2 NTRDUCTN This service manual describes the latest technical information for the C-M9D, C-M9D VHF MARNE TRANSCEVER, at the time of publication. CRCUT DESCRPTN 4- RECEVE CRCUTS RF CRCUT (RF UNT) The RX signal from the antenna is passed through a twostaged LPF (L8, L8, C83 C86 and C89), ANT SW (D90), and two tuned BPFs (D9, D93, L9, L93, C9, C97 C00 and C7), and then applied to the RF (Q90). The amplifi ed signal is applied to the st F circuit, through two tuned BPFs (D30, D3, L96, L97, C09, C0 and C C). RF CRCUTS ND F CRCUT (RF UNT) The st F signal from the st F circuits is applied to the F C (C70, pin 6). The F C contains the nd F mixer, nd F, detector, and so on, in its package. The st F signal is mixed with the. MHz nd L signal from the reference frequency oscillator (TCX: X), resulting in a 40 khz nd F signal. The nd F signal is passed through the nd F fi lter (F70) to remove sideband noise. The fi ltered signal is amplifi ed by the nd F, and demodulated by the quadrature detector with discriminator (X70). The demodulated AF signal is applied to the RX AF circuits on the MAN UNT. The st F signal is fi ltered by the st F fi lters (F0 and F), and then applied to the st F (Q). The amplifi ed signal is applied to the nd F circuits. ST F CRCUTS To the F C Q RF UNT F F0 F.7MHz BPF st L signal from the VC Q0 From RF X70 40KHz C70 RX AF CRCUT (MAN UNT) The demodulated AF signal from the F C (RF UNT: C70) is amplifi ed by the AF (C363A), and then applied to the noise canceller C (C38, pin 36), through the AF SW (C380, pins 7, ). The processed AF signal is passed through the AF mute SW (C60D, pins, 0), LPF (C363C, pins 9, 8) and de-emphasis circuit (R79 and C66), and then applied to the D/A converter (C90, pin ) to adjust the level. The level-adjusted AF signal is amplifi ed by the AF (C36), and then output to the internal speaker (CHASSS: SP). When an external speaker is connected, the AF signal from the D/A converter (C90, pin ) is amplifi ed by the AF (C36), and then output to the external speaker, through J90. 10 4- TRANSMT CRCUTS TX AF CRCUT (MAN UNT) The AF signal from the internal microphone (MC0) is passed through the MC mute SW (C60A, pins, ), and then applied to the MC (C00B, pin 6). The MC signal from the external microphone is directory applied to the MC (C00B, pin 6), through J90. The amplifi ed AF signal is passed through the AF SW (C380, pins 6, ) and applied to the noise canceller C (C38, pin 36). The processed AF signal is passed through the AF mute SW (C60C, pins 8, 9), and then applied to the D/A converter (C90, pin 3) to adjust the level. The level-adjusted AF signal is passed through the pre-emphasis circuit (R0, C38), and then amplifi ed by the limiter (C00A) which limits the amplitude of AF signal to prevent over deviation. The amplitude-limited signal is passed through the LPF (C00D, pins, 4), and then applied to the modulation circuits on the RF UNT. TX AF CRCUTS Ext.MC TX CRCUT (MAN UNT) The TX signal is sequentially amplifi ed by the buffer (Q0), YGR (Q3) and power (Q4) s, and then passed through two LPFs (L7, C70, C7 and L80, C8, C8), TX output power detector (D9), ANT SW (D), and a two stage LPF (L8, L8, C83 C86 and C89), before being sent to the antenna. APC CRCUT (MAN UNT) The voltage produced at two LPFs (L7, C70, C7 and L80, C8, C8) is rectifi ed by D9, and is used as the TX power sensing voltage. The voltage is applied to the APC (C0, pin 3), and the output voltage controls the gain of the pre-driver (Q3) and power (Q4) s, to keep the TX output power constant. The modulated VC output signal is passed through the buffers (Q3 and Q4), and then applied to the TX circuits as a TX signal, through the L SW (D0). 11 4-3 FREQUENCY SYNTHESZER (MAN UNT) VC The VC (Q, Q, and D0 D) generates both the st L signal and the TX signal. The generated signal is amplifi ed by buffers (Q3 and Q4), and then used as the TX or RX L signal. n receive, the L signal is applied to the st F mixer (Q0), through the L SW (D) and BPF (L6 and C). n transmit, the L signal is applied to the TX circuits, through the L SW (D0). PLL A portion of the VC output signal is passed through two buffers (Q3 and Q), and then fed back to the PLL C (C, pin 6), through the LPF (L0, C and C). The PLL C (C) phase compares the outputs of the reference frequency oscillator (TCX; X) and VC, and the phase difference is output as the charge pump current. The current is passed though the loop fi lter (R0, R, C, C3, C8 and C4) to be converted into the lock voltage, which controls the oscillating frequency of VC. When the oscillation frequency drifts, its phase changes from that of the reference frequency, causing a lock voltage change to compensate for the drift in the VC oscillating frequency.
