In the coastal shops of Chora as well as in the shops situated in the inner parts of the town, you will find jewelry made of gold, silver and other precious materials; woman s and man s accessories, clothes, shoes; decorative stuff, handicrafts and many other small temptations. In the alleys of the old market, on the skirts of the Castle you may also window-shop and buy souvenirs and small presents. RECREATION/ΑΝΑΨΥΧΗ The endless beaches of the island are a real paradise for lovers of water sports. Even if you belong to those who associate summer vacations only to sun bathing and swimming, in Naxos you will change your mind! Having as your ally the etesian winds that blow during the day in summer time, you can go in for the most famous water sport of the island in the south west beaches, wind surfing. Aghios Prokopis, Aghia Anna, Mikri Vigla and Pyrgaki are ideal for beginners and advanced wind surfers, while the whether conditions in Amitis and Alyko meet the necessary requirements for experts. In Mikri Vigla you can learn the secrets of kite surfing, which will definitely catch your attention! PRACTICAL INFO Time zone difference Greece is in the Eastern European Time Zone. Eastern European Standard Time (EET) is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). Like most countries in Europe, Summer (Daylight Saving) time is observed in Greece, where the time is moved forward by 1 hour, 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). After the summer months the time is moved back by 1 hour to Eastern European Time (EET) or (GMT+2). Daylight Savings Time (GMT+3) in Greece begins at 3 a.m. on the last Sunday of March and ends at 4 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Language The official language is Greek. Transport In Chora you will find taxi stands: outside the Health Center until 17:00, in the sea front close to Alpha Bank and Piraeus Bank from 17:00 and all day long at the port, where ships moor. With just a phone call you can be picked up from any point, twenty four hours a day. But you can also use the Local Bus Transportation Network (KTEL) buses. Having as terminal the port of Chora, they carry out daily bus routes to all villages of Naxos. The ticket price is ranging from 1.40-5.50, depending on the route. There is a discount concerning students and members of large families. Internet Most hotels provide Internet access to their guests. Internet cafes are available mostly in Chora.
