AS Level Classical Greek H044/01 Language Defined Vocabulary List This vocabulary list is required for AS Level Classical Greek H044/01 Language. In addition to the words printed in the list, candidates will be expected to be familiar with the following forms: principal parts of verbs contained in the list very obvious formations from words in the DVL (e.g. βασιλεύω from βασιλεύς negative adjectives with α- privative all regular adverbs formed from the listed adjectives and prepositions comparative and superlative forms of all listed adjectives and corresponding adverbs εἴκοσι; ἑκατόν; χίλιοι; the use of the suffixes κοντα, κοσιοι, and χιλιοι commonly occurring proper nouns of obvious formation (e.g. Κόρινθος) compound verbs where the prefix does not change the root meaning (e.g. εἰσέρχομαι). euphonic changes of consonants in prepositional phrases and compound verbs, e.g. μεθʹ ἐμοῦ, ἐμπίπτω. Teachers must check the Accidence and Syntax in Appendix 5d of the OCR AS Level Classical Greek Specification. Any vocabulary listed in this Appendix must be known (e.g. cardinal and ordinal numbers). All other words in an unseen will be glossed, unless they have obvious English derivatives (e.g. ἀστρολογία).
