30 January 2015 PRE-PRIMARY NEWSLETTER Dear Parents, ORIENTATION EVENING A big thank you to our parents who joined us on Wednesday for the Pre-Primary s Orientation. It was wonderful to see almost every single parent there. For parents who were unable to attend, your child s teacher will be able to provide you with a hand-out outlining some of the important points of the evening. The Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Development was also briefly discussed. The Reggio approach is integral to recent developments in Early Childhood practice. The overall philosophy is that children should be encouraged to explore and that teachers should provide an environment which promotes this exploration. The Reggio Approach values the child as strong, capable and resilient, rich with wonder and knowledge. CLASSLISTS From time to time parents request classlists from Gina with parents names and phone numbers on for birthday parties. Gina is no longer able to hand out these lists. She is prevented from doing so because of POPI (the Protection of Personal Information Act) which requires that no one s personal information is shared with a third party. LITTLE EDEN FETE The Little Eden Fete will be taking place early in March and once again we are collecting items for this cause. Kindly bring in any soft toys, clothes, or shoes (in pairs with elastic bands around them)

Τhe SAHETI pre-primary school would like to thank Mr. and Mrs Koukouves for their generous donation of Vasilopites. THE THREE HIERARCHS On the 30th January every year we honor the day of the Three Hierarchs. They were Basil the Great or Basil of Caesarea, John Chrisostom, and Gregory the Theologian. They were all three wise and learned men and highly influential bishops of the early church. For this reason they were named saints and they each have their own feast day. However due to a dispute among the Christians of the time as to who had offered the most to Christianity it was decided towards the end of the 4 th century that they should all be commemorated on a common day.
The School Blessing On Friday 30 th January, the day of the three hierarchs we will be having the annual school blessing, for prosperity, health and happiness.
Today, Friday the 30 th January we had the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita in each class. All our young learners were waiting very patiently to see who would be the lucky one to find the coin. Once again we would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Koukouves for their generation donation. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
