BRETHREN, when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. During the Agape Service on Easter Sunday Morning, the Gospel is read in several different languages to show that all nations proclaim that Christ is risen. English and Greek are traditionally read by the clergy but we do need readers in the following other languages: French, Spanish, Latin, Arabic, Italian, German, and Albanian. TARAMOKEFTEDES ( Fish Roe Patties ) 6 servings 4 oz. Tarama. 1/4 lb Spinach finely chopped 1 Medium Onion finely chopped 1 teaspoon each parsley and dill 4 slices of dry bread or 1 cup of dry bread crumbs 1/2 cup water or vegetable broth 1/2 cup vegetable oil Saute the onions, add the spinach long enough to wilt it. Moist the bread or the bread crumbs with enough water or broth to form a ball. Mix it with the tarama. Add the onions, dill, parsley and seasonings. Shape into patties, roll them in flour and fry them in hot vegetable oil. Let them drain on paper towels. You can also bake the patties in very hot oven (400') on very well oiled baking sheet until they are nicely browned. Serve them with roast beets and scordalia. ROAST BEETS 2 lb beets 4 cloves of garlic smashed and chopped 1/4 cup Greek salad dressing ( oil-vinegar ) Remove the leafy parts of the beets and cut the tough stems. Boil then till tender. Don't overcook Rinse the beets, wrap them tightly in foil and roast them in 400' oven for 50-60 minutes. Peel and quarter the roasted beets. Mix them with the garlic and the salad dressing. Arrange the green leaves in the middle of a platter and place the beets around them. CEMETERY VISITS: Due to the number of sacraments, 40 day blessings and memorials on Sundays it is difficult to make cemetery visits on Sundays after liturgy. HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPAA privacy rules, hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients to us. Therefore, if you or a loved one are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office for a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility or under hospice care. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS! Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church.
