MEET OUR PLENARY SPEAKERS Russell Stannard Russell Stannard is a multi award-winning Educational Technologist and founder of www.teachertrainingvideos.com. He is especially known for his pioneering work in using technology to enhance feedback and his experiments with screen capture technology. His has produced two highly successful training sites. He is a recommended Camtasia Trainer and was previously a Principal Educational Technologist at the University of Warwick and the University of Westminster. He currently works as an Educational Consultant helping organisations to build online learning/blended learning courses as well as training staff in the use of technology all over the world. To date Russell has worked in 31 countries and has the British Council, Oxford University, the INTO group, Macmillan, Express Publishing and the BBC among his many clients. He has been awarded: the British Council ELTons Technology award, the Times Higher Outstanding Technology award and the University of Westminster Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award for his work in the use of technology, especially with reference to student feedback and the Flipped Classroom. Δρ Ελένη Λιβανίου Η Ελένη Λιβανίου είναι Εκπαιδευτικός Ψυχολόγος με Διδακτορικό στη Γνωστική και Κοινωνική Ψυχολογία από το πανεπιστήμιο του Sussex Αγγλίας. Το ερευνητικό της έργο αφορά στο σύνδρομο Ελλειμματικής Προσοχής και Υπερκινητικότητας (ΕΠΥ), τη Δυσλεξία και τα προβλήματα συμπεριφοράς. Σπούδασε κι εργάστηκε στην Αγγλία μέχρι το 1992 και μέχρι το 2002 δίδασκε σε έκτακτα προγράμματα του Πανεπιστημίου του Sussex στην Αγγλία ενώ τώρα συνεργάζεται με το Nottingham Trent Πανεπιστήμιο της Αγγλίας ως εισηγήτρια/υπεύθυνη του προγράμματος Μάστερ (Master in Inclusive Education). Dr Luke Prodromou Dr Luke Prodromou graduated from Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham Universities. He was for many years a teacher and teacher-trainer with the British Council. He has also worked for ESADE, Barcelona, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Thessaloniki, Pilgrims Canterbury, NILE, Bell Schools et al. He currently teaches, part-time, ELT Methodology on the MA TESOL University of Sheffield International Faculty, City College, Thessaloniki. He gives talks on English literature and he also runs an international teachers and students English Language Theatre: Luke n Friends, which has performed at conferences in Greece, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Argentina, Mexico, Georgia, and the UK.

Testing is important and should be part and parcel of an integrated approach to teaching as education and not something which undermines our attempts to teach effectively. Testing is often used as a short cut to extrinsic motivation but, I argue, we can make test preparation more a process of intrinsic motivation by making it more creative. I suggest ways of testing which make it consistent with good teaching practice, where motivation addresses the whole person and not just the person-as-exam-candidate and which gets the best exam results!
