2 NTRDUCTN This service manual describes the latest technical information for the C-M and C-M VHF MARNE TRANSCEVER, at the time of publication. CRCUT DESCRPTN - RECEVER CRCUTS RF CRCUTS The RF circuits consist of RF filters, antenna switch (ANT SW), RF amplifi er (RF AMP), etc., and extract and amplify the signal of frequency which is desired to receive. ANTENNA SWTCHNG CRCUT The RF signal from the antenna is passed through the LPF (L8, L8, C8 C8, C89) and antenna SW (D, D90, L90, C90, C9), and then applied to the RF AMP (Q90) through the -staged tuned BPF (D9, D9, L9, L9, C9, C97 C00, C7). RF AMPLFER The filtered RX signal is amplified by the RF AMP (Q90) and passed through another -staged BPF (D0, D, L9, L97, L0, L L) to remove unwanted signals. The filtered signal is applied to the st mixer (Q0). RF CRCUTS ANTENNA ND F AND DEMDULATR CRCUTS C70 is an F demodulate C which contains the nd local oscillator, nd mixer, limiter and quadrature detector in its package. The. MHz reference frequency signal from the PLL C (C, pin ) is applied to the F demodulate C (C70, pin ) as the nd L signal, and then mixed with.7 MHz st F signal from the st AMP (Q). The resulting signal of 0 khz nd F signal is output from the pin of C70. The nd F signal is filtered by the external ceramic filter (F70) to extract 0 khz signal only, and then applied to the internal quadrature detector to be frequencydemodulated. The demodulated AF signals are output from the pin 9. The quadrature detector is a frequency demodulator which uses a discriminator (X70) as a phase delayer, and provides demodulation without any adjustment. ST F CRCUTS TCN ST F, ND F AND DEMDULATR CRCUTS ST F CRCUTS The RX signal is mixed with st L signal at the st mixer (Q0), resulting in the.7 MHz st F signal. The converted st F signal is filtered by the crystal filters (F0 and F) to remove unwanted out-of-band signals. The filtered st F signal is amplified by the st F AMP (Q), and then applied to the F demodulate C (C70, pin ). st L signals from VC nly noise components (approximately 0 khz signal) are amplified by the noise amplifier, and then rectified by the internal noise detector to be converted into DC voltage corresponding to noise level; the squelch voltage. The squelch voltage is output from the pin of C70, and then applied to the A/D port of the CPU (C0, pin ). The CPU (C0) compares input voltage and preset squelch level to control audio signals N/FF (emit/mute). RX AF CRCUTS The demodulated AF signal from the F demodulate C (C70, pin 9) is passed through the AF mute SW (C0D) and LPF (C). The filtered AF signal is de-emphasized by R8 and C8 to obtain db/oct. of frequency response, and then applied to the D/A converter (C90). The level-adjusted AF signal is amplified by the AF power amplifier (C), and then applied to the speaker (CHASSS: SP). 9 - TRANSMTTER CRCUTS TX AF CRCUTS AF signal from the microphone (MC signals) is passed through the MC mute SW (C0A), amplifi ed by MC AMP (C00B), and then applied to the D/A converter (C90), through another MC mute SW (C0C). The level-adjusted MC signal is pre-emphasized by R0 and C8 to obtain + db/oct of frequency response, and then passed through the limiter (C00A) to prevent over deviation. The amplitude-limited MC signal is fi ltered by the splatter fi lter (C00D) to remove khz and higher signals, and then applied to the VC (Q, Q, D) for frequency modulation. TX AF AND MDULATN CRCUTS MC MC0 Q,Q D MD C00D MD MUT E LPF Q0 D0 D C00A BUFF LMT AM P Q Q BUFF VC C90 PRE ENPHA D/A To L switch TX AMPLFERS The frequency-modulated signal from the VC (Q, Q, D) is passed through the buffers (Q and Q) and L SW (D0), and then sequentially amplified by the buffer AMP (Q0) and pre-drive AMP (Q). The amplifi ed signal is splitted by the power splitter (L00, L0, R, C, C) and applied to the power AMPs (Q and Q). The amplifi ed signals are combined at the power combiner (L07, L08, R, C7, C8) to obtain the TX output power. The amplified TX signal is passed through the ANT SW (D) and LPF, and then applied to the antenna. APC CRCUT A portion of TX output signal is rectifi ed by D9 to produce the DC voltage which corresponds to the TX power level. The APC AMP (C0) compares the voltage and TX power setting voltage from the D/A converter (C90). The resulting voltage from the APC AMP controls the gain of both driver AMP (Q) and power AMPs (Q and Q), to keep the TX output power stable. 10 - FREQUENCY SYNTHESZER CRCUTS VC While transmitting, the oscillatinon frequency of VC (Q, Q, D) is determined by the value of D, L, C and C7, and the frequency modulation is carried out by adding modulation signal to D0. The generated signal is passed through the buffers (Q and Q), and then applied to the pre-drive AMP (Q), through the L SW (D0) and buffer (Q0). PLL C is a PLL C which contains the prescaler, programmable counter, phase comparator and charge pump in its package. The. MHz reference frequency signal is fed from X. The loop fi lter for the VC is composed by R8, R0, R, C, C and C. While receiving, D is turned N and C8 is connected to the GND to shift the oscillation frequency lower. The generated signal is passed through the buffers (Q and Q), and then applied to the st mixer (Q0), through the L SW (D).
