3 The First Antiphon (Ps. 102) Verse 1. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Verse 2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits. Verse 3. The Lord has prepared his throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all. The Second Antiphon (Ps. 145) Verse 1. Praise the Lord, O my soul: while I live I will praise the Lord; while I have any being, I will praise my God. Verse 2. Blessed are those whose helper is the God of Jacob; whose hope is in the Lord their God. Verse 3. The Lord will be king forever: your God, O Zion, will reign throughout all generations. Apolytikion of the Church in the Plagal of the Fourth Tone O Blessed are You, O Christ our God, Who by sending down the Holy Spirit upon them made the fishermen wise and through them illumined the world and to You the universe was ever drawn all glory to You O Lord. Seasonal Kontakion in the 4 th Tone Today, the most pure temple of the Savior, the precious bridal chamber and Virgin, the sacred treasure of God, enters the house of the Lord, bringing the grace of the Divine Spirit. The Angels of God praise her. She is the heavenly tabernacle. 4 THE EPISTLE / Ο ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΣ St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 2:16-20 Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm ,1 O Lord, how manifold are your works. You have made all things in wisdom. Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul. BRETHREN, you know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 5 THE HOLY GOSPEL / ΤΟ ΘΕΙΟΝ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ The Gospel of Luke 12:16-21 The Lord said this parable: "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." As he said these things, he cried out: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Κατὰ Λουκᾶν Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος τήν παραβολὴν ταύτην Ἀνθρώπου τινὸς πλουσίου εὐφόρησεν ἡ χώρα καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ἑαυτῷ λέγων τί ποιήσω, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μου; καὶ εἶπε τοῦτο ποιήσω καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω, καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα τὰ γενήματά μου καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου, καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου ψυχή, ἔχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἔτη πολλά ἀναπαύου, φάγε, πίε, εὐφραίνου. εἶπε δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Θεός ἄφρον, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ ἃ δὲ ἡτοίμασας τίνι ἔσται; οὕτως ὁ θησαυρίζων ἑαυτῷ, καὶ μὴ εἰς Θεὸν πλουτῶν.

6 Communion Protocols Who can take Communion? Only Orthodox Christians who have prepared for the Sacrament. Baptized/Chrismated in the Orthodox Church Have participated in Confession (tyically once a year) Have Prayed Daily Have Fasted Wednesday & Friday Who cannot take Communion? Orthodox Christians who have been excommunicated Committed a Grave sin that has not been confessed or repented Married outside of the Church Partaken of Sacraments outside of the Orthodox Church Living in sin engaging in behavior continuously that is spiritually or socially harmful Non Christians (Muslims/Jews/Atheists) Heterodox Christians Christians of other Faith Traditions (Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc.) Coptic Orthodox You will not be asked of any of these conditions, nor will the Clergy accept second-hand accusations. But be aware, if any of these conditions apply, you answer to the Lord. Behold, I approach for Holy Communion. O Creator, burn me not as I partake; For You are Fire, which burns the unworthy, Wherefore, do You cleanse me of every stain -From the Communion Prayers

(Starting in December) Offering an ear for pain, an outlet for frustration, an environment to share experiences and hope, the Peter K. Ladeas Cancer Support Group is a unique Orthodox Cancer Support Group that provides faithful dealing with this terrible disease to come together and support one another, offer advice and connections, and pray.
