This scial mvement f the Indians reflects the rise f a new scial frce in the cntinent. It exhibits the fllwing characteristics : ) It calls fr cmprehensive rights fr the Indians and claims fr territries that belnged t the Indians befre the cnquest five centuries ag. ) It is shifting frm the traditinal Indigenism t Indianism. 3) It applies new ways t carry ut their struggles. Gvernments in many Latin American cuntries have taken up an active attitude twards the demands f the Indians. Fr instance cnstitutins have been amended t ffer mre legal prtectins fr the Indians. Hwever since the issue f the Indians is a part f the verall scial prblem in Latin America it will nt be reslved in the shrt term. T a certain extent the Fujimri Phenmenn reflected the imprtant changes in the plitical landscape f Latin America.
