APOLYTIKION When the women Disciples of the Lord had learned from the Angel the joyful message of the Resurrection and rejected the ancestral decision, they cried aloud to the Apostles triumphantly: Death has been despoiled, Christ God has risen, granting His great mercy to the world. Πρὸς Γαλάτας Ἐπιστολῆς Παύλου 2:16-20 Ἀδελφοί, εἰδότες ὅτι οὐ δικαιοῦται ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ἔργων νόμου, ἐὰν μὴ διὰ πίστεως Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ ἡμεῖς εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐπιστεύσαμεν, ἵνα δικαιωθῶμεν ἐκ πίστεως Χριστοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων νόμου διότι ἐξ ἔργων νόμου οὐ δικαιωθήσεται πᾶσα σάρξ. O Lord, Your works shall be magnified greatly; You made all things in wisdom. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly. The Letter of St. Paul to Galatians 2:16-20 Brethren, you know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
ΤΟ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ - THE HOLY GOSPEL Ἐκ τοῦ κατὰ Μάρκον 8:34-9:1 Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος Εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ἐλθεῖν, ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι. ὃς γὰρ ἂν θέλῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ σῶσαι, ἀπολέσει αὐτήν ὃς δ ἂν ἀπολέσῃ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχὴν ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ καὶ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου, οὗτος σώσει αὐτήν. τί γὰρ ὠφελήσει ἄνθρωπον ἐὰν κερδήσῃ τὸν κόσμον ὅλον, καὶ ζημιωθῇ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ; ἢ τί δώσει ἄνθρωπος ἀντάλλαγμα τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ; ὃς γὰρ ἐὰν ἐπαισχυνθῇ με καὶ τοὺς ἐμοὺς λόγους ἐν τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ τῇ μοιχαλίδι καὶ ἁμαρτωλῷ, καὶ ὁ υ ἱὸς τ ο ῦ ἀ ν θ ρ ώ π ο υ ἐπαισχυνθήσεται αὐτὸν ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἐν τῇ δόξῃ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀγγέλων τῶν ἁγίων. According to Mark 8:34-9:1 The Lord said: "If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? For what can a man give in return for his life? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power." HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPPAA privacy rules, most hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients for us to see. Therefore, if you or a loves are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office to arrange a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility, or under hospice care. FALL CAMP Our Metropolis of Boston is offering Fall Camp again this year, October 11-14. Please speak with Fr Nicholas for more information! OUR NEW SEMINARIAN We are pleased to announce that we have a seminarian from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology assigned to our community this year. Alexander Karcher is in his 2nd year of the Master of Divinity Program and will be helping us in the altar and Sunday School. 2019 STEWARDSHIP REPORT *As of 09/13/19 WEEK 2019 TOTAL PLEDGES RECEIVED AVERAGE $ PER PLEDGE *GOAL STEWARDSHIP BUDGET 38 $ 197,333.88 409 $482 $300,000.00 Our operating budget would require that each family contribute $1,000 in Stewardship in order to meet our operating expenses. *Goal amount includes the 2019 Stewardship Budget Receipts of $300,000.00. Funds reflect all monies received in 2019. We suggest budgeting your Stewardship contribution as you would your monthly home expenses. Our Cathedral must meet the financial needs of its ministries and annual operating budget by way of our Christian Stewardship Program. It is everyone s responsibility to accept this honor and support our role as a Contributing Steward. We ask that you prayerfully pledge whatever you can give to support our community through Stewardship. May God continue to bless the work of your hands.
