HYMNS OF THE DAY Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal Fourth Mode: O Merciful One, You came from on high, and condescended to Your three day burial to save us from suffering. You are our Life and our Resurrection. Glory to You. Apolytikion for All Saints in the Fourth Mode: Your Church, O Christ our God, clothed itself in the blood of Your martyrs from throughout the world, as though it were a robe of linen and purple; through them, she cries out to You, "Send down upon Your people compassion, grant peace to Your commonwealth, and to our souls, great mercy." Apolytikion for Apostle Bartholomew in the Third Mode: O Holy Apostles, intercede to our merciful God, that He may grant our souls forgiveness of sins. Seasonal Kontakion in the Plagal Fourth Mode: The world offers You, the author of all creation, as the first-fruits of nature, the God-bearing martyrs. O most merciful, by their intercessions, through the Theotokos, maintain Your Church in perfect peace. Receiving Holy Communion - We welcome to this celebration of the Divine Liturgy those Christians who are from other Christian Denominations and who are not fully united with us. Sadly, it is a consequence of the divisions in Christianity that we cannot extend to you an invitation to receive Holy Communion. Orthodox Christians believe that the Eucharist is the work or action of the celebrating community signifying a oneness of faith, life, and worship of the believing community. Reception of Holy Communion by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness which does not yet exist, and for which we must pray. However, all present are welcome to partake of the Antidoro (blessed bread) which is distributed at the end of the Liturgy Service.
Epistle Reading Prokeimenon. Fourth Mode. Psalm 67.35,26. God is wonderful among his saints. Verse: Bless God in the congrega ons. The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 11:33-40; 12:1-2 BRETHREN, all the saints through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced jus ce, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated - of whom the world was not worthy - wandering over deserts and mountains and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Fourth Mode.
GOSPEL The Sunday of All Saints The Reading is from Matthew 10:32-33; 37-38; 19:27-30 The Lord said to his disciples, "Every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in heaven. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me." Then Peter said in reply, "Lo, we have left everything and followed you. What then shall we have?" Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many that are first will be last, and the last first."

Hello and Happy Spring! Again it is me for the Grecian Food Fes val: The greatest fundraiser of the year for our beloved Taxiarchae Church. This event helps support the church. Before the actual event, there is much work to be done. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!! The Taxiarchae needs you! The women of Philoptochos work tirelessly to offer the best pastry table among all of the churches in the area. But, in order to make this years pastry table a successful one, WE NEED YOUR HELP. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of volunteering. Please make every effort to bake large quantities of your best dessert to sell at the Pastry Table during the Festival. Any Greek dessert is most welcomed, especially Kourambiethes, Karithopeta, Melomakarona, Kataifi, Galaktobouriko, Koulourakia and of course the number one choice, Baklava. Get together with your moms, aunts, cousins and bake up a storm for a great cause. If you are not a baker then please consider volunteering your time by helping at the festival. We are looking for volunteers for group baking and working at the festival. Remember, many hands make for less work. Volunteering is a multi generational opportunity. Please call, or e-mail when you are available to volunteer. If you are baking, please let me know what you re making that we do not have too many duplications. Lalvanos@comcast.net or 508-308-9439.
