE button is disabled. Please note that the SCAN mode will reduce the overall battery life since the battery save function cannot be used during scanning. To enable the channel scan mode: From standby mode momentarily press the Power On/Off Button; SCAN will appear on the LCD display. The radio will automatically display each channel (1-8) in ascending order to find an active main channel. When the unit does not find any signals and you want to transmit, press PTT to return to primary channel operation. The transceiver will automatically resume scanning approximately 15 seconds after the communication is completed. If there is no activity and you want to leave the scan mode press the Power On/Off button momentarily and the unit will return to normal operation; the SCAN icon (scan) will disappear from the LCD display. Battery Alert When the low battery icon ( ) blinks steadily on the LCD panel, recharge the unit or install fresh charged NiMH batteries. Background illumination By pressing any buttons, the LCD backlight is turned on the LCD illumination will be turned off automatically in about 5 seconds after any final button is pressed. 11

Notes for good Communication Tectalk Smart XL channels are shared on a 'take turns' basis. This means other groups may be talking on any of the channels. A common code of courtesy is to switch to another vacant channel and not to attempt to talk over someone who is already using the channel you first selected. The radio has been designed to maximize performance and improve transmission range in the field. To avoid interference it is recommended that you do not use the units closer than 2 meters away from each other. To increase battery life use the SCAN feature only where necessary. This feature will reduce operating time considerably. 10. Notes for Good Communication Warning Remove the batteries from the transceiver if it is not expected to be used for long periods. This will eliminate the possibility of chemicals leaking from the batteries and corroding the transceiver. Avoid exposing the transceiver to water or extremes of temperature. Do not use this device in or near mining or factory facilities where remotely triggered explosives are used or in areas labelled "Blasting Area" or Explosion Protected. Do not attempt to modify or in any way increase the output of this transceiver. Its output is designed to meet the legal limits. Do not use this device or charge its batteries in potentially explosive atmospheres. Turn your transceiver off wherever posted notices restrict the use of radios or cellular telephones. Facilities such as hospitals may use equipment that is sensitive to RF energy. Because of this reason most hospitals do not allow the use of any private radio sets! 12

Turn your transceiver off on board of an aircraft when requested to do so. Do not place your radio in front of a vehicle's air-bag. If the air-bag deploys it could propel the transceiver like a projectile causing severe injuries. Troubleshooting If you have problems with your Tectalk Smart XL reset your unit by turning it off and removing the batteries for at least some seconds. Reinsert the batteries and turn the unit on again. Check the battery power level since in many cases low batteries cause problems such as no transmission, weak receiving signal and low sound. Lorsque vous rechargez des piles nickel métal hydride (NiMH) avec le chargeur ou l'adaptateur mural Albrecht fourni, n'utilisez que les piles fournies ou des piles NiMH rechargeables approuvées par Albrecht. L'utilisation du chargeur Albrecht avec d'autres marques d'accumulateurs n'est pas recommandée car le temps de charge varie en fonction de la marque. Evitez de placer l'émetteur-récepteur Tectalk Smart XL PMR au soleil ou à des températures inférieures à - 20 C ou supérieures à 60 C pendant de longues périodes. Gardez l'antenne à au moins 2,5cm loin de votre tête et de votre corps. N'utilisez pas votre Tectalk Smart XL avec une antenne endommagée. Couvrez chaque connecteur avec son capuchon en caoutchouc lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé. ou OHS500. Mise sous tension de l'émetteur-récepteur Votre émetteur-récepteur Tectalk Smart XL PMR 446 fonctionne avec quatre piles AAA NiMH rechargeables. Les piles alcalines non rechargeables ne doivent pas être utilisées car celles-ci ne répondent pas aux exigences de maintien d'une puissance de sortie maximale stable pour toute la durée de fonctionnement. Le temps de charge est généralement de 12 à 15 heures. Vous pouvez charger une ou deux radios en même temps au moyen de la station de recharge fournie. Il est également possible de charger une radio au moyen du câble de charge en branchant ce dernier dans le connecteur de charge/casque. Installation des piles L'installation est plus facile quand la pince de ceinture est retournée à gauche ou à droite à l'horizontale ou carrément enlevé. Il suffit de retourner la pince à l'horizontale dans l'un des sens. N'utilisez pas une force excessive. Pour retirer la pince, poussez vers le bas la languette à ressort de relâchement et retirez la pince du corps de la radio. Pince de ceinture Couvercle des piles Flèches sur le couvercle Bornes positives 1. Poussez vers le bas le couvercle des piles au niveau des flèches et faites-le glisser vers l'extérieur de la radio. 2. Une fois arrivé à l'extrémité, soulevez le couvercle pour ouvrir. 5

Touche Moniteur/rétroéclairage Cette touche est utilisée pour vérifier l'activité sur la fréquence en cours avant d'émettre. Vérifiez l'activité en appuyant sur la touche Moniteur (M) pendant plus d'une seconde; l'icône ( ) apparaît sur l'écran et vous entendez des parasites si la fréquence est libre. Ne transmettez pas si vous entendez une conversation. Maintenez enfoncée de nouveau la touche Monitor pendant plus d'une seconde pour faire disparaître l'icône 9

( ) de l'écran. Cette fonction est également utile lors de communication avec d'autres correspondants à l'extrême portée. En appuyant brièvement sur la touche Monitor le rétroéclairage du LCD est activé. Le rétroéclairage du LCD sera automatiquement désactivé au bout de 5 secondes à moins que la touche Monitor ne soit de nouveau appuyée brièvement. Touche Push-To-Talk (PTT) En maintenant cette touche appuyée, vous pouvez parler à un émetteur-récepteur qui est réglé sur le même canal et le même code que le vôtre. Tenez l'émetteur-récepteur à environ 5-6 cm de votre bouche lorsque vous parlez dans le microphone intégré. Après avoir terminé de parler, relâchez la touche PTT pour permettre la réception des signaux entrants. Chaque fois que la touche est appuyée, l'icône de transmission ( ) apparaît. Lors de la réception d'un signal entrant l'icône occupé (BUSY) apparaît. La touche PTT peut également être utilisée comme une sonnerie d'appel dans les deux sens. En appuyant rapidement deux fois sur la touche, vous appelez un autre correspondant sur le même canal. Touche vers le haut En mode veille, en appuyant sur cette touche vous augmentez le volume d'écoute. Le volume en cours est indiqué (1-7). En mode édition, cette touche sera utilisée pour modifier les réglages de l'appareil. Touche vers le bas En mode veille, en appuyant sur cette touche vous diminuez le volume d'écoute. En mode édition, cette touche sera utilisée pour modifier les réglages de l'appareil. Modes d'utilisation et de fonctionnement Utilisation PMR (Private Mobile Radio (radiocommunication mobile 10

privée) Maintenez appuyée la touche Marche/Arrêt pendant 2 secondes pour allumer l'appareil. Appuyez sur la touche MODE, le numéro du canal se met à clignoter. Sélectionnez un canal avec les touches Haut et Bas. L'icône Occupé (BUSY) apparaît pour indiquer un appel entrant. Maintenez appuyée la touche PTT pour transmettre, puis parlez dans le micro lentement et clairement. L'icône de transmission ( ) apparaît sur l'écran tant que la touche est appuyée. Relâchez la touche PTT pour recevoir. La communication ne peut être possible que si le canal et la fréquence de tonalité CTCSS d'au moins deux correspondants sont identiques. Le sous-canal CTCSS (01-38) sera affichée sur l'écran LCD si la fonction fréquence de tonalité CTCSS est activée (non of). Sélection de canal En mode veille, appuyez une fois sur la touche MODE ; le numéro de canal se met à clignoter. Appuyez brièvement sur la touche Haut ou Bas pour passer à un autre numéro de canal. Appuyez brièvement sur la touche PTT pour confirmer la sélection. Sélection du mode CTCSS (Sous-canal) En mode veille, appuyez deux fois sur la touche MODE ; of ou numéro de sous-canal se met à clignoter. Appuyez sur la touche Haut ou Bas pour sélectionner un sous-canal à utiliser (01-38). Appuyez sur la touche PTT pour confirmer la sélection. 11

Le mode CTCSS peut être désactivé en sélectionnant of comme paramètre. REMARQUE : pour communiquer avec les autres radios PMR, toutes les radios de votre réseau doivent être réglées sur le même canal et code CTCSS. Pour communiquer avec les autres radios PMR qui n'ont pas de codes, réglez votre appareil sur le même canal avec le code mis sur of. Les codes CTCSS n'empêchent pas les autres d'entendre vos transmissions. Cela ne vous permet que d'ignorer le trafic sur un canal donné n'utilisant pas le même code. Sélection du mode VOX Lorsque votre voix ou signal est détecté à l'aide du microphone interne ou externe/casque, la radio transmet automatiquement sans nécessité d'appuyer sur la touche PTT. Remarque : pas tous les micros/casques externes disponibles sur le marché ne peuvent être utilisés en mode VOX et PTT! Pour activer l'utilisation VOX : En mode veille appuyez 3 fois sur touche MODE jusqu'à ce que l'icône VOX (vox) accompagné de on ou of apparaisse. Appuyez sur la touche Haut ou Bas pour sélectionner VOX on ou of. Lorsqu'il est activé l'icône VOX (vox) apparaît. Appuyez brièvement sur la touche PTT pour confirmer la sélection. Sélection gain du microphone Lorsque vous souhaitez augmenter ou réduire la sensibilité de votre voix via le microphone interne (par exemple pour moto (Lo) ou à la maison (Hi)) : En mode veille appuyez 4 fois sur la touche MODE ; le gain du micro (MIC-H) se met à clignoter accompagné de "élevé" (Hi) ou "faible" (Lo). 12
